My mother came to Landona with quite advanced dementia/Alzheimer’s in summer 2021 aged 90. At first her transition to care was extremely stressful for her but staff were patient and considerate and certainly contributed positively to her acceptance of her new surroundings and even as her condition inevitably
deteriorated with age she continued to receive excellent and friendly care from all staff which continued right up to her recent death. The level of care and compassion shown was simply above and beyond.

My mother was a resident of Landona House for seven and a half years until her death there in January 2023. She had been lonely living alone in her own home and had become quite thin. When she became unsafe, we were lucky enough to be able to get her into Landona House. Once she got used to living there
she was very happy and enjoyed the company of the other residents, the attention of the carers and the fact that there was always something going on.
I have never eaten there myself but the food must be good because Mum enjoyed it and put on quite a bit of weight. Mum was treated with kindness and compassion and could not have been better cared for. It was a great comfort to me to know that she was safe, well looked after and happy. Whenever I visited Mum the staff always made me welcome and were very kind, friendly and helpful. I would certainly recommend Landona House.

Mum was looked after with great care and patience. It was always apparent that she was very much treated as an individual and not just as a resident - the staff knew her, knew her idiosyncrasies and the things that gave her pleasure and it was clear that they took great pleasure themselves in seeing
her looked after and happy.
Landona House Care Home and Mum’s room in it were always kept clean and comfortable.
Staff were always friendly and accommodating towards me and I was always made to feel welcome on visits.
I’m tremendously grateful that Mum was so well looked after in her last years.

My mother spent the last two years of her life at Landona House and was looked after wonderfully well by the manager and all of the staff. They were so caring, kind and friendly where nothing was too much trouble. There was always a happy and homely atmosphere there. I was always made to feel so welcome
every time I visited and able to phone up and speak to mom any time during the day which was a godsend, especially during the Covid lockdowns. The residents have a lot of varied entertainment during the week where they can interact as they require and the food is excellent and varied. The staff seem to have that special bond with the residents which is so important. I cannot recommend Landona house highly enough and think it is a wonderful place.

The time my mother spent at Landona House was a happy one. The staff were compassionate and caring accommodating her needs whilst endeavouring to maintain her independence. She enjoyed the planned afternoon activities and the food. The home has a relaxed family feel about it, which was beneficial to
my mother. In her final few days, the support to myself and the care for my mother was excellent, they could not have done more to ensure the comfort of both of us.

My husband has been a resident at Landona House for the last five weeks. It is the best care home I've been in. The staff are kind caring and approachable. The food is excellent. The residents have bingo, quizzes and other entertainment most days of the week. I would have no qualms in recommending Landona
House.

I am always made very welcome, all the staff from the top to the bottom are helpful caring and kind, nothing is too much trouble. There is a good atmosphere and residents are encouraged to join in with activities.

My mother used this home until she passed away in March 2022.
Excellent care, kind pleasant and helpful staff. Lovely home in a good setting with great food, staff and care qualities.

Thank you, Landona House care staff. You were so kind to my mum during her stay with you.


She came to you following a long stay in hospital where she was not well-treated and she arrived traumatised. She was confused, afraid, unhappy, and isolated, afraid of the unknown but, also, ready to give up.


Things were not easy but, through your perseverance and concern to see my mum as a precious individual and to learn from her, she began to have hope again. You were always accommodating and happy to discuss aspects of her care and health. You were also compassionate towards her needs and those of her loved ones.


These are difficult times when real care is no longer easy to deliver and in increasingly short supply. Thank goodness then that my mum came to you. I just wish there had been more of you so that you weren't all spread so thin.

Mum entered Landona in May this year and after an initial period settling in quickly became happy and aware she was being fully cared for. Unfortunately, her health started to deteriorate after three months, but the care she then received was excellent with compassion not only for her, but her immediate
family due to the additional burden placed on everyone due to the impact of the pandemic. Staff were always prepared to listen, cared for Mum's well being at all times in the twilight of her life and the home is very well led by a very engaging and caring Manager. Building itself is a little outdated, but what truly matters is the care given and we wish to express our thanks for that and to all the staff at Landona.

Mum entered the home towards the end of May and remained there until her death in late October. Throughout that period her care was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and caring, taking time and patience to help her complete her daily tasks. They treated her with respect and kindness at all times,
making sure her final days were comfortable. It was lovely for her to spend those last couple of months among people she knew rather than being sent to hospital. She was well fed throughout with plenty of drinks available and she enjoyed the company and entertainment while she was able to do so. While the home itself is not in the most modern of buildings the warmth and compassion she was met with far outstripped her physical surroundings and this is what is the most important. As a visitor, I was always warmly welcomed.

The Manager and the staff at Landona made my mum’s recuperation stay very comfortable and pleasant. They were so kind to her and she was so grateful for the way she was looked after. It was a relief to know she was being looked after so well with kindness and dignity. Thank you all.

Much appreciated that mum was in a caring, friendly, and family environment. All staff led by an excellent manager were always caring, patient, and helpful to both residents and visitors. Quick to deal with health issues, kept me well informed, and provided much comfort to mum in her final days. Understandable
covid restriction made visiting difficult but the manager was helpful at adapting to mums circumstances. Sadly mum deteriorated quite quickly so unable to participate in numerous activities provided, but was thrilled with the pom pom she made - pictures on Facebook to prove it!.

My father was a resident in Landona from February to July 10th 2021. Without exception every single member of staff, including chefs, cleaners and carers is absolutely exceptional. Each member of staff ensures that at all times residents are treated with respect and dignity. The overwhelming feel of
the care home is one of 'family', one big family. Each resident is valued and treated as an individual.
The care is exception, professional and team members carry out their duties with a smile on their faces.
I could not have wished for a better place for my father to end his days. He did more 'living' in the last 5 months of his life than he had in the last 5 years.
Activities that residents truly enjoy are well thought out, very worthwhile. My father particularly enjoyed the music-based activities and it is clear from the photographs (particularly on the Landona Facebook page) that he was frequently the 'disco boogie' king ie the only one on his feet dancing to the music!

My late mother stayed at Landona House from January 2020 until January 2021. The care she received during this time was exceptional. The home has a lovely friendly atmosphere with regular activities put on for the residents. It was unfortunate that my mother's stay, however, fell at the same time as
COVID and as a result, we were unable to visit as often. We would like to thank, in particular, the home's manager for his genuine compassion, care and all the help and support he gave at that difficult time.

My Uncle went to Landona - initially for emergency respite - eventually staying almost 3 months. Nothing was too much trouble for the amazing staff at Landona. The food, the entertainment and the cleanliness were impeccable. Above all else though, where Landona really comes into its own, is the feeling
of homeliness and warmth. The staff are all so compassionate and friendly - not only with their residents but with their families alike. I cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone looking for a homely and friendly environment where they will receive top-quality nursing care. Moreover, you can be assured that in our experience, residents will also be treated with respect and dignity and their wishes always be listened to.

I have found the care delivered to my father to be exceptional. He is always well presented. It has been a difficult time during Covid-19, not being able to visit him as we would normally. However, all efforts have been made to allow contact with my father, either via telephone or through the window.
I have always observed staff to be wearing the appropriate PPE, and yet maintain a caring and familiar relationship with my father. He lost weight prior to admission, he has since gained and says that the food is lovely. I cannot thank the Management, Activities Coordinator and Care Staff enough for all they do.

Visiting as a volunteer before lockdown. Staff are very caring and kind and very understanding, under sometimes difficult situations. Food looks and smells wonderful! Lots of fun and laughter while some games were played by the activities lady. Overall, a real home from home.
