Excellent..
Thank you very much indeed for your review.
My mother has been treated with great care since she went into the home three years ago. She looks smarter, eats a better diet and gets more exercise than she did in her own home. She has her hair done regularly, teeth checked by a dentist, regular chiropody treatment and has even had an optician examine her eyes. She broke her hip in April 2016 and has been encouraged to become mobile again, using her zimmer frame. No mean achievement at 97! We mentioned to the Manager that she is often unsure of the date and, as a result, a large clock showing the date was brought.
Your complimentary comments are very much appreciated, Linda. Many thanks.
The home affords very comfortable surroundings in attractive grounds. It is quiet and safe. The rooms are well furnished and clean. The care of residents is of prime concern to the staff. My mother in law enjoys the food and has said she wished she had entered the home earlier as it has made her life so much easier. Visitors are encouraged and there is always a place to enjoy the time spent with the resident.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review our service, Andrew, it is much appreciated.
Very satisfied. Accommodation excellent. Staff caring and very helpful. Diet - varied and wholesome, well cooked.
I have been here for a few days and feel very happy with the care and food.
I think it is a fabulous place. Amazing house. Wonderful views. Staff mostly friendly and helpful, plenty of activities.
I was already familiar with the hall when it was a private residence. In my experience, it is far and away the best residential care home in the area. The staff are wonderful and the amenities excellent.
My wife and I have lived in Holbrook town for 51 years and now I am on my own, I can think of no better place to live out the rest of my life.
I think Holbrook Hall is a lovely home. Very friendly care staff seem happy and all residents seem comfortable and happy too. When visiting my client who I cared for in his own home I have noticed a great improvement in how he looks and feels. I am very proud that my client is being looked after here at Holbrook Hall.
Although she was unable to join in some of the activities organised, she really enjoyed the ones she did participate in, even having a dance with the staff on occasion. She formed a lovely bond with some of her carers, especially towards the end of her life, sharing a laugh and a joke with them on many occasions.
Holbrook Hall has proven to be the perfect place for my Mum to recover from a serious illness. Hopefully, she will remain as a long-term resident. She has settled in extremely well as a result of the extremely friendly and professional managers and staff. Her bedroom is modern with excellent facilities and the two lounges and conservatory are warm and comfortable. The meals are varied and home cooked to a high standard. Knowing that my Mum is comfortable and receiving excellent care has given me confidence in the service that Holbrook Hall provides.
The care and help given is second to none. I would recommend this establishment without hesitation. Every member of staff treats the residents with the same care and consideration with no task too much trouble for them. The communication from the staff is targeted at the right level. The building and grounds are well maintained and bear more resemblance to a country hotel than a care home. In summary, an excellent place to live and be cared for.
She was always happy, clean and well nourished. The staff organised events, including outings, designed with great success at stimulating the residents and awakening their interests.
I would recommend Holbrook Hall to anyone seeking top class residential care.
I have nothing but praise for the staff. The service they provide and the facilities. My father is very comfortable and never has anything to complain about. The events they put on are varied and frequent. It is a shame some are not better supported.
I have complete trust in the care that my Mum receives and am very grateful that she is cared for so well and more than anything is happy. She loves living here and myself and all the family enjoy visiting.
I enjoy living here. The staff are very caring, even during the night. The food is very good - simple but well cooked and presented. My room is always kept clean. If I need anything I have only to ask for it at the office. My visitors are always welcomed, given refreshments etc. We are often offered outings and activities. We often have people who come to entertain us. We have film shows also.
Mum has now been a resident for just over three years and we could not be more pleased with the care she has received during this period. The care is of the very highest standard available and the management and staff share the same vision of what a quality care home should offer. There has been a fairly large turnover of staff during this period, but new staff are integrated quickly and the 'family' atmosphere is not adversely affected by this. Mum suffers from Alzheimer's disease and as her condition has worsened the amount of care and support offered has increased to meet her changing needs, which is a welcome comfort to relatives at a difficult time coping with this truly devastating disease. Thank-you.
The food is excellent, extra portions are offered if requested and visitors are always presented with tea and biscuits.
Care seems to be first-class from a visitors point of view as my father seems very content at Holbrook Hall - a highly recommended home.
Most definitely thrilled that after 3 years at this residence staff are still as compassionate, kind and sincere as the first day. My mother is receiving immaculate care, this is all round a 5 star facility.
Mum passed away on 5th February 2016 aged 92. Mum had lived at Holbrook Hall care home for 3 and half years and during that time was settled and happy. I particularly want to focus my recommendation on the last week of mums life. When l look back on that very emotional plus difficult time, I can honestly say that the staff of Holbrook Hall supported mum, my sister and I to the very highest standard - we cannot thank them enough.
My father lived at this home for nearly three years until his death aged 91 years. He was extremely happy and settled in very well. Holbrook has a very high staff/resident ratio and many of the staff have worked there for many years. There is low staff turnover. We visited every week for nearly three years and were always struck by the clean and well cared for. The elderly of course can be difficult but the patience and care of the staff was excellent. The hal is in a beautiful setting with nice gardens. The palliative care my father received at the end of his life was excellent. We were lucky to find this place.

Dr Jaspal Swalli is the Registered Provider and Medical Director for Fairway Homes (Derby) Ltd. He is a Registered Medical Doctor with the General Medical Council and a Consultant Psychiatrist. He has been a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2012.
He comes with values of integrity, care, compassion and ethics. He is a specialist in acute and urgent care pathways within adult mental health services and has expertise in the management of mentally disordered offenders, substance misuse, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and dementia. At the heart of Dr Swalli ‘s work is to provide psychoeducation to service users, carers and families to tackle the stigma and discrimination around mental health issues. He is an expert in applying Mental Health and Mental Capacity Act Laws.

I have worked in adult social care for over 38 years, beginning my career as a Night Care Assistant. I developed skills both through life experiences and academic studies in health and social care which enabled me to progress to the role of a Deputy Manager and onto a Registered Manager, which I have been for over 8 years.
I believe that the key to managing a great care home is sound leaderships skills, excellent communication and candour and that anything is possible with risk management. I have bult solid professional relationships with residents and their families and external professional services.
Working in adult care is wonderful and I feel it is a privilege and honour that the residents at Holbrook Hall have allowed me into their lives. I work closely with staff and the residents so that their goals and milestones are achievable and help them to make magical memories they thought would be impossible, possible.

I am a dedicated Team Leader at Holbrook Hall, driven by a genuine passion for supporting and enriching the lives of older adults. While completing my full-time doctoral research in Chemistry, I worked as a part-time carer in the UK, gaining valuable experience across adult education, research, teaching, and the care sector. These combined experiences, together with my health and social care qualifications, have strengthened my professional practice and helped me build strong, trusting relationships with residents, families, professionals, and my care team.
My PhD research focused on developing neurosensors for brain-tumour detection and targeted drug delivery. Although my academic background is highly scientific, I find the greatest fulfilment in delivering compassionate, person-centred care.
Supporting elderly individuals who rely on our help brings me deep purpose and joy, and continues to inspire my commitment to adult care.
