My sister and I instantly fell in love with Bowbrook House and knew it was the perfect place for our elderly Mother, who suffers from dementia. As soon as the door opened, we were greeted with the most friendly staff and an overwhelming feeling of warmth and hominess. Mother has been with Bowbrook House
now for 2 years, and the excellent care she receives never fails; every possible need is taken care of in a warm and caring manner. The staff and management cannot do enough. The personal care mum receives with regard to her dignity, nourishment, activity, feeling of security, warmth, the list is endless, and is second to none. Mother stays at Bowbrook 3 times a week and occasionally for longer respite care. She thoroughly enjoys her time there, coming home chuckling, saying what a lovely time she's had and how kind they are. The continuity of staff is commendable. Mother loves to see all the familiar faces. We feel so blessed to have found Bowbrook for our mother. Thank you all at Bowbrook House.

My mother has been a resident since September 202 and prior to this a day resident.
The care and kindness she has received has been excellent in every way. She has a lot of stimulation and is always treated with great respect. Her health needs are attended to quickly and the home contact the GP promptly
and inform the family with the outcome. I am very happy that my mother is so contented and cared for.

I could not fault the care and support my Dad received from everyone at Bowbrook House. The home is welcoming and has a friendly family atmosphere. The care is person-centred with the care team reviewing Dad regularly to ensure they met his changing needs. All the team from carers to the owner were
brilliant in Dad's final days supporting us as well as ensuring Dad was comfortable paying attention to every detail.

We have been very pleased with all aspects of the care home experience. We wanted a place to bring our mother to that was local, homely, welcoming and safe. The management and staff have been both respectful and caring of my mother's needs and took time to get to know and understand her. She has settled
well and made a small group of friends; she joins in the activities and enjoys the entertainment. If there have been any issues or concerns, the carers have been in touch with us directly and organised the support required. We feel confident in the care and support given at the home and find the staff helpful and friendly.

After five months at Bowbrook House, I have improved enormously in health and attitude to life. I am 87 now. I hope to go home at the end of this month. My main complaint is the food is very boring and repetitive - I bring in my own! The patients have dementia in most cases so complaints are non-existent
(except mine!) I do not have any sign of dementia (yet!). There are two staff who are the best.

From my initial phone conversation with the management and staff, through to visiting the home with my 90-year-old mother, to making arrangements for her to move into Bowbrook House was faultless. Professionalism, empathy, kindness, understanding and patience has been at the heart of each and every
member of staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble to ensure my mother received the highest standard of care in every way. The home environment is warm and friendly, offering a variety of activities and opportunities for each resident. My mother's room was fresh and bright with a pleasant outlook, her dietary requirements were met according to her needs and the laundry service was very efficient - nothing was ever too much trouble. We all want the best for our family, I was fortunate to find the best and would highly recommend Bowbrook House, such a lovely, homely home.

The family feel they have been extremely fortunate in securing a place for Mother at Bowbrook House in 2019. We have found the staff very attentive and supportive and consider them highly dedicated. The home functions extremely well and hygiene and cleanliness are of a high standard. We would not hesitate
to recommend this small haven amongst so many other local establishments. Well done English Care and thank you so much.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.639) out of 10 for Bowbrook House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.889 for Bowbrook House is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.889
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowbrook House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
