Abbey House

My mother is a resident and often suffers with pain in her face. Recently she was quite poorly and the staff have been wonderful with her. They encourage her to eat when she hasn't felt like it. They know her well now and recognise when she isn't quite herself. The staff always keep me informed when my mum is off colour also.

Very friendly and competent staff who have coped exceptionally well during this difficult time.

This is a very caring home and during this pandemic, the staff have outdone themselves, keeping the family informed with regular updates and photos. A special thanks to the entertainment lady she has come up with varied and brilliant ideas. What a great social life the clients have received. Well done to all the staff for being there when we couldn't.

Because of COVID-19 it has been difficult for us to make a proper assessment of Abbey House. We have not been able to go inside the building or see my brother-in-law in his room. However, we have had many phone conversations with him and he is clearly very happy and settled since he arrived there is 2020. The staff seem to have an excellent relationship with him. They have been most helpful to us in phone conversations and clearly have his best interests at heart.

Mum reached the point of needing residential care during the covid-19 pandemic restrictions. This meant that the family were unable to settle her into her new environment. We were very pleased with the way the lovely staff at Abbey House welcomed her, sorted everything and helped her to feel at home. Following subsequent hospital visits, mum smiled her appreciation at returning to her new home, despite her communication difficulties. These difficulties have made it hard for her to keep in touch with the family under present conditions, but staff have helped with this and are always happy to take a call or give an update. There have been some memorable touches such as organising an anniversary card for her husband, and a beautiful handmade Christmas card. We are confident that mum is well-cared-for and happy and would highly recommend Abbey House and the lovely staff.

My aunt was resident at Abbey House from February 2019 until she passed away in August 2020. The care and kindness she received from the staff was amazing. She was a difficult lady at times due to her illness but the staff were so patient and understanding and took time to understand her likes and dislikes and to make it interesting for her. I cannot thank them enough.

Very pleased with all aspects of the home. I feel my mother is very safe and well cared for. Staff are friendly and approachable.

I think Abbey House is very good. They have looked after my neighbour for five weeks and treated her very well. The staff are so friendly and you couldn't wish for a better service. The meals are excellent and the cleanliness is top drawer. The manager is excellent, very pleasant, caring and has got time for you.

Again my massive thanks to the staff knowing she was with people that cared and not alone.

Carers very kind and helpful but I was only a respite resident and don't suffer with dementia so I consider I was treated a little differently.

It’s been such a pleasure to see my friend go from strength to strength and I am so grateful to all of the staff at abbey house for getting her back to her old self.

The manager and care workers are brilliant with my mother and others on observing. We visit my mother between all the family at least once a day. We visit at all different times and we have had no concerns. The cleaning is ongoing and my mother's room always looks clean and tidy. The home respect and they encourage.

This care home is a well-run establishment. All the residents seem happy, contented and well fed. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and the residents are kept entertained and as active as possible. The facilities are very good given the age of the building. All in all, a very well run care home which is a credit to the Manager.

The cleaning here is excellent and the staff are so welcoming when I do come to visit my grandma. Thank you for all the hard work all of the staff here do and God bless all of you. Thank you so very much.

It is a pleasure to visit the home. The staff are wonderful. They do lots of things for the residents like doing plays and having parties.

My mum was only there a short while before she died. You could not wish for better care. Thank you.
