Broadmeadow care home has a warm, family feel, created by a dedicated team, many with over 15 years’ experience. Staff focus on enriching residents’ lives by tailoring activities and experiences to individual interests.

Following an impressive extension and refurbishment, the home offers bright, airy spaces including a large lounge, café and hair and beauty salon with weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser. A chiropodist also visits monthly.

The gardens underwent a £10,000 makeover after winning an internal Sanctuary Care competition. They now feature wheelchair-friendly paths, a water feature, summer house, pontoon lighting and raised planters where residents grow fruit and vegetables for use in the kitchen.

Dining is a highlight, with delicious home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. Activities include pampering sessions, baking, live music, trips to zoos, garden centres, pubs and the Salvation Army centre.

Broadmeadow embraces the local community with visits from volunteers, work experience students and school children, who often share performances. Staff children have even formed a choir that regularly entertains residents. Families can stay connected through a private Facebook page.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

Broadmeadow has achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community. The VFF is a collaboration between Royal Star & Garter, Royal British Legion and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

Due to a bad fall at home which affected our mum's mobility and after several weeks in hospital during Covid, the family decided that it was safer to have her cared for in a care home rather than return home. After a few weeks, she settled in and always refers to it as her home, which is very reassuring
to us all. The management and staff are very caring, friendly, very approachable and always manage to make her laugh and smile. They have a wonderful activities lady who encourages residents to take part. All the food is freshly cooked in their kitchen. Mum's gone back to a healthy weight now.

This care home fully lives up to its description. It is a real home to its residents and the care is superb. The staff, from the management to maintenance all, almost without exception, put the needs of the residents first and foremost. The catering is outstanding and tailored to specific requirements
if necessary. We visit regularly and the atmosphere is nearly always cheerful with activities frequently taking place. I'll be more than happy to move in there if and when the need arises.

Fantastic care is taken of my nana by all the staff at the care home. They have always been so friendly and welcoming. The food seemed amazing and there was always an activity being planned to participate in or an individual session like a pamper day. It feels like the staff treat the residents like
they are part of their family and was a great comfort when we couldn't visit during Covid. I was really pleased with our choice of care home and thankful for the support given to my family when it was needed. I can't praise the staff enough.

This is the best care home you could wish any family member or friend to go to. The staff always go out of their way to not only make your loved one feel welcomed and settled, but keep you involved every step of the way, with weekly updates. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff. They have
a weekly list of activities the residents will be getting up to, which always looks brilliant and always something new for everyone to look forward to. Just to know that your loved one is being looked after properly, with the warmest of staff, who go the extra mile, is so reassuring. It’s always clean and tidy with alternate decorations Easter, Christmas etc.

My mum came into Broadmeadow for respite care in 2016 and thankfully stayed until her passing in January 2022. The care administered by the staff was remarkable. They became her extended family. I live over 60 miles away, but was happy to leave Mum in the friendly environment she had become used to
and no care homes near to me, compared with Broadmeadow. My mum always received exceptional care, but at the end of her life the staff showed great respect and dignity and they were always all kind and helpful. It was hard not being able to see Mum during lockdown, but I always knew she was getting the continued care and attention she needed.

It is now just over 12months that my aunt has been a resident in the care home. It goes without saying that the environment is safe and welcoming, as a care home should be. This care home offers much more than this. The staff are wonderful, they engage with the residents in such a way that it makes
my aunt feel loved and cared for. The staff make you feel as though it is not just a job, but a real commitment to the residents. Carers, whilst at work treat the residents like their own family. It has been a difficult 12 months, but the management went above and beyond to ensure that we were kept up to date with information and allowed to visit when we could. You hear lots of negativity about care homes, 'no matter how much it costs they are all the same'. No, they are not all the same, we have had experiences with other friends and close family in other care homes and this care home is brilliant. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this home. Thank you to the management team and the wonderful carers.

Disappointed we can not take the resident out for the day into a safe environment for the sanity and self-confidence and health, each resident should be assessed on their merit and the risk the rest of the county can do this but Sanctuary Care are keeping their residents inside.

The care home has made changes to accommodate visiting during Covid and this has given our mum a boost in her well-being and she is now looking forward to having the rest of the family visiting towards the middle to end of the year. The outside conservatory is a safe area for visits. Many thanks.

The lounge, bedroom and bathroom facilities are entirely suitable - clean, comfortable and just right for the residents. I've witnessed the staff taking over distributing all of my mother's medication needs and engaging with her GP. The staff have provided a safe and caring environment while maintaining
a level of personal engagement and banter with my mother, such that it doesn't feel at all stuffy. The meals have been first-rate and simple things like tea and biscuit rounds, have kept my mother engaged with people. The staff I've met, have all been kindly, engaging, chatty, constructive, supportive and interested. They engage with my mother in a respectful, yet chatty manner - I couldn't be more delighted. Summary: My mother has already informed me that she thinks the staff are "wonderful" and the care has been "excellent", she is looking forward to this next stage of her life.

My mother who has Alzheimer's and her partner moved into Broadmeadow Court in March 2019. My husband, daughter, and I had visited several care homes and were unanimous in our choice. We took Mum to view it and showed her partner photographs. It was a difficult decision to put them both in care but at
91 and 88 years I could no longer care for them at home. Sadly Mum's partner died within a month but he died knowing she was well looked after. On the day of his funeral mum had a stroke and we thought she would have to move but luckily she was able to stay. The staff was wonderful from the beginning and at the end of visits when Mum and I were upset, a carer would go and sit with Mum and another would come and talk to me. We cannot thank the staff enough for everything they have done and for their care, especially during the pandemic.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.658) out of 10 for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.858 for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (122 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.858
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
