When I first visited Oakleigh I got a really happy feeling. The staff were very welcoming and friendly on that visit and that continues to this day.
The staff are extremely patient and caring and treat the residents in a kind and respectful manner.
They are always present in the lounge, chatting
with and assisting the residents.
They all seem to be genuinely happy in their jobs.
Anything you ask any member of staff is acted on straight away.
Mum has been encouraged from day one to join in activities such as dominoes,
jigsaws, baking and outdoor games which she has really enjoyed.
Mum's room is large and comfortable and is always exceptionally clean with no odours.
Mum is always kept personally clean, as are her clothes, which are chosen well.
The meals are varied, home cooked and smell appetising and Mum has not complained.
Every time I visit Mum I leave with a feeling that we are so lucky to have found Oakleigh and I know without doubt Mum is being very well cared for.

My Sister and I were reluctant to put Mum into care when she had been a capable, caring, independent person until last year when her dementia proved to be too much for us to cope with.
Having visited various local care homes we decided Oakleigh at Moira was our best option.
Since November 2017 Mum
has been resident there and we could not be more happy with the quality of the care she has received, all staff are very attentive, caring, courteous and help Mum to be happy and content.

Oakleigh Care Home provides an exceptional standard of care for our Mother who suffers from Alzheimer's.
Mum has been a resident at Oakleigh for several years now, and we are very pleased with the care and professional approach the staff have towards Mum and visiting family and friends.
All the family
would highly recommend Oakleigh to those looking for a home to care for a loved one.

Immediately you walk into Oakleigh there's a homely feel and pleasant smells! Spacious living areas and nice garden view conservatory.

Mum is adjusting to her new surroundings well and staff very supportive.
Her room is large and airy with refurbished carpet and curtains and a lovely outlook, plus

enough space to welcome some familiar personal belongings.
The housekeeping, bedding, personal laundry and ironing service, excellent with residents clean and all being appropriately dressed.
The staff are welcoming, very calm, showing much empathy towards the residents. The staff engage in conversation and seem to have a genuine interest in their jobs.

The home owners work hard and I see them on many occasions helping to maintain the home's facilities.
The care manager is very proactive, hands-on with the residents, and approachable to answer any niggling questions you may have. It is a very well run hands-on care home with great, caring staff, lovely food, comfortable atmosphere, offering a good service. Thank you.

After touring several local care homes in the area, I settled on Oakleigh for my Father who had Altzheimers, incontinence and could no longer be cared for at home. The care he received was exemplary and the staff treated him like a member of their own family. This was a great weight off my mind as I
lived 200 miles away. My Father lived at Oakleigh for 6 months before passing away peacefully. I rest easy knowing that I had been able to provide my Father with the best place to be for the last few months of his life.
The staff were always welcoming and supportive and I received regular updates and occasional photographs from the manager.

I would like to sincerely thank all the Staff and Management of the Oakleigh Home for the care and commitment they showed to my Mother while she was there. This particularly applied to the end of life care and consideration they gave to both Mum and the family. It was carried out extremely professionally
and courteously, with the provision of any medical assistance in place if required. We were given as much space and time we needed to both grieve and collect her personal effects. Thank you so much for that.
We visited our Mum very frequently and were always greeted in a friendly manner and kept informed of any concerns. The Staff showed a kindness and patience towards all the residents, in sometimes quite difficult circumstances, which I commend them for. Mum was always kept clean and tidy as was her room and the communal areas.
The Oakleigh is a very 'homely' Home and the biggest compliment is that our Mum was happy there, which meant that we were very happy too.
Thank you.

Both my mother and father were residents together at Oakleigh until my father passed away last September, my mother continues to reside there. My parents each required different care needs for which the staff attended to them both with a professional and friendly manner. The staff regularly participate
and get involved in talking with the residents and appear very familiar with them all. The communication with the home is good and any arrangements with GP or hospital visits are well managed. Myself and brother separately visit the home regularly and at varying times of the day and week and have always found all the staff being attentive to the residents' needs. The food always appears to be of a good quality and offers a varied menu over the week. The bedrooms are kept clean as is the general areas of the home, this reflects the service and facilities provided at Oakleigh by the excellent staff and manager. Greater group type external activities could be an area to develop if possible.

My Mother stayed here for over 3 years and I am very pleased with how she was looked after, I don't think she could have had better care. There have been 2 managers during this time, both with a strong caring approach that transmits itself to the staff. The staff have a genuine fondness for the residents,
and I have seen them deal with many challenging situations with patience and gentleness. My Mother related well to the staff and enjoyed their attention. The staff are very client focused.

My Mother was well cared for physically, the home has good links with the local GPs. She never had bedsores despite being fairly immobile for the last year of her life.

The environment is very pleasant, bright lounges nicely decorated, with a small conservatory.

The range of activities provided is limited, but there are outings to nearby restaurants, and religious services in the Home, as well as board games and some art activities, and possibly more in the mornings when I have never been.

The staff are very friendly and caring. Most are local people and have worked there for some considerable time. There is always a welcome when I visit and the atmosphere seems to be relaxed. Food is home-cooked and looks tasty. Some of the carpets are a little tired but mum's room is light and airy
with a pleasant view which she enjoys. Most of the residents have some form of dementia. Mum does not and this means that her socialising with other residents is sometimes a challenge. She has always been more than happy with her own company and chooses to spend most of her time in her room reading or listening to the radio.

I am so pleased with Oakleigh, it is such a warm welcoming atmosphere. I cannot fault the care mum receives. I feel that she is safe and well looked after. The staff are caring and supportive and try their very best to meet her needs. The manager and her staff work so hard to create a caring and supportive
environment. As her daughter, I get a really good feeling when I walk through door

This home has a welcoming atmosphere with friendly caring staff. There is no smell of urine in this home, unlike many others who care for this client group.
The clients are encouraged to join in activities to stimulate them, these are wide ranging from baking to dominoes to trips out for those who
are able.
The staff communicate well with relatives to keep them up to date with relevant information.
The meals are home cooked and varied and look appetising.
The staff work well as a cohesive team under excellent managerial leadership.

My father in law has now lived at Oakleigh for over two years. He is happy and settled and extremely well cared for. All the family are very happy with the standard of care he receives. He is always clean and well dressed, he is given choices where appropriate, and is cared for in a respectful and caring
manner. He is treated as an individual and is encouraged to participate in activities. The home is always clean and fresh and the food is home cooked, nutritious and tempting. The staff are cheerful, friendly, caring, knowledgeable and welcoming. They are very approachable and act immediately on any issues raised. His room is spacious, light and comfortable. The managers communicate well and always telephone to give necessary information about medical appointments etc. This is an excellent care home.

From the day of arrival, my father was welcomed into Oakleigh with kindness, respect and care.
This continues.
All the staff are very friendly and are very professional in their care of the elderly.
The residents are happy and always well dressed.
If I need to ask a question regarding Dad a staff
member or manageress is always available for a chat.
Nothing is too much trouble.
We, as a family, were recommended to Oakleigh by two families who had their parents at the home.
We feel very lucky to have found Oakleigh when having to make that decision regarding Dad's health and welfare.
I would not hesitate to recommend Oakleigh.

Oakleigh is a fantastic home. My Mum lived there for over 4 years and has recently passed away. The owners care about the home and provide a lovely environment and excellent staff. Nothing is too much trouble. The manager runs the home brilliantly and the carers are very good, kind, caring and respectful
to all of the residents and relatives. It has a lovely homely feel to the home and it is always really clean and smells nice. The other residents always look well cared for and contented. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The food always looked nice too.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.950)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.950) out of 10 for Oakleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.950 for Oakleigh is calculated as follows: ( (342 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.95
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Oakleigh is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
