The Leys welcomes older residents with physical and mental health needs but not requiring nursing care. At the heart of The Leys' person-centred approach is a simple philosophy endorsed by all of the staff: to provide care the way that they would wish for their own relatives.

The Leys aims to provide care in an environment that looks and feels like a home away from home. They believe this is why most of their residents come to them through the personal recommendations of people who know the home.

Detailed care plans are developed in a fully transparent manner and updated regularly to ensure that the best and most appropriate care is provided for each individual. They welcome the input of family and friends of individuals in their care and welcome visitors at any time.

I have been volunteering at The Leys for the past two years, coming almost every week from March through September to help residents with gardening and creative activities. It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of such a welcoming and positive environment. The home is always clean, the staff are
genuinely caring, and the residents consistently look happy and engaged. The food is amazing and being so well looked after is honestly one of the reasons I always look forward to coming back. Seeing the joy and pride residents take in the garden and creative projects is incredibly rewarding. The Leys truly feels like a place where people are respected, supported, and valued-it is without hesitation somewhere I would feel completely confident placing my own family.

I have been volunteering at The Leys Care Home every two months over the past 12 months, helping to decorate the home for important dates and celebrations. These have included residents' birthdays, Valentine's Day, VE Day, Easter and Christmas.
Each visit is centred around involving the residents as
much as possible. I encourage them to be creative and take part in decorating in their own way, which is always a joy to see. Watching their confidence grow and seeing their happy faces when they realise what they've created is incredibly rewarding.
These activities bring colour, conversation and excitement into the home, and it's wonderful to see how much the residents enjoy marking special occasions together. It has been a privilege to be part of these moments and to help create a warm, festive environment that truly feels like home.

This is such a lovely welcoming care home, staff are really kind and will go out of their way to make sure the residents are receiving the best care. It is exceptionally clean and well run, and as relatives we are always kept informed. There is always activities and entertainment going on, which makes
it a very happy environment. The bedrooms are exceptional and really homely. The meals are home cooked and always a variety.
There is a lovely garden and conservatory which residents can sit outside in the summer months and often you will see deer or rabbits which is so nice to see, a real home from home.

When mom needed looking after because her dementia was making it unsafe to leave her unattended, I went straight to the Leys. I have known the place & the manager for many years, I was friends & hairdresser to a lady who lived there over 10 years ago. She loved it & was so content there, the staff always
looked after her so well.
When I went & saw the lead carers so see if they could take my mom, they were so helpful, & supportive, giving me advice on how to proceed.
Mom has been there over 12 months now, & from the first meeting with the staff, who she instantly took to, to her move into the lovely comfy room there, she's been happier, & more relaxed than I've seen her in years.
When I visit, I chat to every one of the residents who are not busy. They always love to chat about what's been going on. Excersise sessions, where the whole group are encouraged to join in, & usually end up in fits of giggles. Craft days making seasonal decorations, or works of art, to brighten the rooms.

I would like to share my thoughts of The Leys Care Home and my experiences as the daughter of a current resident. I cannot believe how lucky we were to find The Leys Care Home. We were recommended by a family friend and thank goodness.
My experiences with all staff have been fabulous. They truly
are a caring group of people, headed up by Raj and Elaine who work tirelessly to make the residents lives comfortable in this small but oh so friendly home.
All of my interactions with the staff at The Leys have been positive and their kindness and commitment shine through. Mum is cared for in the best possible way.
The food is home cooked and if you visit just on a Sunday just before lunch, you will go home wishing you were able to book a table.
The home is clean and tidy and feels just like a home from home.
I love to see the postings on social media of all the residents enjoying the activities that are thoughtfully organised. The smiles on the residents faces, speak volumes. Thank you.

My Sister has been resident at the Leys for almost ten years and has not been the most easy of patients to deal with but the team led admirably by Jeanette and lately by Elaine, have risen to the challenge.
No situation is insurmountable and if they need my input they are quick to phone.
Irene is
not so active now and is almost bedbound but the staff have not given up on her and still find ways to involve her in the life of the home. Irene is happy at the Leys and any suggestion that she may have to move is met with great opprobrium. It would be very difficult to find a home of the same standard that is so welcoming in the Birmingham area.
Reply from Raj Dau, Director/Manager at The LeysThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. Your words mean a great deal to the whole team.
Caring for Irene over the years has been a privilege, and we truly appreciate your understanding and partnership along the way. Elaine, and the wider team will be very touched to hear that their efforts and commitment have been recognised. We strongly believe that no situation is insurmountable when we work together, and your involvement has always been valued.
Although Irene's needs have changed, our focus remains on ensuring she feels included, respected, and happy in her home. It is especially reassuring to hear that she feels settled and content at The Leys, as that is always our priority.
Thank you again for your thoughtful comments and continued trust in us.

My father has been in the Leys care since the sad passing of my mother in September 2024. The staff are caring, understanding and tuned in to the needs of my father I have always found them willing to discuss issues and find solutions to any issues my father has encountered. What I like about the home
is its friendliness of staff and residents as well as its feeling of homeliness. They have the welfare and wellbeing of the resident at its heart through its activities and its caring nature. I have not had any complaints from my father and he loves his cup of tea there which for a tea loving man is a bonus. I also like the fact if you wanted to go for a walk the grounds are more than sufficient for a walk in the summer all round the home is what my father would have expected from his own home but we his family have a knowledge he is safe and well looked after.

The Leys Care Home is exactly that, a Home that Really Cares.
All the staff are friendly and very welcoming. My Mum is so happy there. The care she receives is faultless. There are plenty of activities for the residents to take part in and entertainment that I know my Mum enjoys. I live in Stockport
and knowing my Mum is a resident in The Leys gives me real peace of mind. Thank you Raj and Team you are all wonderful!

I write this review as someone whose mother has been in The Leys for over 4 years. In all that time all I have ever witnessed is just pure love and support for all the residents and that is led by the Manager Elaine. The unwavering patience and kindness she has shown to my mother Hannah humbles me
to the core. She is a shining example of being totally selfless and putting other people first. Her team follow that example and are always ready to help Mom in any way they can. Mom has dementia and can be challenging at times but all they show her is kindness and are expert in dealing with her. On her good days she joins in the activities and on her bad days they let her rest and make sure she has everything she needs. She loves the food there and it always looks delicious and the residents are all chatting happily whilst having lunch or dinner. One thing that stands out for me to is all the entertainment and activities which are laid on also. You won't find a better home in the area
Reply from Raj Dau, Director/Manager at The LeysThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and thoughtful review. It truly means a great deal to Elaine and the entire team at The Leys to read your kind words.
We are incredibly proud of the care, compassion, and dedication shown to your mother Hannah, and it is wonderful to hear how supported and valued she feels with us. Caring for residents living with dementia is something we take very seriously, and your recognition of our team's patience, kindness, and understanding is deeply appreciated.
It is also lovely to know that Hannah enjoys the activities when she feels able, the opportunity to rest when she needs it, and of course the food and social atmosphere in the home. Creating a warm, supportive, and engaging environment for all our residents is at the heart of everything we do.
Thank you again for your trust and for your generous recommendation. Your words remind us why we do what we do every day.

I volunteer at The Leys Residential Care Home every quarter and I recently volunteered as part of the Mears Foundation, promoting health and wellbeing by taking part in creative art for the residents.
The staff are always kind, welcoming, and pleasant, and it's clear how much they genuinely care
about the residents. Every visit is filled with smiles, laughter, and positive energy.
The residents are lovely and always happy to participate in activities, which makes the experience so rewarding. As a keen abstract artist; I'm so heartened by the art the residents create and it makes it rewarding to be there with them to create it.
If I had a family member who needed residential care, I would certainly feel confident bringing them here. It's a truly wonderful place, and it's a pleasure to spend time there and see the positive impact the team has every day.

From the moment I stepped into The Leys I knew it was the perfect home for my dad. The home is spotlessly clean. The staff are outstanding happy friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.936)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.936) out of 10 for The Leys is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for The Leys is calculated as follows: ( (371 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 391 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Leys is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
