Chatterwood House nursing home is a converted Victorian building, and has undergone extensive renovations to create a beautiful care environment for up to 35 residents. The revamped home offers a spacious interior, combined with generous garden areas.

Though Chatterwood is ideal for long-term accommodation, where it welcomes friends and family to visit and maintains a friendly atmosphere, it can also offer its facilities for terminally ill patients, thanks to its team of highly-skilled care staff.

The home's staff have a flexible and sensitive approach towards residents' personal requirements, and run a popular activities programme that includes reminiscence therapy and musical movement, together with an annual fete.

Each time I arrive to visit my mother I have been made very welcome, even in these difficult times. My mother always appears very well cared for when she has been dressed and ready to see me. Sometimes she is still in bed as I visit quite early and the majority of the time, again, very cared for. I
find all the staff extremely attentive towards my mother.

My mother has been in Chatterwood for only a short time but the care she has received is amazing. The home is spotlessly clean and there is a wonderful respectful atmosphere from the moment I walked in the door. My mother's room is beautiful and nothing was too much trouble to make sure my mother is
comfortable and happy.

In the last few weeks, I have witnessed pure professionalism from the whole team at Chatterwood House. The level of care that they have provided for my mother has been exceptionally high. I would also like to thank the staff on handling the recent pandemic with again, professionalism and care. I have
witnessed care given to my mother from staff who are highly trained and dedicated to help their residents. I am truly grateful. Thank you!

My father was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in early 2020. Hampshire social services helped locate a space at Chatterwood and I was impressed with how clean and tidy the home was and how friendly all of the staff were.
Dad moved in March and was so happy for the last three months of his life.
The staff welcomed him and he became very much a part of their team and the family. Whether it was joining their team meetings dancing and singing or watching TV together dad said it was the best decision he made moving there.
Even when he entered the final few days the staffs level of care was second to none. They were attentive to his needs and he passed away pain-free and with dignity.
I can’t thank the manager and the team enough for looking after dad so well and allaying all my fears. They took the stress out of the situation.
Thank you!

My visits are once a week as I live 160 miles round trip from my home, plus my husband is not in good health. The people in Chatterwood are aware of this so I would expect my mother to be up in her chair. On many occasions she is still in bed half-dressed, waiting to come down to the lounge, up until
45 minutes after I have complained, and yes, I have seen for myself because I go to tell her I am waiting.

The staff are fantastic. I know my mum is being well looked after. They always call to keep me informed of everything - when she is not well or if they need to give her anything eg flu jab, toenails to be cut etc.

My father was admitted into hospital in Chichester whilst I was on holiday. He had been living in a care home for the past two years but had a fall which led to a bleed on the brain. When I returned I was shocked and very distressed to see the change in his condition in just two weeks. It was clear
he needed to find a new nursing home and fast. The manageress and her staff were amazing and I shall be forever grateful. The home is always spotless, the staff charming. My dad is doing well as a result of the care he has received.

My mother came to Chatterwood after a number of weeks in hospital. The staff made her welcome and were compassionate and sensitive. The home is clean and comfortable, with a friendly, homely feel. The renovation works in 2017 have delivered a well configured and suitable sized home with character.
Her
numerous wounds have required frequent redressing, well embraced by the nurses. It has been pleasing to see Mum so involved with the varied activities programme. The person-centred care of the Chatterwood team is a commendable example of how care should be delivered and reflects well upon the capable and confident manager. The team work tirelessly to ensure that residents feel at home, safe and supported by people who really care. I would not hesitate in recommending Chatterwood.

I would recommend Chatterwood
to anyone looking to stay in a nursing home.
We are so grateful to everyone for their help and support.

My 94-year-old aunt was discharged from hospital after a severe stroke and spent the last eight days of her life at Chatterwood. During this short period, they established a relationship with her and provided all the support and care that made her time there as happy and comfortable as it could possibly
be.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.901)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.901) out of 10 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.926 for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (201 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 217 Ratings = 4.926
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chatterwood House Nursing Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 37 registered maximum number of service users is 7.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
