My mum was in this care home for 6 months from 28 March to 16 September 2017 at which point I decided to move her out due to being concerned at the level of care she was receiving and the poor environment on the dementia floor. She spent her first couple of months of residency downstairs (which was a more pleasant environment) and was then moved due to several falls and the home saying she needed to be upstairs.

When I moved her out of this care home on 16th September 2017 she had lost several kilos in weight, had UTI and severe constipation, looked generally unkempt and appeared to be withdrawing further into her dementia.

At the start of mum's stay with this care home I felt I had made the right choice of home for her but by the end of the 6 months, I felt it was a case of profit over people at this care home.

Some of the staff were lovely and I felt doing the best they could in a difficult situation ie: trying to care for too many residents.

My brother was well cared for whilst with you, he seemed happy and he only got upset just before he went into hospital, he was frightened and this was recognised by staff and comfort was given, most of the staff thought a lot of him and did their best for him.
I do think the home needs updating, new windows etc... and could sometimes have been cleaner but the staff have a lot to deal with.
Drinks were always an issue and I could never be sure if sufficient liquid was consumed, sometimes my brother seemed extremely thirsty.

Overall he was well looked after.

My wife's aunt, who had dementia went to The Rowans when her late husband went into hosptial and died. The Rowans is very well run, with a friendly, helpful and willing staff. Whenever we call the home, the staff that we speak to are always happy and answer any questions. The range of activities was excellent. The aunt was very contented at The Rowans.

From my first visit to view The Rowans as a care home for my mother. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was easy for my father and other members of the family to visit. The care given to my mother in the last months of her life was kind and friendly.

My mother was cared for at The Rowans Care Home until she sadly died aged 95. The home was always very clean and lovely and warm. The management and staff were exceptional. They always treated mum with dignity and care. We visited a lot and they always made us feel very welcome and they made a lovely cup of tea!

My mum was transferred to The Rowans in Coalville in May 2016 from another home which closed. From the day my mother moved in, the staff were brilliant. From the manager down, they all welcomed my mum and did their best to make her feel welcome and at home.
My mum aged 96, wasn't easy to care for, refusing all attempts to get her to integrate with the other residents. But respecting my mum's wishes, they cared for her within the confines of her room which was comfortable and always clean.

My mum's health deteriorated during the following months, sadly passing away on the 3rd January 2017. During this time mum received continual care, someone being present with her almost continually. I can not thank them or praise them enough. I live 25 miles from the home, but they kept me constantly updated on mums condition. When mum passed away, I received sensitive comforting from the staff. I know they did all they could to ensure my mums comfort during her time there. Thank you.

Well done to all the team looking after nana at The Rowans, the team were so efficient in looking after her and nothing was too much for them, even at the time of passing, the staff were so helpful and sympathetic, the careers and all staff (even the ones you don't see) all make the difference in providing care and dignity to loved ones.
I would certainly recommend this facility to others. Keep up the good work, you all deserve the recognition for all the hard work and care you provide!

Well done. Hope you enjoyed the chocolates, flowers and thank you card for your efforts.

I have been at The Rowans for eight years so that the length of time bears all the points to a good home. The present manager is the best we have had while I have been here, may this set up last for a long time. Some of us went to Staunton Harold in the mini bus which was organised by our manager, and we had a grand time.

I stayed at The Rowans Care Home for 1 weeks respite care and experienced, at first hand, the attentive care and consideration shown by management and staff towards the residents, who were always treated with dignity and understanding. If I had any questions or requests the manager, deputy manager or administrator were accessible and helpful, as indeed were all the staff.

The overall atmosphere was light and welcoming, with no depressing undertones and this was also complemented by the light and bright décor. The food and drink which was offered frequently was also excellent. This was my first venture into a care home and it was a positive experience at The Rowans.

My wife has been here for initial respite care for 4 weeks. This has now become permanent. Before deciding on The Rowans I visited the CQC site which gave a good rating in all areas. I visited there on 3 occasions - before my wife commenced her stay. The care home is ran extremely well. The staff are friendly, helpful, considerate and empathise with residents. Activities are run daily! The meals are excellent. The rooms, lounges are well furnished and the bedroom is made and of reasonable size with wash basin and sink. I feel we've made the right choice in choosing this care home.
