Chatterwood House nursing home is a converted Victorian building, and has undergone extensive renovations to create a beautiful care environment for up to 35 residents. The revamped home offers a spacious interior, combined with generous garden areas.

Though Chatterwood is ideal for long-term accommodation, where it welcomes friends and family to visit and maintains a friendly atmosphere, it can also offer its facilities for terminally ill patients, thanks to its team of highly-skilled care staff.

The home's staff have a flexible and sensitive approach towards residents' personal requirements, and run a popular activities programme that includes reminiscence therapy and musical movement, together with an annual fete.

The fact that my mother was able to live a comfortable existence here for six years is a testament to the professionalism, warmth and patience of the staff, who came to be a second family.

My mother had a massive stroke in August 2012 and went into Chatterwood House the following October.
From that time onwards, she was essentially bed-bound and looked after with care, compassion and humanity. I was at all times, kept up to date with her state of health and in nearly six years, she only
once had a minor bed sore which was quickly dealt with. A testament to the really good care and nursing she received.

My mum arrived from a traumatic month in hospital having being severely ill. She recovered enough for convalescence, although only at Chatterwood fir two weeks this short time was comfortable and full of love for mum. Thank you so much.

My mother went into Chatterwood on the 16th March for a weeks respite care, which became permanent as she and all the family were happy with it. She had been diagnosed with cancer in February and it was no longer safe for her to be a home. She deteriorated over the next three months and had a very poor
appetite. They would try to tempt her, sometimes with three different meal. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were always pleasant, kind and accommodating.

My Mother-in-law went into Chatterwood Nursing Home on 16th March 2018. She was deteriorating health wise. From day one, she was looked after in such a good way. The staff showed her a lot of care and affection. There was nothing they wouldn't do to make her and all the other residents comfortable and
happy. They also showed respect for her relations. I cannot fault them in any way. My mother in Law died on 20th June. If one day I needed to go into care, make it Chatterwood please.

My mother recently spent 3 weeks here for end of life care. She had been diagnosed with advanced, inoperable cancer & we did not know how long she had to live. As a retired nurse, I was concerned the care would be good enough for my mum. I need not have worried. Whether day or night mum was cared for
by kind & caring nurses & carers, led by a strong & visible manager. Everyone was so friendly & respectful - from the cook to the lady who did the laundry, to the handyman. There was continuity of care from regular staff & the staffing levels were good. Mum’s pain relief was well managed & this was a comfort to us all in her final days. Thankyou Chatterwood.

My mother has recently come to stay at Chatterwood and is settling in extremely well. Mum has dementia and does not accept that she needs help as she is a very independent person. All the staff at Chatterwood have been sensitive to this and mum looks so much better after only a few days in their care.
I was concerned that mum would find it difficult to settle and whilst it is very early days, I am most impressed with the way the staff have helped her. The newly refurbished lounge areas and new extension for bedrooms are very welcoming and bright and mum says the bed is very comfortable!

This was not on the hospital list for care homes. We found it on the internet search. Drove around the area and of the five homes we viewed, this stood out. The building has just been refurbished to a very high standard. The bedrooms and ensuite facilities were very good. The staff here go that extra
bit to look after the people staying here. We as a family when visiting were treated with a warm and friendly welcome.

My mother has a small food intake and can be fussy but her wishes were always accounted for.

Chatterwood Nursing Home is a real home from home.
Situated in the quiet Hampshire countryside it offers excellent care, plus a wide range of activities.
From the manager to all the dedicated staff, we could not have wished for more attentive care for our mother.
Nothing was too much trouble.
The
bright spacious rooms and communal areas are kept spotlessly clean.
A daily choice of meals was always on offer with everyone getting together.
We can't thank them enough and would recommend this Nursing Home.

My wife has recently passed away at this home following a residency of more than three and a half years. During this period she has always received nothing but the most excellent of care. The management and staff are just the best. They really do care, they are unselfish, compassionate, respectful towards
dignity, supportive to both residents and relatives. With its new extension and total refurbishment, the home must be the best of its type in the area.

Was shown to the room and offered tea and biscuits straight away. The staff member with my friend on arrival had pleasant chat then went. I found my friend very happy and content. I thought her room had a good view. She was eager to show me a painting she had done and apparently she had been dancing
too!

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.901)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.901) out of 10 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.926 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 217 Ratings = 4.926
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
