As visitors we are always treated with respect and offered a drink (tea, coffee etc) then left along during our visit unless we need to speak with a member of staff.
Brookside is such a wonderful, welcoming place, filled with enthusiasm, joy, smiles and happiness.
The staff are totally amazing, from the management, care staff, nurses, support workers, catering staff, house keeping and the caretaker. Everyone is extremely helpful, smiling and willing to go that extra mile!
A wide range of different activities are introduced weekly with photos posted daily on social media of the residents enjoying taking part and being included in their community adventures.
The staff team know their residents well and there is a feeling of familiarity, friendship and family throughout the home.
I highly recommend Brookside if you are seeking a 'home from home' for your loved one. Visit and enjoy!
It has been a very stressful time recently for the family with Mom who in December was in hospital and very poorly, coupled with the worry on finding a suitable care home for Mom. I have to say with out doubt Mom has changed significantly. She is happy, she is sleeping well, she looks forward to her meals, she loves the company in both the upstairs and downstairs lounges. The staff I commend for there support they provide but also there genuine caring nature. Nothing is to much trouble and everything they do are for the benefit of all residents they care for. It is such a relief to know not only is Mom safe but she is very happy. The room Mom occupies is lovely with all her personal belongings with her and on show for her to enjoy. As a family we are relieved and very happy that we have found a caring and friendly care home in Brookside. Thank you to all the staff.
Grans room is clean and cosy and has a nice view. Gran has always been very independent and likes to make things homely and people feel welcome, and has taken personal belongings/furniture to help it feel more like home. Gran misses not being able to light candles and hammer nails into the wall herself! but understands the safety reasons behind this.
The food is good and visitors are always offered food/drinks too!
There are nice activities and community lounges and a small garden area for warm days.
The only negative is the laundry which has been discussed with the home and they are in the process of sorting this.
My mum moved to the Care Home on 9/12/25. She was a poorly lady and unable to do anything herself, also very depressed. I called the Manager, and was informed they have one room available. I went to view with two of my sisters and we were over the moon. Everything was explained to us and we were shown round. The care staff were very friendly and this gave us immense confidence, that this would be most suitable to our mum. Since mum has been in the Care Home she has come on leaps and bounds and always says how happy she is, she says the staff are all very kind and polite to her, and always help her. This has given her tremendous confidence in herself and always have a smile on her face. She loves the activities and the shows which are put on. I am so happy for her, she now eats well, sleeps well. and cared for by the most wonderful staff. I would like to thank the owner and all staff. You are doing a fantastic job.
My father was cared for in Brookside for the last 3 months of his life. From Manager, to carers, cleaners, maintenance staff, all were excellent. The size of the home gives a chance for more personal care, and this was delivered. Could not have been better.
We chose Brookside because of the range of activities that were available and the interaction Dad would hopefully get. Unfortunately as he grew frailer he wouldn't leave his bed but that didn't mean he had any less contact and there were people in and out of the room constantly to see how he was, check on him and have a chat and a laugh with him.
Whenever I visited every week I was always warmly welcomed and in-between I was kept up to date with any concerns or problems. The quality of the care and the professionalism showed throughout Dad's stay was high and I always felt that Dad was in good hands.
From the minute I walked into Brookside, when looking for somewhere for mum to live, I knew this was 'the care'. The manager was so welcoming and very knowledgeable re. mums condition and what she'd need. Mum arrived just over a year ago and her condition/ability has improved so much dur to kind, caring nurturing and patience from all staff. I'm always made welcome, great communication too - excellent!
Her physical health, mental health, and with the loving care shown by all members of the staff her quality of life has greatly improved.
It's wonderful that the family can rest assured in the knowledge of her having the best of care possible.
I can only say that I was impressed by the love and support my wife received at Brookside. I felt that she received the best care and support and found the management and staff excellent in the provision of love for my wife. She passed Brookside management gave provide me with excellent support and consideration. I thoroughly enjoyed my daily visits to the home.
My Aunt has been in Brookside for a number of years and I can not praise them enough. They always kept me well informed and she was always happy, comfortable and well looked after. Sadly she passed away yesterday after a spell in hospital. The home still accepted her back even though she was on a end of life pathway. They arranged for a district nurse to attend to give her the medication which comes with a pathway. I always had peace of mind as not living is Stafford I could not visit often but was completely happy and felt confident that she was being well looked after. When I phoned to ask after her it was never a problem they gave me all the time I needed to know my Aunt was in the best place. When she was in hospital the home were phoning me to see how she was. She loved the fact that some one came in to cut and blow dry her hair and do her nails. I feel very lucky to have found Brookside especially when hearing all the horror stories regarding other residential homes
You know your relative is safe, happy and that all their needs are met. The food is always good and varied. The management team run the home really well. The facilities are good and the home has wonderful views over Doxey marshes. There is outside space to sit in the summer with beautiful hanging baskets and raised beds for the residents to grow vegetables. It feels very much like a family home, so many relatives visit regularly and are made as welcome as the residents.
He is always grateful for the care he receives 24/7 and it puts our mind at rest to know that he is in a safe place.
The management and all the staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble, they always make time for a chat when we visit and we are kept advised of his wellbeing either when visiting or by phone if it it is urgent.
There is always some kind of activity on in the lounges that the residents are free to attend and they celebrate all the main festivities during the year.
We would recommend Brookside in a heartbeat to anyone that are looking for a care home for there loved ones.
From the owner, manager and staff, all have gone out of their way to make our friend feel at home. The atmosphere and facilities are excellent. They treat all of the residents and visitors with respect and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Cannot recommend highly enough.
As a regular visitor to Brookside I always find the facilities and staff to be of the highest order, good food and both physical and mental stimulation ensure that the residents are cared for very, very well.
Having made what was a very difficult decision we were guided and supported as a whole family when Mum moved in. Sadly Mum only spent a few months at Brookside before her passing but she was very happy whilst in their care. She loved her bright and spacious room with her own modern bathroom, she enjoyed the various activities that took place, and she kept her usual hairdresser who came into the home and used the salon at Brookside. She particularly liked the food and could choose to eat in her room if she wished or in the dining area. We cannot praise the staff and management highly enough, they definitely go the extra mile. Communication was exceptional, and we regularly received calls to see how we were all coping as a family with the transition. I feel that Brookside is a very welcoming and friendly home, we could call or visit whenever we wanted to. The staff are always approachable and extremely helpful and we are very grateful for the first-class care that they provided.
Dad was a resident with complex care needs for three and a half years and throughout this time I always felt staff were very caring, looked after him with dignity and kept him safe. Dad always told me he was in a posh hotel which is a testament to how he felt about the care he received and how the care home is managed. I extend my grateful thanks to all the Brookside staff for looking after Dad.
Thanks to the high level of support and dedication from the entire care team. I would highly recommend Brookside Care Home to anyone who is looking for a safe, clean and comfortable environment for a loved one.
The staff are very nice and friendly towards myself and my father. When my dad first moved in staff were extremely helpful with my father's settling-in process. Truly am happy with the hospitality given by the staff.
Loving the new home extension, giving the residents a view over Doxey Marshes. The staff here have always been so friendly and my father-in-law has always felt right at home. The new rooms are so lovely, sending this care home into another category. I wouldn't want him to go anywhere else, first class.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
- Outstanding - The service is performing exceptionally well.
- Good - The service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
- Requires Improvement - The service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
- Inadequate - The service is performing badly and we've taken action against the person or organisation that runs it.
- Not rated - we have not yet rated this area of the service, this is normally because the assessments we have carried out have been focused on other key questions.
Brookside Care Home was inspected by CQC in December 2023. The report shows lots of good practice and remained good across three key areas: effective, caring and responsive. However, it is also clear that there is work to be done to address concerns relating to care planning and leadership. We are committed to addressing the concerns raised and have put together wide-ranging action plans. We are pleased to confirm that the following changes have taken place in recent months: New care planning system: We have implemented a new digital care planning system. New management: We are pleased to have welcomed a new manager to the team. Lydia brings more than 15 years of experience of working in care. Refurbishment works: We have recently done a lot of work to update Brookside. The result is more modern, comfortable surroundings with additional facilities.
