Holmewood is located on the outskirts of the busy town of Chesterfield, nestled at the heart of the community alongside its sister home, Barnfield.

Holmewood prides itself on the care and attention given to residents and their families. Carers concentrate on getting to know residents and their families, enabling staff to look after physical needs and more importantly delivering what emotional support residents and their family might need.

The home understands that choosing a care home is one of the most difficult decisions a family member or advocate can make and are there to help families through that decision, through the move-in and beyond.

Holmewood Care Home also offers excellent activities, which provide stimulation and engagement to all residents. The home's activities coordinator works with individuals to ensure that they are offered activities that will suit each person. Sometimes, this means that one-to-one activities are more appropriate than group activities.

Along with the excellent care offered by very experienced teams, significant support is offered to family members too. Other seminars are around funding care, lasting power of attorney or where end-of-life care takes place and discussing wishes and wants with loved ones.

Mums been with manor care home, Holmewood, since September 2025. Rooms are lovely and cosy. Staff are caring and polite, always keep family informed if anything needs to be discussed about Mum. Good activities and an all-round genuine care for all residents. Clean and tidy, friendly and knowledgeable

Last 2 weekends' entertainment was very good and stimulating for Mum. Everyone gets together. Really friendly staff, including family members, with open arms. All staff so caring towards all residents. In time, Mum will become settled and happy. I am sure she is in the best place

Every time I visit I am made to feel welcome and am always pleased with the way the staff respond to residents. There is always a warm, friendly atmosphere in Holmewood. My wife had to go into Holmewood because I could not keep her safe, and I am so very grateful to Holmewood for taking care of her
for me. I cannot thank the staff there enough for the care she has received. And I know that she is safe and cannot hurt herself or anyone else. Thank you.

I have found the care home a welcoming and friendly environment. The staff have been supportive of my dad as a resident and also us as a family. Very happy here. The day we arrived, another resident said to us 'he'll be happy here," and she was right. Entertainment very good, and everyone included regardless of ability. Doesn't complain about the food, and he's a fussy eater. Lots of lovely cake!! The staff inspire confidence. Very attentive
to the needs of the residents.

VE Day Celebrations.
Singer was ok, which the residents liked. We were encouraged to join in (as usual), we didn't feel pressured and enjoyed every minute.
I like that all the staff joined in and dressed up for the occasion.

I feel very nice here and the staff are doing an amazing job. I like the food and activities are very relevant. My room is very clean thank you so much. Activity lady is going amazing job. Loving painting and arts and crafts session involving making a memory tree. I really enjoyed this activity.

This was short term emergency respite care, I have always been apprehensive about using this service, however, it surpassed my expectations. The allocated room was nicely furnished with its own toilet and sink and very clean. I found the management and staff to be very friendly, kind, caring and courteous
to both myself and my mum.
I cannot thank the Manager and her team enough for the kindness they have shown to mum.
The only improvement I could suggest would be intermittent air fresheners strategically placed.

This care home has gone above and beyond for my grandmother, she was really well looked after and managed to do things during her time here that she wouldn't have ever got to do.
She was happy and contented here. All the staff are incredible and really friendly.

I have been working here since summer 2023 but I have over 10 years of experience in activities and care. I am an NVQ 3 qualified, fire trainer instructor and I have a degree in pedagogy & psychology. I can sing, and play the guitar and my favourite activity is a fun singalong. My proudest achievement in this role is winning 1st place for the tastiest cake in a cake-making activity. In my spare time, I also like to take photographs. My passion for care began when I used to visit my grandma who was in Holmewood Care Home, I got to know the manager who saw something in me and suggested a career in care, I wasn’t sure if I could do it but she encouraged me to give it try and I have never looked back.


I started as a care assistant 25 years ago and gradually worked my way through the different roles in the home, becoming a deputy in 2014 and then manager in 2022, an achievement I am really proud of.


Every day is so rewarding, when new resident arrives, they can start off scared and unsettled so the challenge is to make them feel at home and like part of the family, when you see them transform and thrive, it makes it all worthwhile.


My qualifications include NVQ levels 2, 3, 4 and 5 in Health & Social Care and management.
