Dad has been a resident since September last year. I visit him on a regular basis. Each time I go I am struck by the professional manner of all the staff. But not only that, they care about the people they are caring for, I have seen them hugging residents and engaging with them, not just performing
what must be arduous duties but actually showing affection for them and going the extra mile even towards the end of what was most likely a trying shift. In my opinion, they should all be commended for a job well done and I would most certainly recommend this particular home to anyone seeking a safe, secure and above all a friendly place.

My Mum spent 3 years at Riverdale, where she was looked after extremely well. The standard of care was very good and the food was excellent (something my Mum really enjoyed). I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anybody who has a relation with Dementia. Many thanks to the staff
and management for all your efforts.

My mother was resident in Riverdale 8 months following her husbands death. Her time their was spent surrounded by very attentive and caring staff both day and night. She was constantly being reassured and after several months settled into her new surroundings thanks to the caring and thoughtful staff.
The facilities are very good and she thoroughly enjoyed the many good meals.
With her family living over 150 miles away we were reassured by the consideration and care shown by the staff to her between our weekly visits.

Hi an update on my mums care, she has been in Riverdale a couple of years now, can't believe the progress she has made, you can see the difference in her she's happy, content, loves all the carers, has a laugh and joins in on the activities provided. The staff are always so caring and thoughtful towards
her. She was depressed when she first went in the care home with her dementia, now she is a different woman and has amazed me and my sister to how she used to be. Brilliant care and the lady in the kitchen always spoils her at mealtimes, the home cooked food is a high standard and plenty of variety. There is always a quick response when medical care is needed. Can't thank the staff enough, me and my sister can relax from all the stress and worry we were experiencing knowing my mother is in the capable hands of all the nursing staff there.

Job Title: Home Manager

Hi! My name is Denise West, and I'm the Home Manager at Riverdale Care Home in Chesterfield. I qualified as a registered nurse in 1990 and have worked in the independent care of the elderly sector ever since.


I've worked as a nurse on nights, working my way through the ranks to be a Home Manager, Regional Manager, Regional Director and even a Managing Director. Following some personal bereavement in 2016, I tried to step away from the sector and do something completely different, but got drawn back into the role of Home Manager via some consultancy work. I love this role as it gives me the opportunity to work with the residents and their families at a much more personal level, and gives me the opportunity to implement my dementia care skills, as this is where my heart lies.
