Overall Experience
My wife's aunt has lived at Holbrook Hall for nearly a year now and she loves absolutely loves it. The owner, manager and the whole team are so warm, friendly and caring and she really couldn't be in better hands. The home is lovely and welcoming, the shared areas are delightful, the bedrooms are super and the gardens are stunning. There are a wide range of activities on offer to promote social engagement and well-being and the residents and team members are such a delight to chat to. The food looks delicious and auntie always tells us she thoroughly enjoys her meals and snacks.

We have been most impressed with the way the home has managed the current situation with the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK. They stopped all non-essential visits in plenty of time (very sensibly before the 'official' lockdown) and there has been excellent communication throughout including arranging video calls for residents and their families. Thank you to all at Holbrook, we think you are truly wonderful.

After living on her own in Kent for most of her adult life, my 83-year-old sister moved to Holbrook Hall to be near her family in Derbyshire. She settled in straight away and loves living there. On my visits to her, I am always impressed by the friendly atmosphere in the home and the attentive staff. I would unhesitatingly recommend Holbrook Hall as a first-rate residential care home in a wonderful setting in the Derbyshire countryside close to Belper.

Absolutely brilliant care home Mum could not be in a better place or receive more considerate and compassionate care than she does at Holbrook Hall. Management and staff very caring and I’m also very welcome to visit with the dogs anytime I like. Brilliant place and lovely grounds.

I cannot fault my mother’s care here in Holbrook Hall. She is content and as happy as we could wish for.she is happy, eats well, interacts with staff and we really cannot complain about anything. The staff are tolerant and understanding and we appreciate how hard they work to make our elderly/old mother comfortable and content. Thank you

The staff at Holbrook Hall provide a very caring service for my in-laws. All the staff I have met care about their well-being and provide all the support they need on a day-to-day basis. The home is located in a beautiful environment with views of the surrounding countryside and lovely grounds. I would certainly recommend Holbrook Hall to my friends.

Overall Experience

My mother has been a resident for almost 2 years and the care she has received has been exceptional. I want to highlight in particular the care that has been given over the last few weeks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Holbrook Hall closed the home to outside visitors early and this has undoubtedly meant that the residents have been kept safe. As well as the safety aspect of Covid-19 the staff are also extremely attentive to the mental well being of the residents by the staff arranging craft sessions and entertainment. In particular they had a lovely celebration for VE Day which I know my mother enjoyed immensely. They have also made provision for video calls which have been great for the residents and families alike. I would strongly recommend Holbrook Hall to anyone looking for a care home in Derbyshire.

The staff of Holbrook have been exceptional in these current, difficult times. However, this merely reflects the dedication and care they have shown to my Mum in all the time she has lived there. With lots of interaction from the staff and a host of activities to enjoy, mum is kept busy and active even at 95.

An added bonus is the beautiful setting and the accommodation itself. The residents' rooms are lovely and the communal areas a pleasure to sit in. I would recommend Holbrook Hall unreservedly.

Having to make the big decision to put my Dad into a care home I visited a few around my immediate area and found Holbrook Hall, although a little out of my preferred area, to be absolutely excellent. My Dad has settled very well and the care and respect he receives is second to none. All the staff are very caring and love their work and nothing is too much trouble.

Holbrook Hall is a lovely home which is very well run with kind and caring staff who are always willing to ‘go the extra mile’ for residents. It is in a beautiful location with views of trees and gardens from the windows and in nice weather the staff are very good at taking residents outside so they can have a view of the countryside.

Management and staff are also very supportive to family members and have made the difficult decision for my parents to move there a much smoother process than it might have otherwise been. We would recommend the home wholeheartedly to anyone thinking of going there.

My mum, a resident for 10 years, really enjoys life at Holbrook. Apart from the beautiful gardens to while away a summer's afternoon, there are always activities on offer - quizzes, flower arranging, crafts, films to name but a few. The staff are very kind, friendly and attentive and all the meals are lovely and homemade .
During this coronavirus crisis the staff are all going above and beyond to keep everyone safe and well and I have full confidence in them. To this date they are virus free.

I can highly recommend Holbrook Hall - a lovely caring ‘home from home’ place to live of a very high standard.

I cannot thank Holbrook Hall staff enough for all the love, care and attention that they obviously show each and every resident. They could not have made this difficult transition for my mother and us any easier. Their attention to detail is second to none.
As the daughter of a new resident, I could not have felt more supported or looked after myself. They always go above and beyond whatever is required, with a smile.

I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do. Holbrook Hall is a haven!

My mother has been a resident at Holbrook Hall for over 12 months, we did review other providers locally but only have direct experience of Holbrook Hall. In particular, we appreciate the management and staff who are enthusiastic in their roles and engage positively with any issues as they arise. I sense wherever possible recruitment is from local communities and I suspect staff retention better than any similar provider in the area. Mealtimes and the activity schedule are events that provide a focal point for residents each day, I particularly enjoy Sunday Worship which is sensitively pitched and has a high level of resident participation. The building does present access constraints but staff are alert to these and are compensated for by the historical setting. The care provided has allowed my mum to live with a degree of independence and level of dignity that would not have otherwise been the case.

Your kind comments are much appreciated and we are particularly heartened to learn of your enjoyment of our Sunday Worship which is thriving due to the dedication of our wonderful volunteers. Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this review.

My mother moved into Holbrook Hall in September 2018 aged 93. She found it very difficult at first to settle because she has been independent living on her own since my father died in 2011. The staff have been patient with her and now she is very happy there. She particularly loves the home-cooked food and going on visits to the garden centre. There is always some sort of activity happening from exercises to music, flower arranging, crafts, dominoes, etc. Also visiting entertainers.

I have been at Holbrook Hall for 11 months and have been very well looked after. The food is lovely and home-cooked, which I enjoy. Morning and afternoon drinks, with biscuits or fresh fruit are provided daily.
I am also pleased that I get a malty drink at bedtime.
I went on a day trip on a narrowboat with some more of the residents and had a great time.

Everybody is very caring and look after us very well.

Staff are very caring and treat the residents like people and speak to them very courteously. All residents are well looked after, and in the evening Mum is looked in on every hour to see if she is okay. She is fed well and wants for nothing. She goes on trips and is well care for when not on the premises.
