My husband moved to Perton Manor from a psychiatric unit in 2023. He has Alzheimer's disease with challenging behaviour.
Since he has been at Perton Manor, the staff have always been very caring and his behaviour has been managed by alternative approaches such as walks outside. It has now been possible
to withdraw his previous medications.
The home is always kept clean. There are regular opportunities provided to give feedback on care within the home. It is of benefit, particularly with challenging behaviour, that the home is modern, purpose-built and on one level.
The training of staff in dementia care is very thorough and a large number of staff are always on duty. On visits to hospital for appointments or for admission, he has always been accompanied by a staff member.
The staff are always very approachable and welcoming; I have always felt at ease whilst my husband is at Perton Manor, knowing he will be well-looked after and I will be kept informed about his condition.

My aunt has besn a resident of Perton Manor for just over 2 years. Her condition was becoming challenging and the home she was a resident at were unable to cope with her needs. At her previous placement an external psychiatric nurse had prescribed medication which wiped her out. We found it difficult
to find a home that would take her due to her complex condition, but we found Perton Manor. Here she has been treated with respect, care and love. It's lovely to see glimpses of her personality, be it singing with her, laughing with her or simply holding her hand. Everyone is kind and considerate to both the resident and the family members. Also, staff are highly trained to deal with complex and challenging behaviours. Here at Perton Manor they've enabled her personality to continue.

Mom moved to Perton Manor in 2023 in an extremely poor psychological state and also being suicidal.
Our family cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care mom has received at this home since moving there 2 years ago. Her journey has been incredibly challenging but the transformation we've witnessed
since she joined this community is nothing short of remarkable.
The staff are truly incredible. Their knowledge of mom's complex needs, together with their genuine compassion and positive pathways has created an environment where she now feels safe, understood, and loved. What was once a state of deep despair has grown into so much more calm and happiness. They have not only met her medical and personal care requirements but are totally dedicated to her emotional well-being. The specialist support she receives for her complex needs is above and beyond, and for us as a family we know she is so loved and cared for, and we couldn't ask for anything more.

My husband has been in Perton since May 2021 and the care he has received has been excellent. I would not have coped without the support the staff have given me over this time, especially during these difficult times.
My husbands behaviour has been extremely challenging and the staff have dealt with
him with care and understanding of his needs.
They senior staff have always told me the truth and although this has been difficult to accept at times I have appreciated their honesty.

Dad has been in Perton Manor since late August, when he transferred from a different home, due to that home not being able to care for Dad.

In the 6 months that Dad has been at Perton, he has moved back towards a Dad that I can recognise. The therapeutic approach of Perton Manor has placed an emphasis

on understanding his condition, what he enjoys, and has tailored an approach to getting him active and engaged. He goes for walks several times a day (with a carer), and with restrictions, lifting went on a visit to a local nature reserve.

Dad has come off his anti-psychotics as a result of the interventions at Perton Manor, and he is no longer the aggressive, agitated, unsocial and unhappy man that he was at the previous care home. Dad laughs and dances with his carers, and has some quality of life again. We as his family are so happy with the change in Dad since he has been with Perton Manor. We have been supported by the Home in Dad's journey, and would highly recommend Perton Manor.

Our mother was a resident at Perton Manor from July 2015 until she passed away in October 2016 at the age of 91 from mixed dementia.

Perton Manor is an excellent care home and the staff are so highly trained in the care of dementia etc.

What we found was a most loving, caring environment. The

staff are simply brilliant at what they do, sometimes under extremely trying circumstances. There are lots of care staff, activity staff and two nurses on duty. The home is spotlessly clean, beds are changed daily.

The activities team were great, doing different daily activities from crafts, outdoor activities to pampering.

My sister and I were very happy with our mum's care. We knew she was very loved and this came across from all staff. We were able to come and go as we pleased and was always made very welcome.

We have nothing negative to say about Perton Manor Nursing Home and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a home for a loved one with dementia.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.521)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.521) out of 10 for Perton Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.971 for Perton Manor is calculated as follows: ( (33 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.971
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.55 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Perton Manor is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.3
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
