The Field House Care Home is a beautiful, cosy residential home in the rolling hills of Shropshire. Church Stretton as a town has recently been voted one of the best places to live in Shropshire, due to its outstanding views and community spirit.

The dedicated team of staff work together to provide the residents with the best care possible, in a home from home atmosphere. Carers achieve this by working as a robust team that operates by treating everyone as if they were their own grandparents!

The rooms have spacious en-suite facilities with lovely views, which can be decorated with their own personal furniture, photographs, pictures and anything else that may make it feel as close to home as possible.

Person-centred care is at the heart of everything that happens at Field House, with residents' needs and preferences being considered at all times. The meals are delicious and freshly prepared in the home's kitchen. There is always a full activities schedule, in which all residents will find something that they enjoy, in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Spent 2 weeks here after having a hip replacement.

An amazing team with wonderful dispositions. My mother was staying for respite and has fallen in love with the home and the girls. You can tell that the girls eat, sleep and breath care and how they can make things better for the residents. They look for new interactive activities constantly

Field House and its staff have been wonderful looking after my husband's aunty, from the initial assessment all the way through to her moving on to a new care home due to her dementia needs. The care given and shown, along with patience and time, has been so heartfelt. I would recommend to anyone to
go and visit and talk to the management to see if it suits them.

When I had respite care following an eye operation, I noticed how helpful the staff were to residents with mobility problems. When I fell and broke my arm I asked the hospital to phone Field House to see if they had a space. Luckily they did.

From the outset, even the initial phone call I made to inquire about The Field House was handled with care and professionalism. This followed with an assessment in a difficult situation handled extremely sensitively and tactfully to cause the least distress and collect the information required. Care
has been of the highest standard along with good food. Cleanliness and a general "can do" attitude which is refreshing to find.

From visiting them without notice and given a tour. I was very impressed with all aspects of the home. With my aunt we quickly decided to obtain a quote and within a week. She was a resident/ No regrets, just happiness all round.

Paula Wiggan

Hi, my name is Paula, and I am the General Manager here at Field House.


I started working in the care sector when I was 20 years old after assisting my grandmother when she was ill. When I lost my grandmother, I decided that I had lots to offer to the care sector and that this is where I wanted to pursue my career. I started as a care assistant and gradually worked my way up the ladder to Deputy Manager at a sister care home within Barchester.


In January 2021, I was offered a wonderful opportunity to become the General Manager at Field House. It is an honour and privilege to be the General Manager at this home and to build relationships with residents and their families.


I truly believe that Field House is the best care setting and has the best care team in Shropshire. Together we are creating a home for every resident where they can pursue their hobbies, stay safe and enjoy new experiences.

I am responsible for providing a top class dining experience and ensuring that the menus reflect the high standards that every resident should enjoy. I am constantly speaking with residents to find out what foods they prefer, the way they like things presented and how I can make every meal a great experience.


Working with the care staff to ensure each resident's unique dietary requirements are met, is just one of the ways that my kitchen team support the health and well-being of our residents. I spend time with each new resident to ensure that my team and I are aware of their preferences and favourites when they first move in to Field House.

Hi, I joined Field House in 2021 from another Barchester home. I have worked in care for the last 30 years and a big part of that has been with Barchester.


Here at Field House, I organise a variety of activities and social events within the home and in the community, such as gardening club arts and crafts, and weekly exercise sessions along with live singers and musicians every month. We are also keen on regular outings to local landmarks, museums, cafes and shopping centres.


In my job, I'm able to develop excellent relationships with residents and their families providing the support they need. I am very passionate about my job role as it is very important to us as a team that every individual is able to live the life they wish and feel fulfilled in their everyday activities maintaining past hobbies and finding new ones.

I'm ex-military; 1st Battalion, The Light Infantry and Marines. I'm a local man, a doting granddad to 8 grandchildren and a keen gardener. Having spoken to our residents we're all looking forward to setting up a Field House allotment with a weather greenhouse.
