This is a good care home with lovely staff. However, the night staff let the home down. Cleaning not done at night and my mum's clothes are constantly misplaced at night even though I do all my laundry myself. Cleanliness is not what it used to be, the carpets are not cleaned as they used to be with
incontinent residents! The day staff are kind and treat residents as individuals! The manager and deputy manager are first class but it's a shame that their hands are tied by the owner and they are only allowed to have new furniture in half of the home when it badly needs replacing. The food is all home cooked and is fabulous - good quality and varied menu. Homely feel and nice gardens.

My Nan recently stayed at Netherwood for respite. The home was clean, safe and overall at a high standard. She was welcomed by the staff and treated with dignity and respect, all the staff had a kind nature and was caring to both my Nan and family members. The food that was presented was 5 star and
the activities on offer were fantastic giving her the choice to stay in or go for a coffee at the local cafe. Afternoon entertainment came to do music or exercises with the residents to ensure that they stayed mobile as well as the daily activities. The management team were also kind and supportive and the director was always on hand if needed, he appears to be currently making changes to the building and the interior which is progressing quickly. She can't wait for her next stay. Thank you all, I would definitely recommend this home.

The care home always looks and smells clean and tidy, the staff are very friendly and helpful.
The reception area has photographs of the residents and they are all smiling.
The outdoor area is ideal for the residents with seating areas and patios.

The place has the feel, smell (and look!) of a larger than average family house, occupied by many family members. There are a number of linked commutative rooms, including several TV lounges, which can accommodate about 20 people each, so they're largish but not massive, creating a comfortable atmosphere
rather than a cold institutional one. They are very clean and there is no pervasive urine odour. The heating system works! The individual bedroom is spotlessly clean.
The staff are friendly and attentive, I have never heard a voice raised in anger. The gardens are well stocked and maintained and provide an outside space to sit in or walk around and enjoy when the weather allows.

My grandmother has recently moved to Netherwood. The staff have made the transition from her own home very comfortable and I couldn't be happier with the way the move has gone. Nothing is too much for the care staff and they have gone above and beyond for my grandmother. The room she is in is wonderful
and the en suite facilities are very useful during the night. The staff seem caring and thoughtful and treat my nan with the utmost respect. The food which I have tried, is excellent. The home is in a lovely setting, very quiet and secluded, within lovely mature grounds unlike the few newer homes we visited when choosing a home for her. I couldn't be happier with choosing Netherwood and I can see that my nan is very happy here too.

My dad has been here for a year and has been well looked after. The food here is excellent. My mother and I have always been made to feel very welcome. The staff are very friendly and supportive. Dads room is satisfactory although there is a bad smell at times (maybe drains?) It would be very helpful
if something could be done about the entrance on the road, which is very dangerous to exit in a car. I feel there is a bad accident waiting to happen!

Mum has been in Netherwood for just over 3 months and during this time has been made extremely comfortable, treated like a queen. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much, always a welcome for all visitors. It is so comforting to know mum is safe and being cared for so well. I cannot thank everyone
enough.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.563)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.563) out of 10 for Netherwood Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.600 for Netherwood Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (40 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.6
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.963 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Netherwood Residential Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.463
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
