My mum is having the best of care at Holmer. It's never nice making the decision to have your loved ones cared for but my mum needs more support than I can give and in a safe environment.
The staff here are so incredibly thoughtful, gentle and most importantly patient, as my mum has dementia. I visit at all hours and they always greet me with a smile. They also provide my mum's partner with support, as he visits every day and is made to feel so

I love the many events they put on, from singing, which the residents love, to dancing, quizzes, and knitting. You regularly hear residents and staff having a giggle. This is why it's a special place!

All the staff at Holmer Court are conscientious which comes from the top and filters down.
Staff keep me informed of any changes in my uncle-in-law's status without any fuss and nothing is too much trouble for them. They are quick to reply to any queries and provide regular updates.

Holmer Court also arranges many activities which residents seem to really enjoy. I know that my uncle-in-law is in good, safe hands at Homer Court.

This home is the only bit of good luck we have had from my wife's affliction with Alzheimer's. From the very top of the team to the lowest, they treat the residents with respect care and most of all (love) and that spreads right through to the resident's loved ones. Hate to think what would have happened to me without these amazing people.

We have always had a very good level of communication from the care home. We always receive updates from care plans. The home is really well organised from the management to the care team. I feel very confident that my father-in-law is receiving good supportive care and is stimulated. We can visit whenever we want and the staff are always welcoming and it feels like a warm and caring place to live.

I was concerned regarding putting my mother on a new drug called memantine. It’s a drug given to Alzheimer's/dementia sufferers! After a month of treatment, I found her to be unsteady on her feet, and low in energy. I also found it difficult to converse with her, she didn’t seem to know who I was. She didn’t seem to understand what was being said. Unfortunately, the In-Reach team weren’t readily available because of sickness in their team, so the review I asked for was slow. Eventually, I emailed her doctor who fast-tracked a reduction in the memantine dosage. During this process, the manager and the team at Holmer Court were supportive and thoughtful. I said that I didn’t want to lose my mother to the medication rather than the disease. They totally understood and agreed. I’m grateful.

Both Dad and I are new to the care home process and found a home from home with Holmer Court. Dad moved in mid-January and has fitted in very well. All of the staff are incredibly kind and sympathetic, with smiles on their faces and time for everyone. It's a joy to see Dad happy and a joy to visit.

My mum has been in this care home since February 2022. I was extremely impressed with the first year of her stay and didn’t think they could exceed their care any more but they have more than done this, from the domestic staff right up to the manager, every department has gone above and beyond their duty in my opinion. My beautiful mum is in the late stages of dementia and life and we’ve seen my mum cared for in every stage, the kindness, professionalism, dedication and care they show not just her but me and her family is beyond expectation. If I could give them 100 stars I would. Myself and my siblings and our children (the grandchildren) cannot praise this care home enough. We also see the care and dedication they provide all the residents and it’s heartwarming

Absolutely brilliant care home, the support and love they have not only given my nan but my whole family. My nan went to Holmer Court in February 2022 and has a lovely little room with a massive window and flowers everywhere. It’s very cosy and just like home. My grandad would visit my nan nearly every day and when we unfortunately lost my grandad in December 2022 the care home went above and beyond with the comfort they gave the whole family during that time. The activities they put on for the residents on a daily basis and brilliant and fun for all! Even the families who come and join in, our favourite is a particular famous singer! My nan is in the later stages of dementia and it’s a very difficult time for us all but Holmer Court have been with us every step of the way and we will be forever grateful. If you are looking for a friendly, family, clean, and fun care home then this is definitely the one for your family member. It is a big family there.

We have just moved our Mum to Holmer Court Care Home from another care home she was forced into. The difference in the staff, the property, the facilities and the atmosphere are unbelievable. All of the anxiety and worry we felt following our Mum's neglect at the other home dissipated within a matter of two days. I am grinning from ear to ear knowing I can leave her and she will be safe and cared for properly when I’m not there. Thank you all at Holmer Court, you’re amazing.

From the moment the manager came to our house to discuss taking my father into their home we were confident that we had been lucky in finding this place. All of Dad's needs and likes including food, drink, TV, and hobbies were discussed. When we took Dad for his first day we had various talks with different staff as to what happens and the basic stuff going on. The chef even asked exactly what foods he liked and disliked. He's been there 5 days and surprisingly so far he has seemed pretty okay as we were a bit worried he wouldn't get on as he isn't the most sociable person. But it seems like he has. There are plenty of activities but Dad loves tv and there is no shortage of seats and televisions. Massive garden, very nice. All the staff are 100 percent fantastic. We have visited quite a lot so far and always feel welcome. They even make a dinner for you if you want one. I had the fish and chips, very very good. It is in a perfect location just outside Hereford. Or maybe now just inside Hereford!

We have recently moved mum to Holmer Court Care Home after a spell in a previous care home in the county. We have noticed such a difference! Holmer Court feels such a warm and caring environment and nothing has been too much trouble. Her care has been centred around her needs and we feel that everyone is treated according to their needs. The home feels like a big family and everyone seems happy to be there. The relief and happiness that we feel as a family to have found somewhere so exemplary is wonderful.

Claire BoulterJob Title:Home Manager

When you hear people say “ I love my Job” I am actually one who “ really does love their job” I have been in the care industry for over 20 years and have met so many special people. Working in a residential care home is like being with my extended family and family is what we are all about. We are so lucky to build such special bonds with the people we care for, which extends to their families and friends. The compliment of a family member entrusting us to care for their loved ones is an absolute privilege and we honour this by striving to deliver the excellent care and support they so much deserve.

Becky Webber
Becky WebberJob Title:Wellbeing Coordinator Lead

Being a Wellbeing Lead is about the little things more than the big. The moments in the day when you feel you have made a difference in people’s lives. This might be a conversation where I am told: “You brighten up my day; you are a ray of sunshine; oh good, a pink lady; they are the ones who can do anything; I know I can tell you, as I trust you and you will help me; you know you are my favourite; I love you”.

It might just be a smile, a good morning where, for that moment, I am a face of comfort. I am a friend, and a family member different to each person but always a person they know and trust. A face of love and contentment that makes my job worthwhile.

The time and effort I put into getting to know each Resident individually so that I become familiar and loved.

Seeing a Resident do something unfamiliar to them, such as dance, sing, talk, walk, little milestones, rewards me for the input I put in.

It is not just a job; it is an extended family that includes the staff. They are my support bubble, and we are there for each other in the good times and bad. Building relationships with the families is also very rewarding, being the stopgap to be an ear for any concerns they may have and making them feel welcome into the home. We rally together in times of need and ultimately do our roles to achieve the best possible life for everyone.

Sharon Matthews
Sharon MatthewsJob Title:Senior AdministratorJoined: 2016

I joined Holmer Court in 2016 as a part-time cook. After 12 months, with the support of our Manager Claire and my colleagues, I moved into a full-time role.

During that time, I got to know every resident personally, learning their likes, dislikes and unique personalities. The warmth and kindness at Holmer Court quickly made it feel like a second family.

I'm now, I'm a Senior Administrator, supporting multiple homes with administration, compliance and governance to help maintain the highest standards of care. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else. Being part of a team that provides such compassionate care to our residents makes me incredibly proud.
