Once again I have to document the praise of this Care Home. Last week my husband had a fall in the lounge, they rang me straight away and advised an ambulance had also been called as they were certain he’d fractured his hip. I went straight over and couldn’t believe the care and concern from all the
staff especially as it was change over time and they were going off duty. He was seated on the floor surrounded by loads of cushions to immobilise him. The wonderful night staff then took over, they were really busy but still spent every available minute with us during the 8 hour wait for the top priority ambulance, providing food and drinks for us both and of course much needed support, even a staff member who’d gone off duty rang to see how things were progressing. Luckily the outcome was fine, no broken bones so he returned ‘home‘ 12 hours later, none the worse for his experience and ate the lunch that was waiting for him. How lucky are we both to have found this wonderful care.

My mother-in-law found it very difficult to adjust to being in a care home. Staff have been very understanding and have given all the encouragement possible, during these challenging times. staff have remained professional and curious at all times with residents and families. I am very satisfied with
the level of care received and am glad that some of the pressure has been lifted from myself and family.

Mum originally began visiting Hillswood Lodge 2 years ago as a day resident. She absolutely loved being there and always said if the time ever came that’s where she wanted to go to live. Mums Alzheimer’s deteriorated and in March this year she became a full time resident. She is very very happy there
and calls it her ‘forever home’. She has been cared for wonderfully and all the staff take time to help her and always are kind and considerate. I am kept up to date on any changes and I have no doubt whatsoever that Mum is absolutely in the right place and is exceptionally well cared for. I have no concerns whatsoever.

My Aunt has been in the care of Hillswood Lodge for the last 3 years. My Aunt was really struggling at home, and we made the hard decision to put her in permanent care. My Aunt has received the best care and is very happy there. She enjoys the home-cooked food and finds all the staff very approachable.
Even during lockdown, we were kept well informed, with regular phone calls, and also had the option of video calling.

Mum has been at Hillswood Lodge for two and a half years after her initial settling in period her health and well-being has improved. The staff have been excellent! especially over the lockdown taking care of mum and informing me of changes and updates. Mum is happy and really likes the staff.

My mother recently had three weeks respite care at Hillswood while we had a much needed break. It is not easy to move from your home and its familiar routines and go into a care home. Nor is choosing somewhere suitable for loved ones an easy task. However the manager and staff at Hillswood were very
welcoming from the beginning and I immediately felt Mum was in capable, safe and caring hands. Mum settled in quickly due to the staffs experienced and respectful approach.
Mum particularly enjoyed the home cooked meals. The room she stayed in was light and airy which was important to her as she enjoys being in a quiet environment and the staff respected her wish to do that. Its size gives it a more homely feel than some others I have visited. I would certainly recommend it.

It’s hugely emotional finding a residential home for a much-loved parent who is becoming increasingly frail and confused. From the first moment of our arrival, late evening from hospital, the night staff welcomed Mum with such gentleness, patience and sensitivity.
Hillswood has a warm, friendly, caring
ethos. Each resident is known and valued. Great efforts are made to provide activities to appeal to specific interests, to stimulate, nurture and promote emotional wellbeing.
Whilst on palliative care, Mum was treated with a sensitive, thoughtful kindness, extended to us too. All staff demonstrated a friendly respect that maintained Mum’s dignity. The professional knowledge and expertise of the staff, particularly management and senior staff, inspired confidence and a wonderful comfort at an extremely emotional time.
A successful residential home should promote a feeling of safety, both physical and emotional, for residents and their relatives.
Hillswood feels very safe.

I am satisfied with the care my Mum receives day and night. Staff are pleasant, friendly and good at their jobs. I've noticed that the carers are always doing paperwork and seems too much red tape instead of doing what they are there for, caring and spending time with the residents. My Mum seems to
be in good spirits when activities, hairdresser and trips out some days are on.
Can't fault this care home or how it is run, management very approachable and all staff friendly and professional.

Well - I have to say Hillswood is somewhere I want to go when I'm old. I can't recommend it highly enough. The staff are all truly amazing human beings. They treat each resident as if they were a member of their own family. The team are definitely an A-Team! as they support each other led by the manager.
The
activities are twice daily minimum, they have days out, on a regular basis is desired.
Unlike other residential homes, you can eat with your family member which makes visiting so much more flexible. Ten out of ten for me thanks.

My mum only spent a short period of time at Hillswood Lodge but in that time she was cared for as an individual with patience, kindness and respect.
The team at Hillswood were supportive and reassuring during a difficult and sad time. We knew that mum was safe and the care she received was of a very
high standard. Hillswood feels like home thanks to the devotion of the staff.

My mum has been a resident at Hillswood Lodge for nearly three years. The home is very close to where I live so it is very convenient. Hillswood is a small home residing in a big house - so it feels like home to the residents. There is always plenty going on (if you want to participate) with activities
morning and afternoon. Many entertainers come in to perform, they are all brilliant because the residents and staff continually find new people who suit the home. Staff and some residents have a lovely dance many afternoons. The residents are also taken out to the local church for coffee - all within walking distance, wheelchairs pushed or staff cars used. The staff are so willing, kind, engaging ang thoroughly professional. We all have a good time when I visit with my dog.

All the staff at Hillswood Lodge Care home are professional, respectful and caring. They have looked after my mum for the last 18 months and I feel very lucky that my mum is in the care of the manager and her team. They always put the resident first and do what is best for them. They genuinely care
about people and their feelings. The home is spotless and has a very cheerful atmosphere....a real home from home. It is a big responsibility to choose a care home for your parent or relative and all I can say is that we struck gold. I would not hesitate to refer people to Hillswood Lodge and have already done so on two occasions.

Hillswood Lodge is a caring home. They have been looking after my auntie with dementia for 16 months.
She is looked after really well and always appears well groomed.
She has put on weight since arriving at the home.
Apart from initial problems, when my aunties' tablets weren't right and she was
disruptive, she has settled really well and made lots of friends.

Excellent standard of care, clean and safe environment, lots of activities and set in a beautiful location. Hillswood Lodge is a well-run care home with caring, respectful and cheerful staff who will go out of their way to accommodate the needs of their residents and families. My aunt has flourished
since becoming a resident there. She particularly enjoys the home cooked food and regular entertainment that is provided. It is clear the care home manager knows her residents well, as she is very responsive to their needs and preferences. She will refer on to other healthcare professionals/services if needed. As a family member who lives a considerable distance from the home, this gives us the reassurance that my aunt is not only well cared for but is known by the manager and staff so well that any changes in her health are identified quickly. Thank you to the manageress and her team for doing such a great job.

I call in to my relative at least once per week and sometimes more often. The staff are always pleasant and listen to all concerns.
The home is always clean and tidy.
Some of the staff have been there for many years and it shows in their attitude.
The bedroom is bright and spacious with an outside
view and toilet.
I have no concerns at all and other relatives have visited and commented on how good the home is.
