My husband is very well looked after, mentally as well as physically. Although he has dementia and doesn't communicate well he always smiles when one of his carers enters his room. Heather Vale are very good at entertaining residents in spite of Covid restrictions. Any problems we have are quickly resolved after speaking to the manager or team leaders.

The staff are really friendly and polite, also very patient, helpful, understanding and often with quite a dry sense of humour, which under the current circumstances is greatly appreciated, The care provided seems brilliant - and Mum can be difficult. There are no complaints with the food either, and she has always been notoriously difficult to please! It's always very clean and organised; I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

My father came to Heather Vale a couple of years ago. I wasn't sure he could ever settle having tried another care home where he became very agitated. He did settle and within a very short time thought he had been there for years. He has been very well cared for so that a great weight has been taken from my shoulders. I have been so grateful over this last year for all the sacrifices the care staff have made in order to keep all of the residents safe. They have all been amazing. Dad's medical needs, as well as emotional needs, have been carefully met and I have always felt welcome when I have visited. I have also grown very fond of the other residents. I have missed them over the last year.

Overall Experience
The staff at the home have been excellent since grandad moved in during December 2020.
Due to the pandemic, we were able to visit the home before or during grandad's induction which made the transition challenging for grandad and his family. However, the home was fantastic keeping us updated on how grandad was settling in and giving us ways to keep in touch with him throughout.
Now we are able to do in-home visits you can physically see how much improvement there has been in grandad's mental and physical health. He's happy, content and clearly well looked after.
The team demonstrate a genuine interest in grandad's wants and needs and have made a concerted effort to get to know him, his likes and dislikes which has built trust between everyone.

Thank you for taking such good care of him.

It took mum a long time to settle, but from the start of her stay, the staff have kept me up to date with her progress. Just a few little communication glitches in the first two weeks. The first few weeks were so difficult but I was constantly reassured by professional, caring staff. They gave her a fabulous birthday and although I was only able to 'window visit' she seemed happier than she has been for months. I have realised that it is not just the resident who needs care and support but we relatives too - and this is acknowledged. Thank you!

I am sorry that I am unable to make clear judgements on the sections below, as at the moment I have never been inside due to Covid restrictions.

Because I was ill had to arrange a care home at short notice. Because he has to isolate, we couldn't visit, but he seemed to be happy there. He has dementia and incontinence problems, but they looked after him very well. Would not hesitate to let him go there again. Thanks to the great staff.

This was the first time I had accepted allowing my husband to go into care for respite. He loved his room, settled in straight away and thought he was in a holiday hotel. Everyone made us feel welcome and at home. I had peace of mind, and he had excellent care and enjoyed his stay. Would highly recommend.

My mum has been at the home for about 20 months now, the care she has received in that time has been fantastic. Her room is always clean and tidy and the staff always willing to care for, support and entertain the residents.

Any organisation is only as good as its staff and they are tremendous. They have risen to the challenges presented by the virus and found ways of relative sand loved ones contacting with the residents.

Since my Mum has lived at Heather Vale Care Home, she has been looked after with no issues. This was a particularly tender time for my mum as she has always had a fear of moving into a care home, but the staff at Heather Vale made her move in as comfortably as possible and have looked after her with special care since she joined them. The Covid restrictions have obviously made contact harder than it would normally be but Heather Vale has made every effort to let residents see or talk to their family as much as possible. This is via visits either side of glass and more recently, garden visits at a social distance and they have backed this up with Facebook messager video calls and phone calls. My mum is very happy at Heather Vale and has told me she is happy that she made the move, so that speaks for itself.

My aunt always had Heather Vale in mind for when she needed to leave her own home and is delighted to have a place. The home is secure with staff constantly having to stop what they are doing and open the main door but always do it with a smile.

I received the form Review Us at a difficult time when I am unable to visit Mum as usual due to COVID-19. The home has done very well to keep the home free of the virus but it is hard to gauge the atmosphere of the home or meet the new manager. Mum talks often of acts of kindness and helpfulness by staff but she is experiencing lots of new and temporary faces who do not know her and this is a cause of anxiety for her. The problem with the time it takes to respond to the buzzer continues intermittently and this causes distress. I have expressed concerns about the activities to the team leader several times. Residents are given an interesting timetable and my Mum selects which of these she would like to go to. However, when she asks if they are taking place, often they are not. The room is well-appointed and my interaction with staff has always been positive. I do miss the relative meetings where concerns can be aired and also to assess whether these issues are experienced by others.

I do not have the words to express my depth of gratitude to all the staff at Heather Vale. Mum was in Heather Vale for 5 years before she recently passed away aged 94. The care was of a high order. All staff are warm, friendly, courteous and efficient. We could not have asked for more. Over those years and indeed end of life they helped Mum maintain her dignity and catered to all her physical, emotional and social needs. They looked after us as a family too especially my sister who suffered early onset dementia. As a constant visitor, they were aware and went out of their way.
I am not concerned regards what any CQC report states. I can only advise on our own experience. We are so so grateful. I will not mention any individuals as all the staff, cleaners, handyman, Team Leaders were just so brilliant and caring.

Thank You Heather Vale. Mum would wish us to thank you from the bottom of her heart for all you have done. God Bless you all.

Without a doubt, Heather Vale care home is outstanding. From the warmth of the welcome you receive when you arrive to visit your loved one, the excellent care, kindness, interest and compassion extended to residents and their families, the fun and variety of activities for all to enjoy, the cleanliness of the home and the absence of unpleasant smells, the varied and delicious food, the excellent accommodation with its light airy bedrooms, large enough for residents to rest and relax in private or entertain their visitors, its intimate dining rooms and lovely communal lounge, the beautifully maintained and accessible garden, to useful services like hairdressing and chiropody.

My father moved to Heather Vale in December 2017 and I visit him there several times a week. I know he’s safe and well cared for and we can spend quality father/daughter time together which is so important at this stage in his life. Thank you to all the staff for making this possible.

I have found most staff friendly and helpful in this 6 months of coming into the home. More, it always smells clean and tidy. They have some amazing entertainment now which I do take part in, end food is exceptional. Nutritional and choice is good. You can have a cup of tea when you want one. If I had one thing to say that isn't positive is getting in/out of the building but I do take it that staff are busy.
