We have been most impressed with the way the home has managed the current situation with the Covid-19 outbreak in the UK. They stopped all non-essential visits in plenty of time (very sensibly before the 'official' lockdown) and there has been excellent communication throughout including arranging video calls for residents and their families. Thank you to all at Holbrook, we think you are truly wonderful.
What a fabulous review, thank you so much for lifting our spirits at this challenging time!
After living on her own in Kent for most of her adult life, my 83-year-old sister moved to Holbrook Hall to be near her family in Derbyshire. She settled in straight away and loves living there. On my visits to her, I am always impressed by the friendly atmosphere in the home and the attentive staff. I would unhesitatingly recommend Holbrook Hall as a first-rate residential care home in a wonderful setting in the Derbyshire countryside close to Belper.
I am delighted that your lovely sister is enjoying life at Holbrook Hall and thank you for providing such positive feedback, it is much appreciated.
Absolutely brilliant care home Mum could not be in a better place or receive more considerate and compassionate care than she does at Holbrook Hall. Management and staff very caring and I’m also very welcome to visit with the dogs anytime I like. Brilliant place and lovely grounds.
I am grateful for your valuable feedback; thank you so much.
I cannot fault my mother’s care here in Holbrook Hall. She is content and as happy as we could wish for.she is happy, eats well, interacts with staff and we really cannot complain about anything. The staff are tolerant and understanding and we appreciate how hard they work to make our elderly/old mother comfortable and content. Thank you
Thank you for such a wonderful review, and we are delighted that you would be happy to recommend our Home.
The staff at Holbrook Hall provide a very caring service for my in-laws. All the staff I have met care about their well-being and provide all the support they need on a day-to-day basis. The home is located in a beautiful environment with views of the surrounding countryside and lovely grounds. I would certainly recommend Holbrook Hall to my friends.
I am so pleased that you would be happy to recommend our home. Thank you for taking the time to review our service.
My mother has been a resident for almost 2 years and the care she has received has been exceptional. I want to highlight in particular the care that has been given over the last few weeks during the Covid-19 pandemic. Holbrook Hall closed the home to outside visitors early and this has undoubtedly meant that the residents have been kept safe. As well as the safety aspect of Covid-19 the staff are also extremely attentive to the mental well being of the residents by the staff arranging craft sessions and entertainment. In particular they had a lovely celebration for VE Day which I know my mother enjoyed immensely. They have also made provision for video calls which have been great for the residents and families alike. I would strongly recommend Holbrook Hall to anyone looking for a care home in Derbyshire.
I am so glad that your lovely mother enjoyed our VE Day celebrations so much, it was a fabulous occasion. Thank you for taking the time to review our service and for providing such positive feedback.
An added bonus is the beautiful setting and the accommodation itself. The residents' rooms are lovely and the communal areas a pleasure to sit in. I would recommend Holbrook Hall unreservedly.
Your kind words are much appreciated at this challenging time, thank you so much for taking the time to review our service.
Having to make the big decision to put my Dad into a care home I visited a few around my immediate area and found Holbrook Hall, although a little out of my preferred area, to be absolutely excellent. My Dad has settled very well and the care and respect he receives is second to none. All the staff are very caring and love their work and nothing is too much trouble.
We are really glad that your dad settled so well and so quickly. Thank you for the fabulous review.
Management and staff are also very supportive to family members and have made the difficult decision for my parents to move there a much smoother process than it might have otherwise been. We would recommend the home wholeheartedly to anyone thinking of going there.
It is great for staff to receive such positive feedback at this challenging time, thank you so much.
During this coronavirus crisis the staff are all going above and beyond to keep everyone safe and well and I have full confidence in them. To this date they are virus free.
I can highly recommend Holbrook Hall - a lovely caring ‘home from home’ place to live of a very high standard.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, it means a lot to us, particularly at this challenging time.
Mum has settled in really well and has made friends.
The staff and management have been nothing but kind and supportive.
There are plenty of activities for the residents to join in with.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to complete our review, the positive feedback is much appreciated.
As the daughter of a new resident, I could not have felt more supported or looked after myself. They always go above and beyond whatever is required, with a smile.
I would like to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for all that you do. Holbrook Hall is a haven!
We are delighted that you are so very pleased with the care which we are giving your lovely mum. Your fabulous review is much appreciated by all our staff, thank you so much.
Mum has been happily at home at Holbrook Hall for nearly two years. The staff are very kind and helpful, they are respectful of residents dignity but are also able to have a joke and a laugh. It’s lovely to see her so happy. I have no reservations in recommending Holbrook Hall.
Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this review. We feel privileged to care for your lovely mum and are delighted that you are so happy with our service.
My mother has been a resident at Holbrook Hall for over 12 months, we did review other providers locally but only have direct experience of Holbrook Hall. In particular, we appreciate the management and staff who are enthusiastic in their roles and engage positively with any issues as they arise. I sense wherever possible recruitment is from local communities and I suspect staff retention better than any similar provider in the area. Mealtimes and the activity schedule are events that provide a focal point for residents each day, I particularly enjoy Sunday Worship which is sensitively pitched and has a high level of resident participation. The building does present access constraints but staff are alert to these and are compensated for by the historical setting. The care provided has allowed my mum to live with a degree of independence and level of dignity that would not have otherwise been the case.
Your kind comments are much appreciated and we are particularly heartened to learn of your enjoyment of our Sunday Worship which is thriving due to the dedication of our wonderful volunteers. Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this review.
I would highly recommend Holbrook Hall. The staff are so friendly and very organised. Plenty of activities, the food is lovely and well presented. Just like you were in a high-class hotel, In fact, when you walk in it feels like a hotel. You are always made very welcome whenever you go. I wouldn't hesitate to live here home from home. Every resident is well cared for.
What a fabulous review, thank you so very much!
Helpful, willing staff. Nice environment, clean but not cold and sterile. No smell. Variety of activities.
A fabulous review, thank you very much indeed!
I like the friendliness and good food. Beautiful setting in the countryside. Able to come and go as I please.
It is always great to have review from a resident, thank you so much for your feedback!
My mother moved into Holbrook Hall in September 2018 aged 93. She found it very difficult at first to settle because she has been independent living on her own since my father died in 2011. The staff have been patient with her and now she is very happy there. She particularly loves the home-cooked food and going on visits to the garden centre. There is always some sort of activity happening from exercises to music, flower arranging, crafts, dominoes, etc. Also visiting entertainers.
We are delighted that your lovely mother has settled so well and we really enjoy her keen sense of humour! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service, it is much appreciated.
I am also pleased that I get a malty drink at bedtime.
I went on a day trip on a narrowboat with some more of the residents and had a great time.
Everybody is very caring and look after us very well.
It is always lovely to get a review from a resident, thank you so much for taking the time to put pen to paper! It is a real pleasure to have you here at Holbrook Hall and we are delighted that you are so happy with us.
Staff are very caring and treat the residents like people and speak to them very courteously. All residents are well looked after, and in the evening Mum is looked in on every hour to see if she is okay. She is fed well and wants for nothing. She goes on trips and is well care for when not on the premises.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service. We are delighted that you and your mother are so happy with our care and that you would be extremely likely to recommend our home.

He comes with values of integrity, care, compassion and ethics. He is a specialist in acute and urgent care pathways within adult mental health services and has expertise in the management of mentally disordered offenders, substance misuse, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and dementia. At the heart of Dr Swalli ‘s work is to provide psychoeducation to service users, carers and families to tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health issues. He is an expert in applying Mental Health and Mental Capacity Act Laws.

I have worked in adult social care for over 38 years, beginning my career as a Night Care Assistant. I developed skills both through life experiences and academic studies in health and social care which enabled me to progress to the role of a Deputy Manager and onto a Registered Manager, which I have been for over 8 years.
I believe that the key to managing a great care home is sound leaderships skills, excellent communication and candour and that anything is possible with risk management. I have bult solid professional relationships with residents and their families and external professional services.
Working in adult care is wonderful and I feel it is a privilege and honour that the residents at Holbrook Hall have allowed me into their lives. I work closely with staff and the residents so that their goals and milestones are achievable and help them to make magical memories they thought would be impossible, possible.

I am a dedicated Team Leader at Holbrook Hall, driven by a genuine passion for supporting and enriching the lives of older adults. While completing my full-time doctoral research in Chemistry, I worked as a part-time carer in the UK, gaining valuable experience across adult education, research, teaching, and the care sector. These combined experiences, together with my health and social care qualifications, have strengthened my professional practice and helped me build strong, trusting relationships with residents, families, professionals, and my care team.
My PhD research focused on developing neurosensors for brain-tumour detection and targeted drug delivery. Although my academic background is highly scientific, I find the greatest fulfilment in delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
Supporting elderly individuals who rely on our help brings me deep purpose and joy, and continues to inspire my commitment to adult care.
