Overall Experience
My brother suffers from vascular dementia and came to Landemere 18 months ago. At first, he struggled to settle but the kindness and patience of all the staff have helped him to feel very safe and comfortable. During Covid-19 the care has been excellent, with staff going above and beyond to keep residents safe and adhering to government guidelines whilst keeping relatives informed and, wherever possible, maintaining visits.
The staff have taken the time to get to know my brother and because of this, they can engage him in tasks that interest him and give him a glimpse of his life before dementia.

This care home has a very welcoming atmosphere, with bright rooms and corridors, small lounge areas to be with your relatives and large lounges to mix with other residents if you wish. A lovely care home.

Regarding food and drink, there is plenty of food but various things need attention, like lack of green vegetables ie: sprouts, carrots and broccoli and less mixed veg or swede. The bacon is inedible, causing waste which is a shame.

Reply from Louise Andrew, Manager at Landemere

Thank you for your review. We are pleased that you rate our overall standards as excellent and it was our pleasure to care for you. Green vegetables have recently been harder to source due to recent extreme weather conditions in Europe, however, we are assured that this will be quickly resolved. We will highlight your comments regarding our bacon to our catering team.

Being a short stay person, I have not met many residents but have been very well cared for by the carers. All are cheerful, helpful and do a fine job always willing to help. Medical care is important here and is given if needed. I have been very happy here and feeling at home, everyone here is helpful, cheerful and do a good job, much appreciated.

I am very happy for my mum to be in Landemere. She's happy there so I'm happy. The staff are brilliant there so I know she's always well cared for. She enjoys the bingo and domino sessions very much and hopefully, in the future they will enjoy the singing artists who used to come and entertain them.
Nothing is too much trouble from the staff here, however trivial it may be.

Thanks all.

My experience concerning my brother at Landemere has been excellent, he is always happy, clean and well-fed. The home is always spotlessly clean and the staff are always friendly, helpful and I am well informed about my brother's health.

My Nan has been a resident at Landemere care home since March 2016 where she has received the most outstanding care and made some truly wonderful friends in both residents and staff alike. The care home staff have become a second family to my Nan and her family. Sadly over the last month, my Nan’s health at 96 started to deteriorate so a decision was made for her to receive end of life care at Landemere where she would be surrounded by her family and the wonderful dedicated staff who knew her the best and in her own environment with all her own comforts around her. This decision was 100% the best thing and the last gift we could give her. Where do I start... the staff gave her dignity, comfort and such personal care often staying beyond their working hours, visiting her on days off and being the most wonderful support to her family at what is a very difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble and we her family were looked after so incredibly well. Thank you Landemere you're the best.

Dad has stayed here twice and both times he has been looked after exceptionally. He fell during his last visit and the staff took a lot of time and trouble to make sure he was comfortable and reassured while waiting for medical attention.

The care staff are excellent with all the residents. They have found time to help teach Mum to use the stick for the blind. The staff will always try to encourage Mum to participate in activities even though this is very hard with dementia. The staff have supported me as a visitor when upset and given me confidence in everything they do. I do hope you give the staff some feedback.
