My mum has been in this care home since February 2022. I was extremely impressed with the first year of her stay and didn’t think they could exceed their care any more but they have more than done this, from the domestic staff right up to the manager, every department has gone above and beyond their
duty in my opinion. My beautiful mum is in the late stages of dementia and life and we’ve seen my mum cared for in every stage, the kindness, professionalism, dedication and care they show not just her but me and her family is beyond expectation. If I could give them 100 stars I would. Myself and my siblings and our children (the grandchildren) cannot praise this care home enough. We also see the care and dedication they provide all the residents and it’s heartwarming

Absolutely brilliant care home, the support and love they have not only given my nan but my whole family. My nan went to Holmer Court in February 2022 and has a lovely little room with a massive window and flowers everywhere. It’s very cosy and just like home. My grandad would visit my nan nearly every
day and when we unfortunately lost my grandad in December 2022 the care home went above and beyond with the comfort they gave the whole family during that time. The activities they put on for the residents on a daily basis and brilliant and fun for all! Even the families who come and join in, our favourite is a particular famous singer! My nan is in the later stages of dementia and it’s a very difficult time for us all but Holmer Court have been with us every step of the way and we will be forever grateful. If you are looking for a friendly, family, clean, and fun care home then this is definitely the one for your family member. It is a big family there.

We have just moved our Mum to Holmer Court Care Home from another care home she was forced into. The difference in the staff, the property, the facilities and the atmosphere are unbelievable. All of the anxiety and worry we felt following our Mum's neglect at the other home dissipated within a matter
of two days. I am grinning from ear to ear knowing I can leave her and she will be safe and cared for properly when I’m not there. Thank you all at Holmer Court, you’re amazing.

From the moment the manager came to our house to discuss taking my father into their home we were confident that we had been lucky in finding this place. All of Dad's needs and likes including food, drink, TV, and hobbies were discussed. When we took Dad for his first day we had various talks with different
staff as to what happens and the basic stuff going on. The chef even asked exactly what foods he liked and disliked. He's been there 5 days and surprisingly so far he has seemed pretty okay as we were a bit worried he wouldn't get on as he isn't the most sociable person. But it seems like he has. There are plenty of activities but Dad loves tv and there is no shortage of seats and televisions. Massive garden, very nice. All the staff are 100 percent fantastic. We have visited quite a lot so far and always feel welcome. They even make a dinner for you if you want one. I had the fish and chips, very very good. It is in a perfect location just outside Hereford. Or maybe now just inside Hereford!
Reply from Claire Boulter, Manager at Holmer Court Care HomeThank you for your lovely feedback, it is greatly appreciated and it is lovely seeing how well your dad has settled in and enjoys his visits from his loved ones. I will pass this on to the team.

My Nan has been in Holmer Court Care Home since February 2022. The care that she has received there has been exemplary. We have never had any problems. All of the staff have been incredible in caring for my Nan. She is so incredibly happy in this home and for that myself and my family are very thankful.
The staff, residents and families are all like one big family.

We have recently moved mum to Holmer Court Care Home after a spell in a previous care home in the county. We have noticed such a difference! Holmer Court feels such a warm and caring environment and nothing has been too much trouble. Her care has been centred around her needs and we feel that everyone
is treated according to their needs. The home feels like a big family and everyone seems happy to be there. The relief and happiness that we feel as a family to have found somewhere so exemplary is wonderful.

Mum took up residence at Holmer Court at the start of March 2022. Naturally, it took her some time to settle into her new surroundings but throughout the process, the staff and management have gone above and beyond to make her feel welcome, loved and supported. I cannot speak more highly of the approach
that Holmer Court take to embracing all of their residents into the community of the home. From the manager on down the communication, understanding, and kindness shown to us the relatives and friends has been very much appreciated and whose visits have been accommodated so reassuringly in these challenging times.
Any small problems are dealt with speedily and considerately and if you are to judge a residential care home simply on the criteria of kindness, good humor, engagement and treating the residents with the dignity and support that they so deserve then Holmer Court ticks all the boxes. Mum could not be in safer or kinder hands.

I have been interacting with Holmer Court for several months now, including a half dozen on-site visits (although because of Covid I've not been able to see much of the facility first-hand). In terms of the personnel and staff, they truly are uniformly superb: caring, upbeat, leaving me well comforted
that my mother is getting the best care possible. Going from being alone in a tiny park home to the welcoming embrace of Holmer Court has literally transformed my Mum's life 100% in just a matter of weeks. She's lost much of her anxiety, endures much less physical discomfort, and revels in all the games, dancing, singing, and other social activities that take place there. She's much more consistently happy now. When I visited her recently, she was walking better and had put on some much-needed weight. The food is outstanding; my Mum's always been a very picky eater, but now she eats everything the chefs prepare for her. Again, what a delightful transformation! Thanks so much to all!

When I decided to look at care homes for Mum it was a very daunting, but after viewing a few in Hereford I then went to Holmer Court Care Home and instantly knew this was the right home for mum.
Mum was in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s and age 78 ( but always young at heart).
The manager was so
welcoming and after showing me around I picked up on the friendly happy atmosphere of the home which was lovely.
In order to put Mum at ease we went to the home a number of times when they had activities on, to slowly introduce mum to her new environment which really helped and put my mind at ease.
Over the 4 years mum lived in Holmer Court she made some lovely friends with the residents and all of the staff.
What I loved was how down to earth yet caring all the staff were, and nothing was too much trouble which really made a difference to mums quality of life.
There was always happiness and laughter in the background and the staff really do care for the residents, thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.771)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.771) out of 10 for Holmer Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.771 for Holmer Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (182 Excellents x 5) + (45 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 231 Ratings = 4.771
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Holmer Court Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager

When you hear people say “ I love my Job” I am actually one who “ really does love their job” I have been in the care industry for over 20 years and have met so many special people. Working in a residential care home is like being with my extended family and family is what we are all about. We are so lucky to build such special bonds with the people we care for, which extends to their families and friends. The compliment of a family member entrusting us to care for their loved ones is an absolute privilege and we honour this by striving to deliver the excellent care and support they so much deserve.

Becky

Becky

Job Title: Activities Coordinator

Being an Activities Coordinator is about the little things more than the big. The moments in the day when you feel you have made a difference in people’s lives. This might be a conversation where I am told: “You brighten up my day; you are a ray of sunshine; oh good a pink lady they are the ones who can do anything; I know I can tell you as I trust you and you will help me; you know you are my favourite; I love you”.

It might just be a smile, a good morning where for that moment I am a face of comfort. I am a friend, and a family member different to each person but always a person they know and trust. A face of love and contentment that makes my job worthwhile.
The time and effort I put into getting to know each Resident individually so that I become familiar and loved.

Seeing a Resident do something unfamiliar to them such as dance, sing, talk, walk, little milestones rewards me for the input I put in.

It is not just a job it is an extended family that includes the staff. They are my support bubble, and we are there for each other in the good times and bad. Building relationships with the families is also very rewarding being the stopgap to be an ear for any concerns they may have and making them feel welcome into the home. We rally together in times of need and ultimately do our roles to achieve the best possible life for everyone.

Job Title: Receptionist / PA Joined: 2016

I joined Holmer Court in 2016 on a part time basis as a cook and following support from the Manager, Claire and my colleagues, I went to full-time after 12 months.
During this time, I got to know every single resident personally, their likes, dislikes & personalities and the love that is in Holmer Court made me feel like part of a second family.
I’m now the Receptionist and PA to Claire and absolutely love it. Everyone at Holmer Court is amazing and I could not imagine working anywhere else. To be able to be a part of a team providing so much loving care to all our residents makes me feel proud.
