The Leys welcomes older residents with physical and mental health needs but not requiring nursing care. At the heart of The Leys' person-centred approach is a simple philosophy endorsed by all of the staff: to provide care the way that they would wish for their own relatives.

The Leys aims to provide care in an environment that looks and feels like a home away from home. They believe this is why most of their residents come to them through the personal recommendations of people who know the home.

Detailed care plans are developed in a fully transparent manner and updated regularly to ensure that the best and most appropriate care is provided for each individual. They welcome the input of family and friends of individuals in their care and welcome visitors at any time.

I live in the US, my mother spent two wonderful years at The Leys. Whenever I would visit I was welcomed in with a smile the staff were always pleasant no matter what time it was. The home was always clean, the meals were excellent the table was always set with placemats that were like I would have
set my own table. My mother was very happy at The Leys, it was her home away from home. I was always informed of any issues and I was able to phone her from the US. I could not have asked for better care in mum’ s last days, a carer would sit with her, music was played for her. Even when she stopped communicating someone was always talking to her. I have a special place in my heart for one special lady, I always knew mum was being well cared for and that meant a great deal to our family because we were so far away. I would highly recommend The Leys to any family who is in need of a Care home, the staff are what I called my Guardian Angels they are very special people , God Bless them all.

I wanted to share an email I wrote to the team at the Leys. I live in North America and my Mum is a resident at here.

THANK YOU! (Please can you pass on my thanks to your team too).

Mum is looking, sounding and acting brilliantly. I can't believe the change in her since she returned to you. She

is more engaged and looks content, safe, well and happy. She looks like Mum again!

Thanks also to you and your staff whenever I call. Everyone is so open and friendly with me. It's like calling home. They always take the extra time to get mums iPad and to make sure she is established using it, and they usually have a cheery wave and kind word for me too.

I am a long way away and experience far less stress now as a result of all your kind care, and integration of mum into your community.

Thank you all so much.

The Leys is one of the very few homes where all the staff really care for the residents. More than two years since I first met the team, the strength and consistency of their welcome makes it a joy either to visit mum or to return her home where she is, in her own words, very very happy. Mum knows just
how much she is valued within the family and nothing is too much trouble to ensure she gets the most from each and every day with all the staff caring for mum as they would their own parents. It's the attention to detail, ensuring mum is never far away from a special friend, whether in the dining room (recently decorated and beautifully furnished as an old-fashioned tea room), joining in with the activities each and every day or in her beloved conservatory where she can enjoy the extensive garden with all the wildlife. If you want somewhere very special for your loved one, look no further!
Reply from Amit Midha, Director at The LeysThank you Susan. It's lovely to have your mum back. We're glad you like the refurbishment!

I have visited The Leys regularly over the last two years as a friend of a resident. I have always found the staff to be very welcoming, courteous and friendly. The atmosphere at the Leys is one of a large family where all the residents are treated with love respect dignity and great care. The location
and physical building give The Leys a feel of a homely environment, not at all institutional. It is well managed and safe and secure.
My friend who is a resident there refers to The Leys as "home" not "a home" which shows how comfortable and happy she is there. Having experienced two other care homes in the local area there is simply no comparison in the standard of care with the Leys.
The wonderful staff care for the residents with a very personal touch and great humour. Their physical health is well looked after though there could be more activities.

Having an elderly mother myself, should she need to go into care I wouldn't hesitate to have the ladies at The Leys look after her.

There is always a welcome when we visit mom as soon as the door is opened. You are free to wonder around the home so nothing is hidden. If there is a problem, there is no difficulty in mentioning it. Cleanliness is good and the variety of food is excellent. Although the building is old and could benefit
from some modernisation, the loving and caring atmosphere is excellent. The grounds are lovely and green and the bird feeders and visiting deer keep the residents entertained. As with most care homes, there seems to be too much sitting with the TV on but in the last few months, things seem to be being put into place to address this. Mom couldn't be happier.

I have been visiting The Leys for at least 15 years as a friend and visitor to residents. It is one of the nicest homes in the area because it is small and therefore the residents have their individual caring care that large homes do not have. The residents always look clean and tidy and the aim for
the staff is to treat residents as how their parents would like to be treated. Also, the manager and assistant manageress have been there for many years, before I started going.

Since my father-in-law came down from Scotland we have been very pleased with the service given from your home. His room is adequate, he enjoys the food and the staff are very nice. When we let them know we are taking him out he is always ready to go and taking him back at night is no problem. The
garden is very nice and I am pleased he now sits out there. As his dementia get worse I am confident he will still have a nice life at The Leys.

The Leys residential home is situated in the beautiful Warwickshire countryside, the staff are all so friendly and welcoming. Over the 8 years my mother has been there, they all feel like extended family. The homely atmosphere (and the lovely smell of home cooking) means the residents feel safe, secure,
but more importantly, looked after in a family environment, something which has been very beneficial for my mother.

There are frequent concerts, events etc, jigsaw puzzles and books are out and about (not put away in cupboards) and the garden is a wildlife haven, which residents can enjoy. The owner is hands-on, as are the manager and deputy. This is the kind of home our elderly should all have.

Mum recently died whilst a resident at The Leys and I have nothing but praise for the staff. Management often go above and beyond what would ordinarily be expected and give the impression that nothing is too much trouble. All the staff were very kind, caring, dedicated and upheld mum's dignity to the
end. For the last few weeks mum needed nursing care but the staff were able to maintain a level of care which surpassed an ordinary care home allowing her to end her days in a safe and caring place that had for just a short while become her home. The attitude of the staff gave me the reassurance and knowledge that I needed to understand that she was being looked after far better than I could have done, even if she had lived with me. I looked at approx eight homes in the local area and The Leys stood head and shoulders above the rest. Although this is not a purpose built unit, it has the feeling of a 'house and home' rather than a 'care home'. I had no worries in leaving mum in their hands.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.936)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.936) out of 10 for The Leys is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 33 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.936 for The Leys is calculated as follows: ( (371 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 391 Ratings = 4.936
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Leys is based on 33 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 33 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
