Florence House

When I come in the staff are really nice and pleasant. They know all the residents by name, even when they are new. Feel comfortable when I visit my brother in law.

I have been unable to visit my friend for the past 12 months but have followed the Florence House social media page to see how he is doing. Its been a pleasure to note a really positive change of direction in the activities which are now far more person centred and everyone appears to engage and enjoy the wide variety of activities on offer. The positive change was reinforced when I recently went to visit my friend at Florence House and noted changes with staff and surroundings. The atmosphere was calm and it was a joy to see everyone settled with lots of smiles from residents and staff.

I spent a week in Florence House in Respite Care. Very pleased that my room (8) had ensuite bathroom-facilities. Due to my limited mobility staff kindly wheel chair moved me to and from the dining area I did not take part in any activities - hence no cross in that column * I made friends with a couple of long term residents which we all appreciated. Rather surprised by the number of dementia sufferers. Medication was dispensed securely & correctly Thanks!

Dad has been living at Florence House since 2023. His lifelong hobbies and interests are actively supported. He goes to a local choir, and a local drama and arts group once a week. The care staff give him person centred care, and because the team is mainly permanent, long term, staff, they have become his family. The care team know Dad as an individual and encourage his participation in the varied activities offered by the dedicated activity coordinator. The senior staff are approachable and professional and available at any time.

Since my mum arrived she seem very comfortable. She his eating well and seems to be well looked after. The food is really nice. The staff are always looking after my mum. Rooms are always very clean.

When you first moved the dining area to the sitting area and vice verse with the lounge there was plenty of room to move about and sit comfortable but now all the chairs seem so close together you feel as if when talking everybody knows your business, and also since putting the red & blue chair under T.V. in two circles there no room to move about, everyone to close together would it not be better to include a sitting area by windows in dining area so more room for visitors or residents to sit in comfort.

I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at Florence House Porthill. Since my mum moved in, the team has treated her with the utmost dignity, compassion and respect. The carers are patient, attentive and go above and beyond to ensure my mum is comfortable. The team keeps everyone thoroughly engaged with a variety of activities, and the catering is exceptional. From the moment you walk in, there is a warm, homely and welcoming atmosphere. It's outstanding.

My nan has been at Florence house since October 2025, she is happy and feels safe and secure in her new home, the staff are caring and compassionate and there are various activities going on and it is lovely to see my nan get involved.

My friend has been in Florence House for about 2 years. She is extremely well cared for 100%. All staff, from your managers, care staff, domestics and maintenance staff, provide a very good service. The activities officer provides a variety of activities, i.e., entertainment, baking, arts and crafts, exercise, swimming, and an outing to the local pub for lunch. There are regular carers meetings, which is good to meet other families. The daily good menus are always on display, and the activities for that week is also on display. I find this very useful. The staff are very friendly and supportive to visitors.

My dad initially went to Florence House for 2 weeks' respite care whilst I was away on holiday. When I collected him after my holiday, my dad asked if he could go back to Florence House, as he was made to feel so welcome and cared for brilliantly. So he's now a full-time resident and loves it here; every member of the team at Florence House are so friendly, caring and helpful. I'm so happy that my dad chose Florence House, and I am a very happy and content daughter knowing he's being cared for so brilliantly. Thank you.

I would like to express my thanks to all staff at Florence House. All the staff go above and beyond to ensure the safety of all residents. My dad has been with Florence House for 2 and a half years, and I am really happy with the level of care he receives. I am well informed of current situations that arise with his care and I am kept up to date with any medical changes. This home has a welcoming family atmosphere, under new management, who have managed to turn it into a lovely, safe and secure home, that I would recommend.

Highly recommend great staff and management. Very caring and approachable staff. Room bright clean and furnished to a good standard. Mother is very difficult to deal with patient and caring staff. Very satisfied.

My wife has been a resident in Florence house Newcastle Staffs ,for quite some time and I can't thank the staff and management enough for their kindness and consideration they have shown to my wife and myself ,during what is a major trauma to both our lives.
