My Nan went to stay here from 2017 the staff were amazing always kept me up to date with Nan's health etc. When Nan passed away they invited me up to have a chat and talk about my Nan who they knew I adored. I do miss talking to the staff and residents felt like a big extended family.

The kindness and patience shown by all staff are very high. If you are worried the manager will be there to help you. I was worried before my Mum went to Holmer Court Care Home I had no need to, they have been marvelous.

I have been interacting with Holmer Court for several months now, including a half dozen on-site visits (although because of Covid I've not been able to see much of the facility first-hand). In terms of the personnel and staff, they truly are uniformly superb: caring, upbeat, leaving me well comforted that my mother is getting the best care possible. Going from being alone in a tiny park home to the welcoming embrace of Holmer Court has literally transformed my Mum's life 100% in just a matter of weeks. She's lost much of her anxiety, endures much less physical discomfort, and revels in all the games, dancing, singing, and other social activities that take place there. She's much more consistently happy now. When I visited her recently, she was walking better and had put on some much-needed weight. The food is outstanding; my Mum's always been a very picky eater, but now she eats everything the chefs prepare for her. Again, what a delightful transformation! Thanks so much to all!

When I decided to look at care homes for Mum it was a very daunting, but after viewing a few in Hereford I then went to Holmer Court Care Home and instantly knew this was the right home for mum.
Mum was in the middle stages of Alzheimer’s and age 78 ( but always young at heart).
The manager was so welcoming and after showing me around I picked up on the friendly happy atmosphere of the home which was lovely.
In order to put Mum at ease we went to the home a number of times when they had activities on, to slowly introduce mum to her new environment which really helped and put my mind at ease.
Over the 4 years mum lived in Holmer Court she made some lovely friends with the residents and all of the staff.
What I loved was how down to earth yet caring all the staff were, and nothing was too much trouble which really made a difference to mums quality of life.

There was always happiness and laughter in the background and the staff really do care for the residents, thank you.

What an amazing place, I can not thank the staff enough for the care they gave to my Dad. I moved him to Holmer Court Care Home when he was no longer able to stay in his own home even with live-in care. Dad wasn't the easiest of people to look after but everyone was kind, patient and very caring to him - I couldn't have asked for more. They were very proactive with looking after his needs and their communication with me was excellent. I never worried about him whilst he was there as I truly believe I could not have placed him anywhere better.

I cannot thank the staff at Holmer Court enough, I was impressed from the initial visit; Holmer court has such a welcoming, nurturing and caring ethos and this is embodied in the manager and every member of staff. Everyone is kind, supportive and caring. Holmer Court has managed Mum's transition into this new phase so well despite the ongoing difficulties caused but the pandemic. Nothing is too much trouble for the team, they are always cheerful and willing to answer questions and chat through worries. Mum seems so happy and has settled much more easily than we thought she would. She is always full of praise for the staff and talks so fondly about everyone. The team work hard to help residents establish friendships with other residents and settle into new routines. Everyone at Holmer Court has helped make a daunting situation much easier and this has meant so much; it is so reassuring to know Mum's needs are met with compassion, understanding and kindness.

If you are looking for a home for your loved one, Holmer Court is the one. All the staff are amazing, professional and friendly, and even in these unprecedented times when under great stress, have retained their sense of humour and given first-class care. During our face to face visits, Mum is always eager to return to the home... which proves to Dad and I, she is happy and content. Holmer Court in name, is a residential home, but to Mum, it is now her home.. to Dad and I, it is a safe and secure haven where we are happy to entrust our most precious item!

My brother was in a care facility after a major stroke in 2020, then Covid happened, recently with some amazing help from social care a place was found in Holmer Court, it’s been a learning curve as my brother is a complex character, has his full faculties but needed a high level of care, at first he found it hard to settle after spending upwards of 18 months in hospital and was then into a care facility while Covid raged. He was very distressed and angry.

He’s begun to settle in well at Holmer Court, there have been some teething troubles but the excellence of understanding by all the staff has been simply superb, he has been awkward at times and both the manager and her staff have risen to the challenges posed. He’s a picky eater and the cooks have helped enormously to satisfy his particular food likes. Overall, it’s always a difficult time when a family member enters care, but whoever may read this review I am happy to recommend Holmer Court as excellent!

I have always been impressed by the love, care and kindness shown to residents by staff. They treat all residents wonderfully, being very mindful of their dignity at all times. There is always love, laughter, humour, consideration and flexibility. The manager and staff are determined to create a loving family atmosphere.
The home is always clean and tidy. As a family member, I was always made to feel welcome and formed strong bonds with many of the staff.
Over the last year, with all the problems of a global pandemic, I really appreciated the effort that management and staff made to make sure I could continue to see Dad without compromising his, or my, safety; this was so important to me.

All care homes should be like Holmer Court Residential Home.

My mum moved to Holmer Court in October 2020 during the pandemic, and the staff have been so kind during this very challenging time. It’s a lovely, friendly home, and the whole staff are devoted to caring for its residents with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. Mum does have some challenging needs, which have all been addressed to enable her to settle well, and is now very happy in her new home.

Thank you so much, to the wonderful staff!

My partner's grandmother is in this care home and during the lockdown, they have been amazing. We had our first child (the resident's first great-grandchild) and Holmer have regularly helped us to video call the resident and help remind her about the baby by sharing photos we have sent. She always seems happy and well cared for too. Highly recommend.

The management and all staff have been extraordinarily kind and supportive to residents and family during an outbreak of covid 19. Their sensitivity to the concerns of the family, while the home was in isolation, was very good and reassuring. The home has managed visits well. It has also been apparent that continuing care even during such pressured times has been good probably aided by consistent staffing. I would like to see a wider diet with more savoury or fruit choice. It is good that there are space and freedom to go outside.

My husband went to Holmer Court in January 2019, after spending time in 2 other homes in Hereford. I wasn't happy with either of the other homes. The care, if you can call it that, was not what I expected for the fees they charge so I took him away from both of them.

Now that he is in Holmer Court, I am really happy with the care he gets from all of the staff and the rooms are really nice and homely and refurbished each time. I don't have to visit him every day now as I know he is well cared for and he seems quite happy and so am I. The food is good also.

My mother has been resident in Holmer Court for four years.

The reason we chose it was we called in one evening without an appointment and were shown round, it had a good ambience, was clean, smelt good and the staff were welcoming. Other places we had viewed by appointment were not as pleasant.

The staff make the place, they are all very good, and entertain the residents to avoid boredom.

In the past two years since my mother has been a resident, to know she is receiving excellent care and is safe, has been an enormous relief to myself and family. She looks well nourished and clean.

I have found all the staff very approachable and willing to answer any questions I have. I get regular updates on any treatment my mother is given.

Claire BoulterJob Title:Home Manager

When you hear people say “ I love my Job” I am actually one who “ really does love their job” I have been in the care industry for over 20 years and have met so many special people. Working in a residential care home is like being with my extended family and family is what we are all about. We are so lucky to build such special bonds with the people we care for, which extends to their families and friends. The compliment of a family member entrusting us to care for their loved ones is an absolute privilege and we honour this by striving to deliver the excellent care and support they so much deserve.

Becky Webber
Becky WebberJob Title:Wellbeing Coordinator Lead

Being a Wellbeing Lead is about the little things more than the big. The moments in the day when you feel you have made a difference in people’s lives. This might be a conversation where I am told: “You brighten up my day; you are a ray of sunshine; oh good, a pink lady; they are the ones who can do anything; I know I can tell you, as I trust you and you will help me; you know you are my favourite; I love you”.

It might just be a smile, a good morning where, for that moment, I am a face of comfort. I am a friend, and a family member different to each person but always a person they know and trust. A face of love and contentment that makes my job worthwhile.

The time and effort I put into getting to know each Resident individually so that I become familiar and loved.

Seeing a Resident do something unfamiliar to them, such as dance, sing, talk, walk, little milestones, rewards me for the input I put in.

It is not just a job; it is an extended family that includes the staff. They are my support bubble, and we are there for each other in the good times and bad. Building relationships with the families is also very rewarding, being the stopgap to be an ear for any concerns they may have and making them feel welcome into the home. We rally together in times of need and ultimately do our roles to achieve the best possible life for everyone.

Sharon MatthewsJob Title:Senior AdministratorJoined: 2016

I joined Holmer Court in 2016 as a part-time cook. After 12 months, with the support of our Manager Claire and my colleagues, I moved into a full-time role.

During that time, I got to know every resident personally, learning their likes, dislikes and unique personalities. The warmth and kindness at Holmer Court quickly made it feel like a second family.

I'm now, I'm a Senior Administrator, supporting multiple homes with administration, compliance and governance to help maintain the highest standards of care. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else. Being part of a team that provides such compassionate care to our residents makes me incredibly proud.
