Michaela is the Head of Care at Digby Court, she has over 8 years of experience in the care industry.
Michaela joined the Trust in 2021 after relocating to Lincolnshire from Rutland, where she worked in a care home for 5 years. She worked her way up from Care Assistant to Senior Care Assistant in just under a year. Whilst also gaining her NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care.
Michaela joined the Trust as a Night Lead, and after just a few months she moved up to the Head of Care role. Michaela is currently the Medication Lead for Digby Court and is undergoing training to become a Safeguarding Ambassador as she wants to empower both staff and the residents. She has just been enrolled to undergo her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, striving to complete this by 2024.
Michaela realised her passion for care when she studied Nursing, Michaela decided to leave the course in year 2 as she felt that not enough time was given to patients. She said: “I enjoy working in a care home setting as the residents become family. We get to know them, and they get to know us. This includes their loved ones who visit too. Growing up I experienced my grandma living with Alzheimer's and she lived in a care home. I just want to do my best to see all residents have that family feel when under our care.”
In Michaela's spare time, she likes to do arts and crafts, making scrabble boards and doing jigsaws. She has a house rabbit called Bob who she absolutely adores and is hoping to soon bring him in to meet the family at Digby Court.
Fay is Digby Court's Administration Assistant.
Fay started her working career in Peebles, Scotland in a family-run department store, from there she moved to Germany and worked for the RAF. After she returned from Germany, Fay worked at Doncaster College, Interflora, and Supported Housing before embarking on her career with the OSJCT here at Digby Court.
We asked Fay what she likes about working in the care industry, and here's what she said, "I enjoy my role here at Digby Court as Admin. My office is situated at the front of reception, and I am usually the first person any visitors see, so I try really hard to be upbeat and friendly but professional at all times. I enjoy the day-to-day work that comes under my remit, but what is the absolute best thing about working here is the residents. I could never care, and I take my hat off to those that do. Furthermore, I get to spend time and interact with all residents on a daily basis, and they always bring a smile to my face, it is my biggest joy in work."
