Review from Andrew M (Son of Resident) published on 10 March 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My mum Julie unfortunately suffered from dementia and was a resident at The Old Hall for the last four years of her life. During this whole time, she received excellent care from all of the staff and I can't recommend The Old Hall highly enough.

The team there focus on what really matters, which is caring for your loved one, and making there life as happy and involving as possible. They are all so dedicated and friendly, and are happy to stop what they are doing and take time out with you to discuss your relative. Mum really did have the best life possible with her dementia living there, and I will be forever grateful for the wonderful care she received.

Very first day my impression was that the home was very friendly, warm and welcoming. All of the staff were very accommodating regarding advice and supportive if I need it regarding my partner. All the residents seemed happy and calm obviously down to the daily care they receive. Very well run home.

Review from Susan F (Daughter-in-law of Resident) published on 11 November 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was a resident briefly in April 2025, the care was excellent and the staff were lovely and friendly. We were hoping she would stay full-time but she was determined to return home. When her health declined rapidly several months later, she returned to the Old Hall, as we knew she would receive the best care for however long she had left. This turned out to be just a few days. Diane and all the staff were amazing at helping us too, with what to expect and how to deal with and arrange the subsequent funeral. They showed dignity and caring in dealing with my mother-in-law and ourselves at such a difficult time.

Thank you Susan for your kind words. It was a pleasure to care for your mum in law just a shame we didn't have very long with her. I am pleased we were some comfort to you and your family at that sad time.

Overall Experience

My mother-in-law was a resident at The Old Hall for the last 5 months of her life and she received wonderful care from all the staff. I cannot praise them enough - they were caring, attentive and compassionate and always cheerful and willing to chat about mother-in-law no matter how busy they were. Mother-in-law had a lovely room with en suite and everything was spotlessly clean. And the food always smelled delicious too! Plenty of activities for those who wanted to join in. The staff seem like one big happy family and that makes so much difference - and it's obvious they all really care about the residents. As my mother-in-law declined they told us what to expect at each stage and that was really helpful. And right at the end their dedication was outstanding. We can't thank them enough.

Review from C K (Power of Attorney of Resident) published on 14 January 2025 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

Myself, and another lady, had Lasting Power of Attorney for one of the residents at The Old Hall from January 2024 until his death in December 2024. During this time the gentleman was treated with the utmost courtesy, professionalism, dignity and with respect. We, ourselves, were always made very welcome and someone was always available to update us on the gentleman's condition, health status etc, even during non-office hours. During the last few days of his life, we were always kept up to date, and made welcome on our visits. Our friend was usually accompanied in his room during this time by at least one member of staff, to comfort him and reassurance. It is our opinion that the treatment he received at The Old Hall went above and beyond. Thank you to everyone there.

My mother-in-law went into the home in May 2023 with dementia. She was warmly welcomed as well as us her family. Staff feel part of the family and the manager is very approachable. My father-in-law is welcomed with open arms and are very supportive. My mother-in-law is always happy and we don't get much out of her but she always says it's her home, and that tells us she is cared for.

The home is in a lovely area of Lincolnshire, with beautiful countryside on all sides. The bedroom was warm and bright. The communal areas are clean with attentive staff to undertake activities and care.

From the first moment my mum came to The Old Hall, she has received the best care and attention we could possibly wish for. All the staff were supportive of our mum and our family as a whole. Mum quickly progressed to end of life and the home kept us informed of her condition throughout. Due to their continued vigilance and experience, we were able to be with her at the end. We will be forever grateful for the level of care Mum received. We spent many hours outside of normal visiting hours and we saw first-hand the care and attention given to other residents in a happy and secure care home.

Overall Experience

So where to begin on this review? Well from the very first day that my mother-in-law became a resident in December 2021, we have been totally overwhelmed with the love, care and support that she has received from all the staff. They are all very professional and very dedicated to giving a 100% at all times. We have always been kept up to date on her care and wellbeing and the work that they have put into looking after her, has been totally amazing. She was not at her best when she went into the home but with the very best care and attention, she has become a new person - the person we have always loved and to see her back to her normal happy self is absolutely wonderful. We visit often and to see her so relaxed and happy and to know she is safe and receiving the utmost care makes us feel very happy. To summarise, it’s a home from home feeling that is made so special by all the staff, who go beyond their duties to ensure all their residents are happy and receive first class care at all times.

Overall Experience

This care home lost two-thirds of residents during covid. The standard of care is poor and the staff are unsupervised during weekends and after 4.30 pm. There is only a wifi connection for phone calls so if your loved one is in the wrong place, poor connectivity. My parent was able to leave twice without the staff noticing. Cut mum's hair short because it's easier for them to manage. Didn't initially provide mum with sanitary wear despite being incontinent. On visiting found parent in a state of undress. Looked for clean underwear and clean trousers. This is when came to light no sanitary were available. When asked where parent's clean clothes were, was told the washing machine had broken for two weeks. Several complaints have been made to the CQC with the result being met with the threat of a 28-day notice to leave. Despite reports to social services, nothing was done. Unfortunately no Lasting Power of Attorney in place so unable to remove my parent from this hovel.

Reply from Diane Vale, Manager at The Old Hall Residential Care Home

This lady was admitted as an emergency due to concerns regarding her welfare. These allegations have been thoroughly investigated by CQC, Safeguarding, LCC, MP and advocate and all allegations were unfounded. The daughter has been threatening and abusive towards staff and others resulting in further action being taken.

Dad came into respite care barely able to walk and generally very unhappy. He left 8 weeks later without needing any assistance and back to his old self, thanks to the excellent care support and the general professionalism of all staff and facilities. Could not recommend it highly enough.

The Old Hall is located down a quiet country road, with a pleasant entrance, and always a happy welcome. It has a lovely patio seating area and peaceful lawned grounds all enjoyed by the residents, it’s homely clean and a happy place. The Manager is always so caring and reassuring and makes you feel confident with the loving care that’s provided to mum. The team of staff all support and deliver great care to mum. There are activities ie crafting, singing, flower arranging, bingo, afternoon teas etc with tea always available. Mum is in a place where she can talk any worries away at any time. The staff listen to her and reassure her keeping her happy and safe, ensuring her mental and physical wellbeing are provided for.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at The Old Hall. Our mum became a resident at the home only shortly before the Coronavirus lockdown and we were fortunate that she became a resident when she did. Only about two weeks or so after she moved in, a good proportion of the staff moved into the home and locked themselves down with the residents. We are incredibly impressed with the dedication and devotion of all the staff and cannot thank them enough for all the care they have given to protect Mum and keep her from harm during this terrible period.

The quality of care in the home is exceptional and it has a wonderful homely feel. Mum is much happier than she has been in some time.

My mum has never been happier in a care home. The staff are absolutely wonderful, kind, understanding, my mum is a very fussy eater but absolutely loves the food. I enjoyed Christmas Day lunch at the home with mum, and it was a fantastic day. The residents are provided with love and care, and every day is filled with activities to stimulate her mind and body. Regular parties and singers, even ponies visiting. The home is in excellent repair with lovely big reception rooms and bedrooms are of a good size with en-suites. During this awful time of the Coronavirus, the manager and staff made the selfless decision to move into the home, away from their families for many weeks, to ensure that my mum and every single resident stay as safe as possible as they can. I personally don't know how to thank them, they are true angels and I am so pleased my mum resides at The Old Hall. Thank you, everyone.
