My father-in-law only spent one week at Chatterwood as he sadly passed away but we could not have wished for him to be anywhere else. From the minute we walked in we could 'feel' what a lovely place it is. So friendly, caring and compassionate to him and our whole family. It is a warm and inviting feeling just like home. He and we were treated with such dignity. On the day of his passing, every single member of staff we came into contact with was wonderful. It made a very difficult day easier to bear. If in the future I needed to be I would be very happy to be there myself.

The care given to my father since he became a resident in Chatterwood last July has consistently been top rate. The senior management of the home set very high standards of care and treatment which is reflected through the attitudes and approach of all the care staff and other support helpers. One has the feeling of entering a personal home rather than any institution which goes a long way to setting the tone. I feel I have been very fortunate in finding such a nice home for my father and know he is being cared for to a very high standard.

I and my sister have been extremely happy with the care that mum has received from the manager and her staff. They genuinely love mum as she is always smiling. She came to Chatterwood having had a really bad time at her previous care home, and to see her now communicating and interacting with the family (albeit with limited vocabulary) is something we thought we had lost forever. We cannot thank nor praise the staff at Chatterwood highly enough for their kindness, care and devotion to mum's care.

I have found wonderful care in every thing these carers do, not just for my mother but each and everyone of the adults here, both men and women. My mother was a very dependant lady and didn't want to go into any home what ever was said, but after my father past away it was the only option. To see her now so happy it is the best thing ever. I travel from Reading once a week and visit sometimes twice no matter what day it is. My mum is so happy very clean and well fed, I cannot fault this place at all and would recommend anyone.

My mother has received excellent care at Chatterwood. She was expertly and sympathetically nursed through a chest infection during the winter and attention is always paid to her serious heart condition. The staff are friendly and cheerful and the management accessible. The nursing home is spotless and run most efficiently.

My mother spent that last 2 months of her life at Chatterwood and, unfortunately, she wasn't particularly aware of her time there. However, I was. Mum had come from a care home and the contrast could not have been greater. From the moment I walked in I knew that Chatterwood was what we all needed. It was a huge relief.

Mums care was everything that we could have hoped for and the dignity with which she was treated and the time that the staff with her took was excellent. One hears of the challenges presented to people who run nursing homes between care and cost. Chatterwood have found a way to navigate this superbly.

I came to realise that care of the resident is only part of what they do. At what is a very difficult time, the families get excellent support from the staff too. The importance of this cannot be underestimated. I can’t name individuals but Chatterwoods manager comes in for particular praise. She even took the time to attend my mother’s funeral which I found particularly touching.

In the last few days of mums time, Chatterwood become a second home to me and my family and, although it was a horrible time, strangely I look back at the time I spent at Chatterwood with fondness.

I have worked for Milkwood Care since 2018, where I joined as a Care Assistant at our sister home, Milkwood House. Having had my grandparents in Milkwood House for 9 years in total, I have an understanding of the home from both the perspective of a carer and a relative. Ensuring our residents have a fulfilled and settled/comfortable life is our priority, with support to our relatives to understand conditions, etc.
