My brother asked us to find him a care home, where he could spend the rest of his days surrounded by friendly, helpful and caring people. Although his stay was short, we found all of these and more in abundance at Holbrook Hall. We were so fortunate to have secured a place for him in a home, which far exceeded our expectations. The whole atmosphere including the owner, staff and residents gave a happy, safe and secure feeling. We felt the weight of worry lifted from our shoulders, just knowing he would be happy and well cared for there - and he was. We were made to feel very welcome and treated as though we had gone to see them all as a family.
I was delighted to read your very complimentary review and to learn that we 'far exceeded your expectations'! Thank you so much. We are all just sorry that we did not have the pleasure of your lovely brother's company for longer.
Mum has been very happy at Holbrook Hall with excellent support from the staff.
She has thoroughly enjoyed the meals served and particularly enjoys the singing and dancing and church service activities.
Thank you for your kind review. It is a real pleasure to have your mum with us at Holbrook Hall and we are delighted at how well she has settled in. Indeed, she loves to join in with our activities and entertainment and has made some good friends.
Always a nice welcome and warm. My friend always has a good word for the staff, food etc.
A lovely review, thank you so much.
The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful and there is a lovely atmosphere here.
Many thanks for taking the time to review our Home.
During my stay, I was disappointed with the cooked meals. The veg was waterlogged. Most meals were overcooked. Other residents also complained to me about the food. My respite room was fine. From the room, it was a long way to the dining room and sitting room.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with valuable feedback on your recent stay with us. I was surprised and disappointed to read your comments regarding your meals as we pride ourselves on providing high-quality cuisine, freshly prepared, using reputable local suppliers. However, I...
My aunt has been at Holbrook Hall for six years and has been very happy there. The staff are all excellent and very caring and the management are always involved closely with the daily activities. Any queries are answered promptly and I have already recommended the home to a number of people.
It has been a great privilege to care for your lovely aunt over the last 6 years, she is an inspiration to us all. Thank you for your kind review.
I have been a visitor to Holbrook Hall for six years and have been made welcome by the brilliant staff. It is warm and well lit. The residents have the best care and attention. Plenty of activity plus entertainment is vital, which they get.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It has been a real pleasure to get to know you over the years and we all really enjoy your regular visits!
My mother moved here after a long period of living alone when following a fall she could no longer cope at home. It was a huge adjustment for her and although she would still prefer to be in her own home she repeatedly says how well she is looked after. She also says that the staff are very kind. She can't participate in most of the varied activities but appreciates a group that meets in response to suggestions from her friends
It is a real pleasure to care for your mother and we are extremely grateful to her for helping us to create a very popular poetry club!
My 92-year-old aunt began her association with Holbrook Hall a few years ago for respite care when we were away. When she needed more permanent care we knew exactly who to ask and where she would prefer to go. The staff welcomed her like an old friend and my aunt lived there very happily until she developed an aggressive form of dementia. We feared that her needs would no longer be appropriate for Holbrook but to our immense relief, the staff willingly and readily agreed to continue caring for her even as she worsened rapidly. Her exemplary care whilst always respecting her dignity never faltered during all her time there and very importantly in her last few days. We were also so well cared for as we sat by her bed waiting for the inevitable. There is no easy way to prepare for the death of a loved one and there is no perfect place to die - that said Holbrook stepped up to the mark in every respect, supporting my aunt and supporting us. For that we will always be grateful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation. It was a real privilege to care for you lovely aunt, and she is sadly missed by us all.
My uncle chose to come to Holbrook Hall in 2016 as he deteriorated and could not manage at home anymore. He enjoys the company around him knowing he is safe 24/7. He enjoys the variety of food, it's a good standard. The carers are always happy to help no matter what. Always good entertainments and trips out. I would recommend this home to anyone very good 1st class.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service, and we are delighted that your uncle is so happy living here at Holbrook Hall.
I am very pleased to have found somewhere so nice for my parents.
Thank you so much for the review, Michael, it is greatly appreciated.
My mother is always well dressed and has her hair done once a week. She recently celebrated her 97th birthday and the staff arranged a private lunch for our family in the panelled drawing room which made it a very special day. The food was excellent and a special cake was made for her tea later. My mother's room, although small, is always clean and tidy and the bathroom is clean.
Thank you very much for taking the time to review our service, Anne, and I am delighted that you enjoyed your mother's birthday lunch in our new private dining area!
Mum was in Holbrook Residential Home in Derbyshire for approximately 5 years and had the most incredible care and was very happy. In November she had a fall and fractured her hip which caused other complications and was very poorly. Amazingly, when she was well enough to leave the hospital, Holbrook said that they would like to have her back at the home which we didn't expect. They gave her the most incredible care until she, sadly, passed away in February. The family are so very grateful to all of the staff for the love and care they gave to her.
It was a real privilege to care for your wonderful mum over the last 5 years, and a pleasure to get to know her lovely family. We miss you all!
My Mother has dementia and is not always cooperative but the staff in the home are very good and patient with her. They are understanding of her needs and do everything to meet those needs and encourage her. They also support us as a family as well.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service, it is greatly appreciated. We feel privileged to have had the opportunity to care for your mum over the last 4 years and as you know we are all very fond of her.
A warm welcome and I found my grandma happy, warm and relaxed in one of the lounges. We moved to the conservatory where we could all sit down and were kindly offered a drink by the staff. My grandma had had another excellent meal that lunchtime and had put in her teatime order. The food is marvellous at Holbrook. The staff are kind and patient with residents and guests and so very helpful. The house and rooms are spotless and cosy and the gardens are beautiful to look out on and walk round.
I cannot fault Holbrook and I am very reassured knowing my grandma is a resident at this fantastic place.
I am delighted that you are so happy with the care which we provide your grandma, and very grateful to you for taking the time to review our service.
Thank you to all the friendly staff and excellent food he enjoyed and for showing him that a residential home can feel like a hotel but with more staff around.
Thank you so much for your review, Ann. We were delighted to be able to welcome your father to Holbrook Hall and look forward to his next visit in April!
The resident is contented. The home and grounds are well maintained and the staff are lovely.
A wonderful review, thank you so much.
If you've got to live anywhere apart from your own home this is the place.
The staff are nice friends are nice we've painted this morning. The food is excellent.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service, it is much appreciated.
As Holbrook Hall goes it is to be highly recommended. The staff are well trained, helpful and caring. We are provided with entertainment and things to do all this in lovely surroundings. It is also run by the people who own it and not by a committee.
Thank you so much for your review, and I am glad that you are still very happy to be living here in Holbrook Hall.
Holbrook Hall provides a very caring and safe environment in a beautiful country house with well-maintained gardens and stunning views over the surrounding countryside. Mum enjoys being in the home, and feels safe and well cared for. The staff are lovely, very friendly and go the extra mile to ensure the residents are well cared for but remain independent and maintain their dignity. The home offers a varied timetable of activities which residents are encouraged to take part in.
Many thanks for taking the time to give us valuable feedback.

He comes with values of integrity, care, compassion and ethics. He is a specialist in acute and urgent care pathways within adult mental health services and has expertise in the management of mentally disordered offenders, substance misuse, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and dementia. At the heart of Dr Swalli ‘s work is to provide psychoeducation to service users, carers and families to tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health issues. He is an expert in applying Mental Health and Mental Capacity Act Laws.

I have worked in adult social care for over 38 years, beginning my career as a Night Care Assistant. I developed skills both through life experiences and academic studies in health and social care which enabled me to progress to the role of a Deputy Manager and onto a Registered Manager, which I have been for over 8 years.
I believe that the key to managing a great care home is sound leaderships skills, excellent communication and candour and that anything is possible with risk management. I have bult solid professional relationships with residents and their families and external professional services.
Working in adult care is wonderful and I feel it is a privilege and honour that the residents at Holbrook Hall have allowed me into their lives. I work closely with staff and the residents so that their goals and milestones are achievable and help them to make magical memories they thought would be impossible, possible.

I am a dedicated Team Leader at Holbrook Hall, driven by a genuine passion for supporting and enriching the lives of older adults. While completing my full-time doctoral research in Chemistry, I worked as a part-time carer in the UK, gaining valuable experience across adult education, research, teaching, and the care sector. These combined experiences, together with my health and social care qualifications, have strengthened my professional practice and helped me build strong, trusting relationships with residents, families, professionals, and my care team.
My PhD research focused on developing neurosensors for brain-tumour detection and targeted drug delivery. Although my academic background is highly scientific, I find the greatest fulfilment in delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
Supporting elderly individuals who rely on our help brings me deep purpose and joy, and continues to inspire my commitment to adult care.
