A very friendly care home with excellent staff and a high standard of care. In addition, a fair cost.

My grandmother came to Oakleigh after being unable to manage at home. Whilst there, she was treated with compassion and kindness. Her illness meant she needed a pureed diet, and the staff made sure her meals were not only nutritious but looked appetising and tasty. The staff were always welcoming, knowledgable and friendly and treated my grandmother like family.

Mum entered Oakleigh, and her improvement has come on 100%. Her contained care has also improved, the staff are excellent at their jobs - ask them anything, it's not a problem for them.

Our mother has been a resident at Oakleigh for two years now. She settled well and is comfortable and content. All the staff are lovely and look after the residents with real care. The small number of residents means that everyone feels very friendly.

Mum only stayed at Oakleigh for a few weeks but those last weeks meant she sat in the sunshine, laughing and eating ice creams instead of being at home ill, lonely and afraid. I can't thank Oakleigh enough for everything they did to make Mum's last few weeks happy and comfortable.

Overall Experience

We came to visit mum in February after being told mum was too poorly for visit to find her covered in vomit, slumped in a chair, lips very swollen and sore. We asked the manageress to call an ambulance she declined, told us to wait for a ring back. Apparently, it was her usual episode of vertigo. This was different so finally, we took it into our own hands. I knew mum was dehydrated. I asked a care member. She said she wasn’t medically trained to spot this. The ambulance came, the paramedic thought she had had a stroke and was shocked an ambulance hadn’t been called before. Mum was rushed to the hospital with severe dehydration and lithium toxicity. Both hospital and paramedic put a complaint to the CQC. Absolute, neglect wouldn’t recommend. We couldn’t visit when we wanted. Also, they stopped mums sweets and chocolate with no valid reason as she wasn’t diabetic. Took money monthly off us with no receipts for what the money had been used for. The home is not a place I would recommend.

My grandma was left in there with severe dehydration for days but the manager wasn't bothered. Me and my mum had to call an ambulance as she wanted to leave her until the doctor arrived which could have taken just 6 hours for a ring back. She wasn't with it, being sick, and confused, and the manager was funny with us because we wanted to call an ambulance. When arriving at the hospital they said she had lithium toxicity caused by severe dehydration. Lucky me and my mum were there to call 999 as the hospital said left any longer she would have been in a coma or died! I wouldn't trust the manager with my pet cat let alone a care home. All the residents that are in there that haven't got relations, god help them! The manager/owner took £60 every 5 or so weeks and we never got receipts for what she spent! Stopped my grandma having sweet treats, not sure where all the ones I took went. Still wasn't allowed to visit in her room so couldn't see her after 5 when I finish work as she liked to go up to her room and watch TV.

My mother came here in November 2022. Since she has been here, there has been a big change in Mum for the better. Her family can rest assured knowing Mum is getting all the care and attention she needs. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
