I couldn't wish for a greater care home to be looking after my Mother, the care is excellent and the staff are kind, caring, and professional. Every care home should be as good as this one, in my opinion, the gold standard of caring.

My mum was a resident at Chiltern for a short period of time before she passed away, during that time she was very happy. It is a beautiful home, always kept spotlessly clean and all the rooms I have seen are lovely. All the staff are excellent, caring for the residents in a loving, friendly and dignified
manner. The homemade food always looked and smelled wonderful. I cannot praise all aspects of this lovely home enough! I just wish my mum had been there longer, so she could enjoy it more. All the staff are a great credit to their profession and brilliant management.

Mum has been a resident at this home for 5 years. Putting a loved one into a home is always a traumatic thing but my family and I have never looked back since my Mum joined this lovely home. She is well looked after and Staff are very attentive to her needs, particularly at spotting when she is presenting
unwell. Mum is happy, content and enjoys living at the home. The home have activities during the week and my Mum particularly likes when the organist comes and she can join in singing. The home is very clean and homely, the food is excellent and I wouldn't have her living anywhere else. Many thanks to all the Staff at Chiltern.

Mum has been at the home for 7 years although she has dementia she often tells me how much she loves the home and the carers, the carers are there because they love their job not because it is a job they are very understanding about the problem most of the residents have. The home is very clean and
the meals are all homemade although mum isn't a very good eater they can always accommodate and give mum something which she likes. They always have some activity on which helps them to use their brains plenty of books and an organist comes in and plays all the old songs that old people like. I think the home is a lovely place most people have their own rooms with en suite facilities a lot on the ground floor some upstairs which there is a lift or you can use the stairs

My nan resided here for a while, it was clean and tidy. The staff were courteous and welcoming. Having seen numerous homes over the past few years, we found Chiltern to be the most reassuring home for my nan.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.411)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.411) out of 10 for Chiltern Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.711 for Chiltern Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.711
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Chiltern Rest Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
