Holbrook Hall is a highly regarded care home in Holbrook, Belper. It is a splendid William and Mary period country house set in 4 acres of beautiful, well-stocked gardens.

In 1985 it was converted to a residential care home for the elderly containing 35 fine individual bedrooms, the majority with en-suite facilities/wet rooms and superb views across the adjacent gardens and beautiful countryside.

Holbrook Hall has had the pleasure to care for many people, from short-term respite care and daytime care to full-time residents.

Keeping their residents happy is of prime concern and as their Facebook page will vouch; they are forever thinking of different ways to entertain their guests.

I was a regular visitor to Holbrook Hall whilst my friend was being cared for. I cannot speak highly enough of all levels of staff. The care and attention given to all the residents and the activities laid on are second to none.
I will have no hesitation in moving my mum into Holbrook Hall when the
time is right, it really is home from home. The management team is excellent and I feel this shows in all areas. Throughout Covid the staff only ever put the residents first, keeping the residents safe was upmost priority.
Holbrook Hall is a family-run home and this shines through in all aspects of care.
The home is friendly, welcoming and clean with fabulous grounds and superb rooms.

Holbrook Hall is excellent! Staff are always happy and extremely helpful. My friend settled into the routine and absolutely loves the great food provided. Its gardens are very well cared for and residents and visitors, like myself, love being sat outside. Management are always hands-on in the home and

I came to visit my friend in Holbrook Hall. Whilst I was there I did a quiz for them, which they all enjoyed. I found the staff very friendly and welcoming, with a cup of coffee and biscuits, the atmosphere was very calming.

I have written before about how fantastic I think Holbrook Hall is but I want to add now how impressed I am by the way the team is handling the current situation we are experiencing in the UK.
As well as closing the home to non-essential visitors very early, the manager has communicated with us really
well and outlined all the protocols in place to keep the residents safe and well. On phone calls with my aunt she tells me how wonderful the team are and how well looked-after she feels.
Auntie often chooses not to take part in the many activities on offer but she was gently persuaded to join in with the VE Day afternoon tea in the garden recently and she obviously had a great time because she can't stop talking about it! Well done to all there for involving her - when I looked at the pictures and video and saw her smiling and laughing it made me cry very happy tears!
I have visited a lot of care homes in my time and can honestly say that Holbrook Hall is the absolute best.

My wife's aunt has lived at Holbrook Hall for nearly a year now and she loves absolutely loves it. The owner, manager and the whole team are so warm, friendly and caring and she really couldn't be in better hands. The home is lovely and welcoming, the shared areas are delightful, the bedrooms are super
and the gardens are stunning. There are a wide range of activities on offer to promote social engagement and well-being and the residents and team members are such a delight to chat to. The food looks delicious and auntie always tells us she thoroughly enjoys her meals and snacks.
We have been most impressed with the way the home has managed the current situation with the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK. They stopped all non-essential visits in plenty of time (very sensibly before the 'official' lockdown) and there has been excellent communication throughout including arranging video calls for residents and their families. Thank you to all at Holbrook, we think you are truly wonderful.

After living on her own in Kent for most of her adult life, my 83-year-old sister moved to Holbrook Hall to be near her family in Derbyshire. She settled in straight away and loves living there. On my visits to her, I am always impressed by the friendly atmosphere in the home and the attentive staff.
I would unhesitatingly recommend Holbrook Hall as a first-rate residential care home in a wonderful setting in the Derbyshire countryside close to Belper.

My mother has been a resident for almost 2 years and the care she has received has been exceptional. I want to highlight in particular the care that has been given over the last few weeks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Holbrook Hall closed the home to outside visitors early and this has undoubtedly meant
that the residents have been kept safe. As well as the safety aspect of Covid-19 the staff are also extremely attentive to the mental well being of the residents by the staff arranging craft sessions and entertainment. In particular they had a lovely celebration for VE Day which I know my mother enjoyed immensely. They have also made provision for video calls which have been great for the residents and families alike. I would strongly recommend Holbrook Hall to anyone looking for a care home in Derbyshire.

Jaspal Swalli

Job Title: Registered Provider & Medical Director Joined: 2022

Dr Jaspal Swalli is the Registered Provider and Medical Director for Fairway Homes (Derby) Ltd. He is a Registered Medical Doctor with the General Medical Council and a Consultant Psychiatrist. He has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2012.


He comes with values of integrity, care, compassion and ethics. He is a specialist in acute and urgent care pathways within adult mental health services and has expertise in the management of mentally disordered offenders, substance misuse, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and dementia. At the heart of Dr Swalli ‘s work is to provide psychoeducation to service users, carers and families to tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health issues. He is an expert in applying Mental Health and Mental Capacity Act Laws.
