Lovely, friendly and welcoming home. The carers, staff, cleaners and main team go out of their way to make my aunt comfortable. They also come and chat, her room is light and airy. My aunt enjoys the food which is set out nicely and home often smells of lovely baked goods. She is very happy here, and
I am very happy that we found Wheathills House.
Reply from Rebecca Whitehouse, Marketing at Wheathills HouseThank you for your lovely review, so glad your Aunt has settled in at Wheathills House.

My father has been a resident at Wheathills since the spring of 2025. We considered several places for him to live but we all knew the feeling at Wheathills was something special compared to other options from when we first visited. My father has settled in incredibly well to the homely environment,
the whole team is very friendly, professional and kind and my father has integrated well with the other residents too. The food is also super, all home cooked and fresh and there are regular activities and seasonal orientated events. It's very reassuring to feel that my father is in such safe hands. Thank you to all the team at Wheathills for your ongoing excellence.

First class care for my Mum by the friendly dedicated team 24/7 giving the family reassurance that she is safe and cared for. Mum is happy here as living at home is no longer an option. Good rooms, good food, attentive staff. It's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Mum has people to talk
to which is so important. She has her hair done every week, chiropodist visits regularly and the doctor comes frequently.
Reply from Rebecca Whitehouse, Marketing at Wheathills HouseThank you for the lovely review and positive feedback, we are very happy Mum feels content and happy at Wheathills House. Nice to see the staff's hard work is well received and appreciated.

The care home is a lovely older Victorian building it has been extended and successfully renovated to modern standards, the service standards are very good and all staff are polite and respectful. The care home lacks outside spaces that are suitable for resident that want to enjoy some fresh air and
exercise in a safe and secure place, some light background music would also be nice for companionship.

A very welcoming care home with a dedicated staff. They are patient, empathetic and reassuring to all residents. The home is efficiently managed and provides a high standard of accommodation, home cooked quality meals and comfortable communal areas to sit and relax. There is access to the extensive
grounds and countryside views from the light and airy conservatory. It is a very pleasant environment.

In March we came to the difficult decision that we could no longer meet our father's needs at home. The manager listened to our needs carefully and was able to answer all our questions, however small, and described how Wheathills could meet dad's requirements. I was reassured that Wheathills have 24hour
access to medical support if residents need it. We were able to personalise his room so it felt like a home from home. All staff have taken the time to get to know him and make him feel welcome. Dad can decide how and where to spend his days, either joining activities, sitting in the conservatory or spending time in his room. There's a garden with beautiful views if he wants to go for a walk. The dining room serves a choice of delicious meals. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. When I visit the atmosphere is always calm and organised, and I'm made to feel welcome too. I have no hesitation in recommending Wheathills to other families.

Wheathills are an exceptional care home. All the staff take the time to get to know the residents and go above and beyond in their care. My father is not the easiest resident to look after and has some behavioural issues, again the staff have so much patience with him. I cannot fault them at all, the
standard of care is exceptional. The food is amazing my father constantly comments how good the food is and he can put in a request for a "fry up" for his breakfast the following morning and they will accommodate this. Again I think the staff and Wheathills are so good and it's such a brilliant nursing home I would heavily recommend anybody looking for a caring home from home for their loved one, to seriously look at Wheathills as they would get looked after and cared for extremely well.
Wheathills is the best thing that could have happened to my Dad. Thank you to all the staff you are exceptional.

Our dad has been a resident at Wheathills for just over two years now. In his 97th year, me and all my brothers and sisters are really pleased with everything about his care and stay there, especially as we know he isn't always the easiest of customers to deal with and remains in firm denial about his
age and abilities! The property feels more like a country house hotel with beautiful gardens and extensive views over the surrounding countryside but it is most definitely an efficient and effectively run, caring environment. Dad has shared how much he enjoys the food and drink and comments how well the place is managed. Nothing seems too much trouble whenever any of us make contact with the office team, which is every month as we take it in turns to come over and take him out for lunch, a drive or join him for a chat in the extensive conservatory. A huge thank you to all the team for keeping Dad safe and cared for.

Dad has been in Wheathills now for over two years, the staff are excellent and caring, nothing too much trouble, (not sure he fully appreciates how good his life is in there!)
The food is good and varied, it's a safe and harmonious home with plenty of interaction and events to occupy the residents,
and a lot of hard work put in by the team. No hesitation in recommending it to all I meet. Thanks.

The transition between living independently and living in care can be a tough one but in most cases it's a necessity. This was the case for my parents. We'd had an experience at another residential home before finding Wheathills. The first home was obviously not right for my parents. Luckily we found
Wheathills and they transferred as soon as was possible. Wheathills has been a completely different experience. The management team is well structured, very accessible and well connected to external services that are essential for the residents. The staff work brilliantly with the residents, connecting with each person individually, nothing is too much trouble, and they are always responsive to individual needs. Inhouse chefs cook fresh food daily, and menu is varied. The location is fabulous. Accommodation is comfortable and clean, with good-sized ensuite rooms. We are so pleased we found Wheathills. We thank the full team for their work and the care and support they give our Mum and Dad.

I have lived at Wheathills House Care Home for approximately 6 months. My experience is as follows:
My room is warm and comfortable and well-maintained. Having panoramic views of the countryside, which gives me a great deal of pleasure. The staff I have found to be caring, pleasant and supportive.
and treat me with dignity. But like every care environment, Wheathills could do with more staff to reduce work pressure. The food choices and quality are very good. The management is friendly and supportive. However, on occasions, requests have been promised but forgotten e.g. replacement of light bulbs, hanging of pictures, curtains coming off the rails, purchase of some favourite food items. Overall I'm very happy with the the choice I've made to live permanently here.

My mum has been looked after at Wheathills, for about 7 months, mum has had no regrets about leaving her home and moving into Wheathills, only for a respite at first, but now does not want to leave. The staff are a credit to their profession. The staff have been caring and kind throughout, looking after
her day and night. We are pleased to say that we are safe in the knowledge that this standard of care will continue. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.798)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.798) out of 10 for Wheathills House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.798 for Wheathills House is calculated as follows: ( (207 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 258 Ratings = 4.798
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wheathills House is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
