Chatterwood House nursing home is a converted Victorian building, and has undergone extensive renovations to create a beautiful care environment for up to 35 residents. The revamped home offers a spacious interior, combined with generous garden areas.

Though Chatterwood is ideal for long-term accommodation, where it welcomes friends and family to visit and maintains a friendly atmosphere, it can also offer its facilities for terminally ill patients, thanks to its team of highly-skilled care staff.

The home's staff have a flexible and sensitive approach towards residents' personal requirements, and run a popular activities programme that includes reminiscence therapy and musical movement, together with an annual fete.

The food is sufficient and excellent. The accommodation is also fantastic. Medical supervision outstanding.
The staff are accomodating, kind, considerate, understanding my wife's personal needs. All that you could wish for nothing is a problem only a solution.
The surroundings are rural, set in the
Hampshire countryside. Delightful to say the least. In fact, they are outstanding not to mention the entertainment/activities painting etc.

Always feel staff have Dad's best interest at heart. Today, 28th July 2017, we had a difficult conversation about Dad but really appreciated knowing what we need to know. Please keep on doing that, even though we may not want to hear it.

Dad seems happy and I am sure sees this as his home now,

and what is best for him is best for us. Keep taking care of him. you all do such a good job in looking after him and we can only say a big 'thank you'.

A very homely and pleasant nursing home and the staff are coping extremely well during the renovations to the building. My auntie continues to be cared for excellently. All her medical needs are attended to including recent trips to the hospital and the nurse who escorted her on these trips went far
beyond her duty.

My brother has been here three years. The care that he has received during this time has been full on as he requires full care throughout the day. The staff are always friendly to the residents and visitors and it's evident that the residents are their number one priority.
Throughout the week the home
has varied visiting entertainments, supporting the belief that the residents are number one, all of the time.

We are always made to feel very welcome when visiting, whatever time of day and find Chatterwood to be a calm, caring and happy environment. We are very impressed with the care given to residents, whether it be treating them as individuals, how well dressed and clean they are and how they are treated
with dignity. The staff are excellent, professional and friendly all of the time and Chatterwood itself is welcoming and warm. We are pleased with the cleanliness of all the rooms and very impressed by the home-cooked meals, which all look nutritious and delicious! We are not usually able to attend the activities organised by Chatterwood but can see from the newsletters and photographs, that they are thoughtfully planned, making sure that every effort is made to create varied, entertaining and fun experiences. Well done Chatterwood!

We have always been happy with the care that my father has received during the two and a half years he has been at Chatterwood.
The staff have always been very kind and helpful and the activities and entertainment are always enjoyable. Music in particular, is always a very good thing as many residents
join in with singing and seem to really enjoy it.

Really friendly staff - built great relationships with my family - especially my mother. Puts her mind at rest that her dad is well looked after. The new refurb looks great! Lots of events and activity days for all to attend which has been lovely. My grandad's new bedroom is fantastic, really relaxing
and homely. Ensuite is fab! Thank you all for what you do. Carers/healthcare assistants/support workers never get enough credit for what we do. Without you, my grandad could be in a terrible home. We are very grateful. All residents look happy.

Having visited my uncle on a number of times, I always find the home lovely and every member of staff remembers me. Considering they have got major works in progress, the home is still managed extremely well. The one thing I love is the relaxed atmosphere with no distressed residents of nasty wee smells!!
What a lovely place and surroundings to see out your formative years.

Although the home is currently having extensive building and upgrading work, the management and staff are making sure all the residents and visitors are well looked after and do not suffer any inconvenience. Residents have been moved into a new wing, ultra modern, whilst refurbishment work is done on
the main building. It is going to be lovely when finished. Activities are continuing as usual and everyone enjoys the entertainments and special days i.e residents birthday parties and recently cupcake day for Alzheimer's we had a singer and everyone made cupcakes with prizes for the best tasting raising over £200 for the cause.
Thank you, everyone, for making this a home from home.

My father-in-law only spent one week at Chatterwood as he sadly passed away but we could not have wished for him to be anywhere else. From the minute we walked in we could 'feel' what a lovely place it is. So friendly, caring and compassionate to him and our whole family. It is a warm and inviting feeling
just like home. He and we were treated with such dignity. On the day of his passing, every single member of staff we came into contact with was wonderful. It made a very difficult day easier to bear. If in the future I needed to be I would be very happy to be there myself.

The care given to my father since he became a resident in Chatterwood last July has consistently been top rate. The senior management of the home set very high standards of care and treatment which is reflected through the attitudes and approach of all the care staff and other support helpers. One has
the feeling of entering a personal home rather than any institution which goes a long way to setting the tone. I feel I have been very fortunate in finding such a nice home for my father and know he is being cared for to a very high standard.

I and my sister have been extremely happy with the care that mum has received from the manager and her staff. They genuinely love mum as she is always smiling. She came to Chatterwood having had a really bad time at her previous care home, and to see her now communicating and interacting with the family
(albeit with limited vocabulary) is something we thought we had lost forever. We cannot thank nor praise the staff at Chatterwood highly enough for their kindness, care and devotion to mum's care.

I have found wonderful care in every thing these carers do, not just for my mother but each and everyone of the adults here, both men and women. My mother was a very dependant lady and didn't want to go into any home what ever was said, but after my father past away it was the only option. To see her
now so happy it is the best thing ever. I travel from Reading once a week and visit sometimes twice no matter what day it is. My mum is so happy very clean and well fed, I cannot fault this place at all and would recommend anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.901)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.901) out of 10 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.926 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 217 Ratings = 4.926
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
