The Orchard Care Home is excellent. They are very accommodating and very flexible. They have a good staff to resident ratio. They do nice day trips and lots of activities. They are very responsible regarding medications and doctors appoints. They manage conflict well. They are all very kind and respectful.
The food is of a high standard. The home itself is well looked after and maintained.

I have completed two previous reviews at key moments of my wife's time at Ganarew. Sadly my wife died in early December last year and I want to complete the circle by commenting on end of life care at this wonderful establishment. My wife had Alzheimer's disease and was probably at the start of the
final phase of the disease when she came to the home. From day one until her final hours the standard of care, compassion and sheer professionalism was exemplary, in her final hours she was treated and cared for with privacy, dignity and tenderness by all.
So I have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful home from home.

Mum is happy and settled at Ganarew. They care for her well and have lovely approachable staff that you can speak to at any time. It is nice to know that Mum is so well looked after, including the lovely meals and constant entertainment and company, which is exactly what Mum needs.

Staff always welcoming and helpful and have always treated my father with dignity and respect. The staff seem to always know what is going on and are there immediately when needed or a potential problem arises. Neither I or my sister have ever heard annoyed raised voices from staff and witnessed them
cope well and support each other when met with different situations. A manager is always on hand to speak with, if required. The staff deserve the highest praise for the not always easy job they do. Recently our brother also visited and commented very favourably on the new decoration. After nearly 4 years, neither I or my sister, who visit at least weekly, have once been disappointed or felt let down by Ganarew Care Home. For my father's particular needs bearing in mind he is mobile but now doubly incontinent and has little memory beyond the present 30 seconds, we do not think we could have chosen anywhere better. A big thank you to you all.
Reply from Julie Simons, Registered Manager at Ganarew HouseThankyou so much for your feedback! It is pleasure to have your father in our home!

My family and I are very pleased with the care provided to my mother Mary. When ever we visit Mary is always well dress and happy. The staff always look presentable and help us with our wishes. Mary has been at the Ganarew a couple of years and she is well looked after. Your care home is highly recommended.

My mother moved in this summer. She was made to feel very welcome as were the family. My mother settled in within 3 days and enjoys her time at Ganarew. Staff are extremely helpful and a happy bunch. My mother's treated with respect and I couldn't ask for any better. Totally happy with this carehome.

This was the third care home my dad stayed in and was by far the best. It is in lovely peaceful surroundings, the staff are amazing to the point that I jokingly said I'd booked myself in for 25 years' time.

Ganarew House is, in my opinion, an ideal home for residents such as my sister in law. The care provided is excellent, the staff show exceptional kindess and patience and treat everyone with dignity. The rooms are ideal, the bedrooms being very suitably equipped as are all the facilities and the home
is always clean. The food is excellent. The activities are exceptional, with regular entertainment within the home each day, as well as external visitors and visits outside the home as well. I would recommend Ganarew most strongly.

My sister moved into The Orchard Care Home (OCH), just over a year ago, at a very difficult time in her life. My sister was welcomed by all staff members, including ground staff E.g. Handymen and gardeners. She received the best care that she needed, and continues to; in addition it is the best care
we could have ever wanted for her as a family. OCH have done all they can to support her, on a personal and emotional level, and by taking her out to different activities. Friends and family have observed since my sister has moved into OCH, she has become more independent and learnt many skills i.e. Interpersonal and craft. My sister is very happy at OCH and in her own words 'would not want to move to anywhere else'. To echo my sister's view - as a family we highly recommend OCH to anyone.

My father-in-law has been at Ganarew for over a year now, he went through some traumatic experiences prior to living at Ganarew and had been in two previous "care homes". Both experiences left us feeling like we had no option but to care for him ourselves, which we tried to do. Unfortunately, his care
and safety were above what we could handle at home, and with the aid of social services, we started to look at homes again. We were offered several places over a 4 month period and turned them down. Then we found Ganarew, made a call and went to visit. It instantly felt safe, welcoming and friendly. There was a distinctive "family" feel and all the residents and staff appeared to be happy and content. The rooms are well-equipped and the building is light, clean and comfortable. The care is exceptional and we know he is in safe hands. I really couldn't recommend Ganarew highly enough. The team make what is a hard decision for a family, easy, because you know they care about their residents.
