Always a friendly greeting from staff. House is always warm and cosy. My mother-in-law has said how wonderfully she is looked after and always comments on her tasty food. Today is Friday and she says she can't wait for her fish and chips.

This is the best residential care home I have visited. My mum is very happy here and the owners and staff are excellent.
I can rest easy knowing my mum is getting 24-hour care for her needs and the friendliness and professionalism of the management are first-class. I would have no hesitation in recommending
Oakleigh Care Home to anyone.

My gran has been at Oakleigh care home for two years. Her appearance is always good as she seems to be happy when we visit; she is clearly well looked after. She has gained alot more weight since being at the home and looks well. Gran has never complained about the food that she eats, and after visiting
when she was eating her tea (the food looks good and smells lovely), there seemed to be a lot of choices catering for everyone's needs. All the staff are kind and very friendly towards us all, and the home itself looks clean and tidy. Whenever Gran needs any medicinal attention, the staff are always on hand to help and cater for all her needs, informing the family when required.

Residents all look well-kept and happy.
Staff very attentive.
The meals look lovely.

As I have power of attorney for our aunt - a resident at Oakleigh, I was responsible for finding a care home for her two years ago when she became unable to live alone. As a retired nursing home manager, I had a good knowledge of what to look for and what questions to ask. I visited a number of establishments
near to our aunt's home with the result being that Oakleigh was selected. Two years later, I know it was the right choice.
I cannot fault the standard of care. Staff are always professional, polite and person-centred. They also take safeguarding very seriously.
Our aunt is well cared for, care is taken with her appearance, her opinions are listened to and her wishes are acted upon. She is also happy with her meals.
I am contacted whenever necessary on aspects of her care and I am treated very well both by telephone and in a face-to-face situation.
This is a care home to be trusted and the manager, the owners and the staff do a splendid job. Thank you all.

Our grandma was left in an awful state upon their arrival to see her, the manager wouldn't call for an ambulance after being asked by my wife. My wife called for one, and on arrival to the hospital, she had severe dehydration and lithium toxicity, which left 6 hours she could have died. She hardly had
anything to eat/drink over 4 days, and to become severely dehydrated with no medical att in a care home isn't right. I am disgusted. This isn't the first time I've been unhappy. The owner spoke to my wife terribly on a phone call he had with her a year ago due to visits and other things. She was told “if not happy with the care take her elsewhere” Couldn't visit after 5 due to grandma wanting to go to her room and watch tv we couldn't see her after 5 even after restrictions had been stopped by the government. We took sweets to her but not given to her as they said they made her sick but it was her vertigo that made her sick! Her cd player has gone missing while being there. Think we were treated different to other people.

My mother was in Oakleigh for nearly four years, during this time, she was very well cared for, always dressed nicely and hair groomed. The manager, staff and owners were always on hand if anything was requested or needed. I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a place for a loved one. Nice
homely atmosphere and a good standard of food. A very clean and tidy place.

My father took a little time to settle in, but finally, management and staff have always been there to listen to any concerns he has. His room is clean, spacious and designed to relax during the day, where he likes to catch up with everything on his own TV. The staff are caring and friendly, and the
food is brought to my father in a timely manner. He looks relaxed, clean and content when I visit him. Whenever he has needed medical attention, this has been arranged promptly.

My grandmother came to Oakleigh after being unable to manage at home. Whilst there, she was treated with compassion and kindness. Her illness meant she needed a pureed diet, and the staff made sure her meals were not only nutritious but looked appetising and tasty. The staff were always welcoming, knowledgable
and friendly and treated my grandmother like family.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for Oakleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Oakleigh is calculated as follows: ( (342 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakleigh is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
