The Field House Care Home is a beautiful, cosy residential home in the rolling hills of Shropshire. Church Stretton as a town has recently been voted one of the best places to live in Shropshire, due to its outstanding views and community spirit.

The dedicated team of staff work together to provide the residents with the best care possible, in a home from home atmosphere. Carers achieve this by working as a robust team that operates by treating everyone as if they were their own grandparents!

The rooms have spacious en-suite facilities with lovely views, which can be decorated with their own personal furniture, photographs, pictures and anything else that may make it feel as close to home as possible.

Person-centred care is at the heart of everything that happens at Field House, with residents' needs and preferences being considered at all times. The meals are delicious and freshly prepared in the home's kitchen. There is always a full activities schedule, in which all residents will find something that they enjoy, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

I visited my cousin for the first time today as part of a larger group. The welcome was warm and genuine and my cousin clearly feels at home. His room is wonderful - bright, well decorated and his own furniture makes the transition easier. We were told of quiz events, social evenings and enjoyable mealtimes.
I was able to speak to the manager and employee of the month (September) - both of whom were professional and kind.

I visited my friend's mom and the welcome I received was fantastic, the home was clean and tidy and nothing seemed like it was too much trouble. I was given coffee and cake and when I left I felt like I had been out for afternoon tea.

Mum is really well looked after here. The staff always go out of their way to make sure she's happy and comfortable and are always very welcoming when I visit. The activities are great for keeping Mum busy and it feels very homely and tidy.

Dad came to The Field House Care Home in February on respite care. The manager and the team have been amazing with him. He very quickly settled in and we realised that he was much better staying at Field House rather than going home. He is cared for brilliantly, he has gone from having no appetite to
eating well and putting weight on. The member of staff does amazing the activities and I am shocked that Dad is joining in with them all. He is smiling and happy all the time which is something I haven't seen for a long time when he was at home. Massive thanks to all at Field House.

I have now visited my friend in the home about 6 times and have found the atmosphere homely and have found a big improvement in my friend's physical and mental state. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Nothing seems to be much trouble for them. The food is extremely good and varied and my
friend has got her appetite, which she had lost before she came into the home.

My friend is transformed since she went to live at The Field House Care Home. She started eating well and looks so much better. he loves the company and has nothing but praise for the staff who also make us very welcome when we visit weekly.

My father regarded The Field House Care Home as his second home. He was incredibly happy there and regarded the staff with great affection and as his friends. Dad was always treated with respect and as an individual. The standard of care was exceptional. I have no problem recommending Field House to

My father could not have received any better care and this is the most vulnerable time in his life. He was treated with dignity and respect and it was most reassuring knowing that living with us geographically quite a distance away he was always in safe hands. The chef took great care in preparing nutritionally
appropriate and delicious food. Very satisfied.

Field House Care Home staff were incredibly compassionate, and loving towards my mum. As it turned out, a little unexpectedly, end-of-life care was what they provided and all of the staff were generous, calm and patient. In every way, we felt confident and supported by everyone, even though we didn't
know people for very long.
Mum had the dignity and respect that we felt would only be possible at home. We felt that a great deal of the burden was taken off our shoulders and we could spend some precious and special time with mum at the end of her life. The atmosphere of the home was very lovely. There was always a sense of genuine caring, chatter and interest that we observed between staff and residents. One day we saw the chef having a really delightful conversation with a resident. All the staff, whoever they were, seemed to have the same sunny and compassionate approach, not just to residents, but to visitors too. We thank you all very much for all you did for us.

The staff at Barchester The Field House Care Home are excellent, always very friendly and helpful. The room is well maintained and clean, light and airy. Only downside is that the toilet/hand basin room is quite small making manoeuvring with the walker quite tight and difficult.
The atmosphere of the
home is very pleasant and friendly, unlike some that we visited prior to selecting Field House.
Very happy that Mum is being well cared for.

We had hoped our mother could end her days at home with our help, but her health declined rapidly and we needed more people, especially for night time care. We booked her into Field House Care Home, as being the nicest we saw. It's like a small hotel, but with lots of people to call on and watch over
you. The care provided was excellent and as Mum's health continued to decline, Field House dealt very well with her changing needs. We had booked Mum in initially for four weeks, but she declined further and passed away after two weeks. The care home was particularly brilliant the last few days, seeing what was happening and calling in the right NHS nursing teams. At home, we’d have been given the NHS 111 run-around, but Mum's terminal NHS care was managed in an exemplary way by the care home, knowing which local NHS team to call and when. We thoroughly recommend the Field House.

What a lovely home. Staff are more than helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. They all seem to go above and beyond to meet residents' needs, and I don’t think they could do any more than they already do. The food is absolutely fantastic.
I think the care, food and quality of living here are perfect.

Paula Wiggan

Job Title: General Manager Joined: 2021

Hi, my name is Paula, and I am the General Manager here at Field House.


I started working in the care sector when I was 20 years old after assisting my grandmother when she was ill. When I lost my grandmother, I decided that I had lots to offer to the care sector and that this is where I wanted to pursue my career. I started as a care assistant and gradually worked my way up the ladder to Deputy Manager at a sister care home within Barchester.


In January 2021, I was offered a wonderful opportunity to become the General Manager at Field House. It is an honour and privilege to be the General Manager at this home and to build relationships with residents and their families.


I truly believe that Field House is the best care setting and has the best care team in Shropshire. Together we are creating a home for every resident where they can pursue their hobbies, stay safe and enjoy new experiences.

Field House is a lovely home full of fun. I not only enjoy my responsibilities but I work to make a difference in other people’s lives. Caring is a part of me not just a job and it is wonderful to be able to do something I love every day.

Hi, my name is Stella, and I am proud to be the Head Chef at Field House. I am responsible for providing a top class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.


Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents. I spend time with each new resident to ensure that my team and I are aware of their preferences and favourites when they first move in to Field House.

Caroline Davis

Job Title: Activities Coordinator Joined: 2021

Hi, I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.


Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, and weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.


In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

Larry Jones

Job Title: Head of Maintenance Joined: 2023

Hello, my name is Larry and I'm the Head of Maintenance here at Field House. My previous experience includes 16 years as a maintenance manager for another care provider. I'm ex-military; 1st Battalion, The Light Infantry and Marines. I'm a local man, a doting granddad to 8 grandchildren and a keen gardener. Having spoken to our residents we're all looking forward to setting up a Field House allotment with a weather greenhouse.

Prior to coming to Field House, I worked in retail and then spent five years at home raising my beautiful daughter.


I thoroughly enjoyed coming into the care sector; it feels really rewarding every day when I go home, to know that I have made a difference in so many people’s lives.

Mandy is a very busy lady, always giving assistance to people who need it she always has time for chat on her rounds.
Mandy embraces the whole home approach when the team need a helping hand Mandy is always there.

Lel Leigh

Hi, my name is Lel, and I am the Administrator here at Field House.


My team and I coordinate and facilitate all administration within the home for residents and staff.


My role includes supporting residents and their families with any financial matters that arise, whether they need help setting up a new Sky subscription or ordering a special present for a favourite grandchild.
