Family concerned, were initially impressed by facilities and the attention our case was given by Tracey, however we were uneasy with weekend cover and with what appeared to be segregation of those with dementia from the alert, frail category. There appeared to be segregated dining arrangements and access to the four star lounge area particularly noticeable on weekends.
Another issue was the business practice of forfeiting one months fees in lieu of a months notice ,regardless of circumstances. Although condition was set out in the contract, during times of stress and or emergencies one is not able to take in everything.
We are sorry to learn that your family's experience did not meet your expectations and we feel it is important to clarify that the points raised do not accurately reflect the care and environment at Netherwood.
Our approach to dementia care is...
As a daughter, you worry constantly, but I've had daily calls with updates from members of the care team - they are all upbeat and compassionate..
the place itself is positive and vibrant, every member of staff regardless of their role is friendly and approachable.
It's only been a week, but Netherwood has already exceeded any expectations.
Thank you.
This care home is exceptional. After looking at many care homes in Shropshire this one stood out for us. Exceptionally clean with beautiful gardens which residents use in the warm weather. The staff are very friendly, approachable and empathetic. My mother is extremely happy here, always laughing and having a smile on her face when we visit. There are lots of daily activities that keep the residents happy which my mother really enjoys. There is a cinema and a hairdressing room which are excellent. The food is amazing and the kitchen staff and chef always cater for her needs. Highly recommended.
All the staff know the residents as individuals and treat them accordingly with dignity and respect. The rooms and shared areas are clean and well maintained. We have not actually sampled the food, but the menus appear varied and drink and snacks are provided on a regular basis throughout the day.
Any issues are listened to and dealt with by the appropriate member of staff albeit care staff or management/admin. Any delays are usually outside their control eg waiting for appointments with the appropriate NHS professional.
We now feel we are able to go away for a few days safe in the knowledge that my MIL is safe and well cared for.
After several months residency our initial thoughts about Netherwood have been reinforced from the manager to the maintenance team. We visit mom regularly, staff are always friendly, cheerful and attentive to the resident's needs. The management are always approachable and willing to speak to you keeping you informed regarding health issues etc. The care staff are friendly and caring towards individual residents, conversing and addressing each resident by name.
The kitchen staff provide a varied menu, catering for individual needs. Rooms are clean and tidy, the laundry is washed and returned to the residents' rooms regularly. Clothes can appear in the wrong room. Residents items can go missing but every effort is made to try and find them.
I would recommend Netherwood Care Home
Mum has been a resident for 18months. Overall care and facilities are excellent. Care is very much personalised to each resident's needs. The staff are long term employees - you always see familiar faces. The management team responded quickly and flexibly to a recent request to host an online mental capacity assessment in relation to selling Mum's former home. They accommodated the request at very short notice while remaining professional.
All my Aunts needs were assessed quickly and her transfer to the care home facilitated
efficiently and also helpful to the family to ensure this stressful process was conducted professionally.
The staff have been brilliant in helping my aunt to get used to her new surroundings which is crucial in helping her to settle.
Early days I know but we are comforted that she is in a safe, warm, comfortable place being looked after and cared for.
The staff and management are very friendly and a seemingly nothing is too much trouble attitude.
I can't thank all the staff enough for looking after my father-in-law and the care and respect he was given in his final days.
Staff are kind, considerate and efficient and i always feel that mom is safe and well looked after, i am aware that not all care homes are as caring as Netherwood, which adds to how pleased we are with the care she receives , mom is physically better than she has been for years.
Mum has been at Netherwood since June and she has settled in well. Physically her mobility has improved massively and she has gained confidence walking with her frame. She eats really well and loves a cooked breakfast. The staff are all hardworking and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It's a huge comfort to us knowing Mum is safe especially as we live in Berkshire.
I visited this care home where my great nan lives and was really impressed. The staff are kind and caring, the home is welcoming and clean, and my great nan is well looked after. It's comforting to see how happy, safe, and well supported the residents are. Highly recommend.
We cant thank the team enuf at netherwood for what thay do for my mom and us . We know she gets the best care and support from all the team there , which in turn gives us a huge sense of relief an peace of mind , knowing that all her needs are met in this warm and caring environment
My mother's health and general well being in our opinion has improved since she arrived
We are sure this is down to the time given to her and involvement with the cares on a daily basis.
Happy with all the services and care given to Mum. I am informed of any issues immediately and feel very welcome and involved whenever i attend and on first name terms with everyone including other residents.
difficult challenging situations with patience and humour. The bathing facilities would benefit from updating. I would recommend Netherwood to other families.
My nan has been at Netherwood Care Home in Shifnal for several years and we honestly couldn't be happier with the care she receives. The staff are incredibly kind, patient and genuinely caring. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they always go the extra mile to make residents feel valued and comfortable.
The activities are excellent and well thought out, keeping residents engaged and involved, and my nan really enjoys taking part. The food is also brilliant, good quality, well cooked and plenty of choice, which gives us great reassurance.
Netherwood feels warm, welcoming and very well run, but it's the people that truly make the difference. Knowing my nan is safe, happy and so well cared for means everything to our family.
I would highly recommend Netherwood to anyone looking for a care home for a loved one,
Comfortable residence
Good food. Warm
Friendly and helpful staff
Easy communication and contact. Straightforward contract. Caters for varied resident's needs
Unsure about laundry system as some items gone missing
Oh, how I wish we had done it sooner!
The level of care is exemplary and it's very obvious that the Manager is very proud of her team and that this is a happy place for both staff and residents alike.
Really could not find a fault and highly recommend.
From our initial phone call we were listened to, reassured and the care for Mum was exceptional. Everyone knew Mum and took the time to chat to her and get to know her. She was always clean and extremely well cared for.
They got my Mum laughing, smiling and walking again, which we didn't think we would ever see.
Sadly we lost Mum recently but Netherwood were so kind and she was treated with dignity and respect. They also ensured we had everything we needed as well.
I just wish we had moved Mum sooner.
Thank you to everyone, you are all amazing and made Mums last few weeks so happy.
My husband who has mixed dementia has just been in Netherwood Care Home for a week's respite. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff who are all so caring and understanding it's not easy to leave your loved one in someone else's care, but I had no doubt about leaving my husband at Netherwood from the way I was greeted on arrival. I left feeling that my husband will be looked after. The whole team are amazing Thank you all so much for looking after him.
