Broadmeadow care home has a warm, family feel, created by a dedicated team, many with over 15 years’ experience. Staff focus on enriching residents’ lives by tailoring activities and experiences to individual interests.

Following an impressive extension and refurbishment, the home offers bright, airy spaces including a large lounge, café and hair and beauty salon with weekly visits from a mobile hairdresser. A chiropodist also visits monthly.

The gardens underwent a £10,000 makeover after winning an internal Sanctuary Care competition. They now feature wheelchair-friendly paths, a water feature, summer house, pontoon lighting and raised planters where residents grow fruit and vegetables for use in the kitchen.

Dining is a highlight, with delicious home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea. Activities include pampering sessions, baking, live music, trips to zoos, garden centres, pubs and the Salvation Army centre.

Broadmeadow embraces the local community with visits from volunteers, work experience students and school children, who often share performances. Staff children have even formed a choir that regularly entertains residents. Families can stay connected through a private Facebook page.

Proud to be veteran-friendly

Broadmeadow has achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status, supporting the practical, emotional and social needs of the armed forces community. The VFF is a collaboration between Royal Star & Garter, Royal British Legion and NHS Veterans’ Covenant Healthcare Alliance (VCHA).

I have always found the staff at Broadmeadow a very happy group, a very caring team.
On my visits we, the residents and visitors have been entertained occasionally by a singer enjoying a good sing-a-long. The activities also seem to go down well. Special calendar dates are often celebrated and their
Xmas is a joy to behold. A very hardworking and caring staff.

Mum has been a resident at Broadmeadow since the beginning of May. It is a warm, bright and very friendly place. Having just 32 residents at most (4 or 5 rooms are left for respite) enables residents to be well cared for and given much personal attention with dignity, love and humour. All staff are
happy, friendly and approachable, whether it be the office staff, carers, cleaners or maintenance man. Residents, their rooms and all public areas are kept clean. Rooms are spacious with ensuite (toilet and sink) and also have a fridge, cupboard and worktop. Large bay windows let in lots of light and mum is able to have lots of family photos on the large integrated window shelf. Regular activities, games, entertainment and trips out are organised. Family are made most welcome and kept well informed. The meals are excellent and as a result, mum has gained some much-needed weight. It has been a pleasure to be involved with the home, and a weight off my mind, knowing mum is settled. Top marks!

Broadmeadow is a friendly, welcoming and compassionate care home. All staff are very much resident focussed in all they do. There is always a varied activity programme and also a whole range of events which includes external performers which visit on a regular basis.
The food is of a high standard
and varied. There is an open door policy which makes Broadmeadow a very approachable care home.

Not an easy decision to put a loved one in care, but after looking at many homes we decided on Broadmeadow Court and so glad we did. Our mum has been a resident at Broadmeadow for the past 5 years, unfortunately, mum passed away in May 2019. I just wanted to say that the care she received was wonderful,
the staff, well we cannot fault them, she was safe, clean and well looked after, always a nice meal to be had. We cannot thank them enough, they treated mum with respect and helped us right up to mums passing. Thank you again to all the staff.

My dad has been in Broadmeadow Court for over 2 years. He can't stand or walk and has dementia. The kindness and care shown to my dad is more than words can say. It is a homely environment and staff treat everyone the same. It is a very demanding job and they all do it with respect and a smile. The
food is lovely and all homemade. When you leave a loved one in someone else's care it is a big decision. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my dad is in a well run, fun, safe place with lovely staff.
Reply from Fae Doherty, Marketing Officer at Broadmeadow Court Residential Care HomeDear Sue, thank you so much for your kind words. We understand how difficult the transition into care can be for both our residents and their loved ones so it is wonderful to hear that you have peace of mine leaving your dad in our care. Best wishes, Fae.

The care that I receive is very very good. If I have an occasional fault to complain about it, it can soon be settled.
Food and cleanliness standards are very good.

My mother has Alzheimer's and has lived at Broadmeadow since August 2016 and I and my family have been very pleased with the care she has received throughout the various stages of her illness. The family visits regularly and at different times and on different days and ruing that time we have seen
nothing that has worried us unduly. Any minor concerns we have had were reported and were dealt with quickly. We feel informed on her condition and feel welcomed by the staff.

My Mother is 96 years old. She has taken on a new lease of life since moving into Broadmeadow Court in September 2014. She regards her room as home. She enjoys the company of the other residents and the activities. She also relates well to the carers. The menus on offer are varied and plentiful.

My mother in law was a resident of Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home since 2015. Mum sadly passed away in the hospital on 2nd December 2018. I cannot praise the staff enough for the wonderful caring way in which mum was looked after. Mum had a lovely room, enjoyed taking part in all the activities
and loved the home cooked food. Mum was part of the Broadmeadow family from her first day there.

Overall satisfactory. Care staff are lovely, show patience and are very helpful. Management is the opposite. I found them to be rude, no patience and frankly don't care. I think this needs to be approached and rectified urgently.
We had a few problems regarding management and I have had to face this
head on. Food/options need to be addressed for residents with dietary requirements, as I find they go without or the kitchen has run out of food and the residents have left overs.
Not good enough.

Carers and staff are excellent. Organisation is good and the home is run to a high standard.
Accommodation is dated and could benefit from modernisation.
The bathroom is a priority for improvement as there is staining to the sink which is permanent.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.658)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.658) out of 10 for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.858 for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (122 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 141 Ratings = 4.858
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broadmeadow Court Residential Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
