Sycamores is situated in Sydenham on the edge of Leamington Spa, benefiting from being near a small parade of shops, including a post office and fish and chip shop, as well as a bus route.

The home offers long-term and respite care for older people. Designed as three households, each household has a living area with a lounge, dining area and kitchenette, where people can make their own snacks and drinks, and staff will always be on hand to prepare hot refreshments if requested.

Residents are encouraged to pursue their interests and the team plans regular trips out in the local community. Residents also benefit from an onsite hair and beauty salon and there are plenty of spaces to socialise and spend time with friends and family.

From the first day Dad entered Sycamores Nursing Home, I noticed a drastic change in him. He now had company, people popping their heads into his room. He loves the activities laid on and trips. The staff are always smiling, happy and caring. He's able to have time out in his own room if needed. But,
whatever he requires, the staff do their very best to accommodate. It's the best move I ever made, he is happy and that is the main thing.

My mother (Mum) has now been at Sycamores in Leamington a little over two months. Each time I come away I'm struck by how settled and well she appears. I know this has a great deal to do with the level of care she is getting from the staff, all of whom come over as forthcoming and committed to the overall
welfare of their residents. I'd also like to add that the venue also looks as well as do the people living there. A big thank you to the manger and his excellent team. I'm already looking forward to our next visit knowing that she's in great hands. Thank you all!

Mum had a month of respite. The home is clean and airy. What makes it different is the staff. So friendly and willing to help out, makes for a much easier stay than I expected. These folks are great, going above and beyond to assist. Thanks, gang!

We would like to thank all staff at The Sycamores for all the care and support that they gave our dad over his time in the home. Even as visitors, we were made to feel very welcome and well looked after. We were able to visit with our dog, Molly, which made our dad's and some of the other residents,
day. Thank you for all your love and care.

Thank you all for your care in looking after Mum. We will miss you all. Hopefully, Mum will settle into her new home. She couldn't have done this without your care and attention - all staff are outstanding. She has had her good and bad days but overall, not too bad. We are all very grateful to everyone
at Sycamores. Love you all.

Caring and empathetic staff. Checking on residents and trying to engage them in activities. Sorted out meals for the fussy eaters and always a never-ending supply of hot cups of tea. Help with personal hygiene is not too much trouble.

We were so worried about our stepdad going into care after living in a house, but after careful thought and several falls and confusion some days, we made the decision. He is well looked after by the lovely, caring and welcoming staff and nothing is too much trouble, the meals look lovely... (albeit
could be warmer or given a minute to make hotter in the microwave) - but understandable with many people to serve, cakes and biscuits are always offered to residents and also visitors. They have weekly bingo and lunch club, play dominoes and weekly musicians go for a good sing-song. Although we were worried prior, the staff made the resident welcome and well looked after during the transition of another chapter in life, but they make us welcome also and keeps us well informed of everything. Lovely place, with staff, meals and a fair amount of activities.

Our mum moved to Sycamores recently and seems to have settled relatively easily. She is enjoying the outings and activities and is kept very busy! The staff are all so supportive and attentive, and all our questions and requests are addressed promptly. Whoever we have spoken to is always happy to help.
The care she is receiving is something we were struggling with whilst she was at home, and it has been overwhelming to know that she is safe and being cared for by such a lovely team.

From day one my dad was made to feel welcome. He settled in really well and soon became part of the "Sycamore family". The staff were helpful and friendly and we had no worries when visiting Dad, with no concerns when leaving him as we knew he was being very well looked after. Nothing seemed too much
trouble, even baking a cake for his birthday. Dad thoroughly enjoyed singing in the lounge, encouraging other residents to join him in a "sing-song". The home is clean, bright and airy. Even during Dad's last days, the care was still the same as it was when he arrived. A massive thanks to all at The Sycamores.

My mum recently passed away whilst a resident at Sycamores. She had been here two years. I can not praise the staff and management enough; they have been wonderful. Mum was happy and settled during her time there, despite her dementia. The staff were very loving and caring not just to Mum but to all
of the family - they never minded how often we rang to speak to her. They are all amazing.

Very happy with the care given to my nan. She seems very settled. My nan feels included in the activities, although doesn't always participate. Managers and staff keep in regular contact with family members. My nan was recently in hospital, and Sycamores kept us fully informed of any further developments.

My husband has been in Sycamores for over two years now, and it seems like yesterday. He is happy, and I am also happy to see him every time I visit him in the care home. All the staff are very lovely and friendly; and I am also happy with the management. There is always plenty to eat and drink during
all my visits, and I have liberty to take him out of home to spend quality time with him any time I want. The staff look after all his belongings, and I cannot ask for a better place for my husband.

Mom moved into Sycamores after a fall at home. It has taken a while for Mom to settle and I have spent a lot of time in Sycamores to help her with this. I have witnessed the staff to be caring and kind. I do feel the residents could have more time spent with them and although there is an activities
programme in place it’s not adhered to. I assume due to staff shortages! I’m sure staff on duty could come up with something to put some more smiles on faces though.
Sycamores is clean, the food is plentiful and cakes and ice lollies go down really well.
Relatives are always well received when visiting and we feel comfortable in Mom's home.
Any work that needs doing in Mom's room is always done promptly.
It has obviously been a major change in Mom's life and she has coped so very well and the staff have helped her to do so, from care staff to cleaners and maintenance staff.

Grandad came in for respite, and what a fantastic home.
The staff were all amazing, with friendly faces, smiles, always asking how you are, asking if you need anything and generally a superb team.
Facilities were all brilliant, clean and spaces well respected.
Food looked great, had decent portion
sizes and went down well!
Daily events allowed my grandad to get involved with the team and other residents. He was dancing, playing dominoes and singing along to the music.
His room was perfect. Just what he needed. Accessible bathroom, furniture and reclining bed.
I managed to visit my grandad and spend quality time with him, which I wasn’t getting before. I managed to go from helping care for him to being his granddaughter again.
Can’t thank the team for such a pleasurable experience.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.714)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.714) out of 10 for Sycamores is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.714 for Sycamores is calculated as follows: ( (199 Excellents x 5) + (70 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 273 Ratings = 4.714
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sycamores is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 23 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2019

I’ve been at WCS Care since 2019 and have worked in residential care for over 12 years.

Leaving the banking industry as a manager, I started my career in health and social care with a passion to deliver high-quality care and develop in the sector. Over time, I’ve worked my way up from domiciliary and frontline healthcare to senior care, care team management and most recently becoming the Home Manager at Sycamores.

A good day for me is when I’ve made a difference to the people who live with us. If I’ve made someone’s day, be it through a friendly chat, arranging a special event for them that they loved or the care we provide, I know I’ve done my job.

I’m also passionate about supporting my team to progress and shine in their roles, continually developing, learning new skills and thinking outside the box.

Outside of work, you’ll find me up to lots of other things such as playing music, reading, travelling or writing!
