My Mum went in for a weeks respite for the very first time at the end of March. This was an anxious time for us both however Nicky and all the lovely carers took great care of Mum. Mum even made new friends which was great for her. Unfortunately had to fund this myself due to an administrative issue which is being sorted however it was worth every penny as I was recommended and knew she would be very safe and looked after which she was. Mum will definitely be coming back and I would like to thank all involved for making her stay very easy and for the care given.

Mum went into the care home at the end of January. All the staff are very caring towards mum. It always seems clean and tidy, and all meals are cooked on site. They meet all of Mum's requirements. Mum cannot do anything for herself at the moment.

My mum has been a resident at Mount Pleasant for the last eighteen months, during which time she has thrived and has a wonderful quality of life. She is looked after so well and adores all the staff. She enjoys the activities, especially spending time with the children from the local nursery and the Christmas Party. Any medical issues are dealt with promptly, as are any personal issues, and it is always evident how much the staff care for her and show respect, dignity and affection at all times. It is very reassuring to know she is safe and looked after to the highest standard.

A lovely care home where my mother of 102 years is cared for very well all her needs are met with care and dignity. Activities are provided to keep her occupied (although she can never remember doing them unless prompted) The staff are always on hand to answer any enquiries that we have. Thank you to all the staff for keeping my mother safe and happy.

Dad has been a resident for over a year.
What shines out at Mount Pleasant is the understanding and kindness of the staff. They have taught my family a lot about managing the dementia and anxieties that my dad has. I like the way all the staff whatever their job title, are there first and foremost for the residents. Like an extended family. They inform us of any concerns promptly.
Visits from a doctor, chiropodist and hair dresser all help to keep dad healthy and looking smart.
There is an extensive programme of activities, events, visiting entertainers and trips out.
There is no shortage of good food, drinks and snacks.
I would love it if there were a bigger secure garden but on the plus side there are views and walks through fields or the village of Winshill, just on the doorstep.

I have little experience of other care homes but my family feel very happy with the care given here at Mount Pleasant.

All management and staff at the care home are very polite friendly and professional. I can visit my father whenever I want but I avoid mealtimes as I want my dad to socialise with his friends. My dad always looks very clean and cared for and I know by looking at him his clothes are washed and clean. The residents have a constant supply of drink and snacks and their meals always look very healthy and well-balanced. I'm extremely happy with the care my dad receives from the home.

All of the staff are very pleasant, use the person's name at all times. The staff try to engage with the person to either chat or join in activities. Rooms are clean and tidy. We were able to personalise the room with pictures which made it more homely. When my husband fell ill there were full notes explaining all actions taken, including offering food and/or drinks and whether they were accepted.

My mom moved into Mount Pleasant approximately 6 weeks ago and from the start the staff have been polite and helpful to mom. She has vascular dementia and a rare illness that affects her mobility, spacial awareness and her ability to hold items steadily. She’s still going through a period of settling in but the manager is working with us to find out how she can help. I love that the home has daily activities, a fabulous activities programme and the residents are actively encouraged to participate.
I am comforted by the fact that the manager actively asks me regularly if I have any concerns. That openness is great.

Where there have been concerns, as there is with anyone moving to a new environment, they have been addressed and dealt with.

Overall Experience

Well on arrival I didn't know what to expect, shocked was my first thought and going into the resident's room my jaw dropped to the floor. It was extremely dirty. I walked into the en-suite and thought oh my days. I proceeded to clean it myself, the person I was visiting was just lying on the bed, and her sandwiches which obviously was her tea were just left on the side. As this resident in my eyes should be assisted fed was just left to her own devices. Her personal hygiene was very poor and was in desperate need of a bath, the wooden flooring was absolutely filthy. Her bed was so old and as I sat on it was very uncomfortable. I have grave concerns over the care of this individual who is a paying relative. My rating would be 0 if that choice was available.

My overall opinion of MPCH is very good, the staff are wonderful and very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them. Everybody is very polite and professional, my only concerns are as follows:
1) I would like to see my mum in a more comfortable chair instead of being in a wheelchair when I visit - she won't say that she is uncomfortable but I know she is.
2) My mum would love to have her hair done more often.

3) There is always an alarm sounding - why can't it be silenced more often?

Moved Mum into the home in October and she settled within two weeks, mainly I think due to the very friendly atmosphere in the home. Encouragement to join in and chatter with people was a huge part of this and currently, I am delighted with the place.

My mother in law has Vascular dementia and Moderate Alzheimer’s and has been struggling at home especially at night becoming agitated and upset thinking people are breaking in. The care company were not providing her with the care she needed. My husband and I were very worried and quite stressed with the situation. The manager of Mount Pleasant Care Home was absolutely amazing and supported her and us before and during her first week's respite in February, which enabled my husband and I to go on holiday. She was so warmly welcomed and she absolutely loved her time in the home. It was wonderful to see her laughing and socialising she actually got her sparkle back, amazing. When she returned home she really struggled and over the following two weeks, she became more agitated and upset resulting in several calls to social care, the police and ambulance service. She is now living full time at Mount Pleasant where she is happy and safe. Thanks so much to the manager and her amazing team.

Nikki KellyJob Title:Home Manager

Having qualified as a registered nurse in 2000, I bring over 17 years’ experience to my role, with 10 years’ experience in orthopaedics nursing, working predominantly with elderly patients.

This wealth of nursing experience has equipped me with the appropriate skills for my role and daily life at Mount Pleasant, where I work hard to ensure that those in my care lead happy and fulfilling lives, whilst maintaining choice over the care and support they receive. Personal preferences from waking times to food choices, hobbies and interests are incorporated into any routine to ensure a home-from-home feeling from day one.

I am passionate about delivering great care and firmly believe in the importance of maintaining strong relationships with residents, their relatives and friends. Understanding the important contribution that these relationships make to the successful running of a care home, and making Mount Pleasant a home for our residents to live well in. I love nothing more than spending time with our residents and getting to know them better.

I look forward to meeting those who wish to find out more about our warm, welcoming community. I am happy to show you around our home.
