My Mum moved into Wheathills House as a permanent resident about a year ago and we have been very impressed by the kindness and dedicated professional care exhibited by the staff, who are all friendly and approachable. The home itself is lovely and very well looked after. It is not too big and maintains
a very personal, warm and welcoming feel, and Mum is very happy with the staff, her accommodation and the excellent food - while her family enjoys reassuring peace of mind.

My father has lived at Wheathills for a year now, after we realised we could no longer support our father safely at home. He had been receiving high quality care from family and professional carers and I wanted to be sure this continued when I realised we could not provide 24hours, safe care at home
any longer. I need not have worried. I can honestly say that everything has been excellent and I would recommend Wheathills to anyone. The whole team are professional, efficient and kind. They respect each resident as an individual, are good listeners and skilled a coping with sometimes difficult issues (My father has dementia). I am always made to feel welcome, and any problems, including health issues are bought to my attention. Dad's family and friends are able to visit including his greatgrandchildren and we can take him for trips out. Dad's dog has also been able to visit him in the garden, which has given him great pleasure. Wheathills House is a true home from home.

My Mum moved into Wheathills almost a year ago following a stay in hospital. Initially for respite and she decided to stay.
Wheathills was known to us as a relative had been a resident there 10 years ago. It was reassuring to see some of the staff still remained from that time.
The staff did everything
they could to make Mum welcome & comfortable. Little things like making sure there were crumpets for her breakfast meant such a lot.
The care she receives from staff is amazing.
She is treated at all times with respect & dignity & staff take time to chat and brighten her day.
The homecooked food is a pleasure for her - everything thoughtfully garnished & decorated to encourage her appetite.

Her room and communal areas are kept spotless and always feels fresh.
As a visitor I am always welcomed.

At home she had become lonely - we can see a huge difference in her demeanour - the sparkle is back! Thank you so much Wheathills

My Mum was finding living at home alone increasingly challenging and having gone through the pandemic, she was very lonely and in need of care and company. We always thought that Wheathills would be the place as Gran had spent her last years there and had been very happy and well cared for. Nevertheless,
we drew up a short list and looked at five other nice care homes, but as soon as we visited Wheathills, we knew this was the place for Mum. She settled there immediately and has been very happy there for the last two years. The standard of care is very high and all the staff are extremely efficient, caring and friendly with incredible levels of patience. My Mum's room is lovely with an en-suite wet room and a good telly. The cleanliness, hygiene and general maintenance are to the highest levels. Moreover, when Mum has suffered health challenges, the level of individual care and treatment has been impressive and reassuring. Mum continues to be happy, contented and safe.

My dear mum had been resident at Wheathills for 2 years. The warmth and care she received, from the moment we arrived, right to the end of her life was exceptional.
It is well led by the management and the care team are all absolutely brilliant. They are so patient, kind, compassionate and caring.

Every member of staff has a genuine interest in the residents and everyones individual needs are taken into account.
It is a lovely comfortable home, the home cooked food is delicious and the whole place is spotless.
Mum enjoyed the daily activities and the weekly visit from the hairdresser.
I was so grateful that mum was able to stay at Wheathills for end-of-life care. The continuity of care was so comforting and reassuring to both mum and myself.
It is a lovely atmosphere whenever you visit and everyone became like an extended family and friend to mum and myself.
The standard of care at Wheathills is truly exceptional. I can't praise them highly enough and would recommend them to anyone

Mum was a resident at Wheathills for almost 2 years. From her moving in the staff and management made her feel safe and welcome. It gave our family peace of mind knowing that she was happy to be there and was being well cared for. There is a lovely homely feel while still having the necessary facilities
for a care home. A good mix of activities we're available, mum particularly enjoyed the garden parties and having her hair and nails done.

Lovely, friendly and welcoming home. The carers, staff, cleaners and main team go out of their way to make my aunt comfortable. They also come and chat, her room is light and airy. My aunt enjoys the food which is set out nicely and home often smells of lovely baked goods. She is very happy here, and
I am very happy that we found Wheathills House.

My father has been a resident at Wheathills since the spring of 2025. We considered several places for him to live but we all knew the feeling at Wheathills was something special compared to other options from when we first visited. My father has settled in incredibly well to the homely environment,
the whole team is very friendly, professional and kind and my father has integrated well with the other residents too. The food is also super, all home cooked and fresh and there are regular activities and seasonal orientated events. It's very reassuring to feel that my father is in such safe hands. Thank you to all the team at Wheathills for your ongoing excellence.

First class care for my Mum by the friendly dedicated team 24/7 giving the family reassurance that she is safe and cared for. Mum is happy here as living at home is no longer an option. Good rooms, good food, attentive staff. It's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for. Mum has people to talk
to which is so important. She has her hair done every week, chiropodist visits regularly and the doctor comes frequently.

The care home is a lovely older Victorian building it has been extended and successfully renovated to modern standards, the service standards are very good and all staff are polite and respectful. The care home lacks outside spaces that are suitable for resident that want to enjoy some fresh air and
exercise in a safe and secure place, some light background music would also be nice for companionship.

Wheathills are an exceptional care home. All the staff take the time to get to know the residents and go above and beyond in their care. My father is not the easiest resident to look after and has some behavioural issues, again the staff have so much patience with him. I cannot fault them at all, the
standard of care is exceptional. The food is amazing my father constantly comments how good the food is and he can put in a request for a "fry up" for his breakfast the following morning and they will accommodate this. Again I think the staff and Wheathills are so good and it's such a brilliant nursing home I would heavily recommend anybody looking for a caring home from home for their loved one, to seriously look at Wheathills as they would get looked after and cared for extremely well.
Wheathills is the best thing that could have happened to my Dad. Thank you to all the staff you are exceptional.

Our dad has been a resident at Wheathills for just over two years now. In his 97th year, me and all my brothers and sisters are really pleased with everything about his care and stay there, especially as we know he isn't always the easiest of customers to deal with and remains in firm denial about his
age and abilities! The property feels more like a country house hotel with beautiful gardens and extensive views over the surrounding countryside but it is most definitely an efficient and effectively run, caring environment. Dad has shared how much he enjoys the food and drink and comments how well the place is managed. Nothing seems too much trouble whenever any of us make contact with the office team, which is every month as we take it in turns to come over and take him out for lunch, a drive or join him for a chat in the extensive conservatory. A huge thank you to all the team for keeping Dad safe and cared for.

Dad has been in Wheathills now for over two years, the staff are excellent and caring, nothing too much trouble, (not sure he fully appreciates how good his life is in there!)
The food is good and varied, it's a safe and harmonious home with plenty of interaction and events to occupy the residents,
and a lot of hard work put in by the team. No hesitation in recommending it to all I meet. Thanks.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.844)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.844) out of 10 for Wheathills House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 24 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.844 for Wheathills House is calculated as follows: ( (239 Excellents x 5) + (42 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 282 Ratings = 4.844
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wheathills House is based on 24 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 24 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
