My mother in law is a new resident to this care home, she has also suffered a recent bereavement.
She has been treated with care and dignity.
I am also impressed with how the home and staff have made us feel welcome as a family not just my mother in law.

Everyone is so kind and friendly with a lovely warm atmosphere in the home.

We always find it a happy place and staff engage well with residents and visitors. Management are ready to listen to any concerns and will resolve any misunderstandings, reassure the residents and with genuine care and concern, sit and explain things. There appears to be a managed plan for refurbishment.

We never ever thought we would have to put our father into a care home, and it is one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. The Head carer came to assess my father. She was smart, professional and warm (as the home turned out to be.) She talked to my father, not about him - this impressed us immensely. She also comforted my mother. We were so pleased dad was accepted and have not changed our minds one little bit. The staff are friendly and polite to residents, respecting their dignity and also visitors. Mum can join in with activities or have meals when she is there, so she does not feel she has lost Dad. Most important of all, they genuinely care for and give care to my father, whilst still making him as independent as possible. There is a feeling of camaraderie about the place, The building itself is inviting, walls displaying residents' achievements, plenty of photographs. The food is varied, good and plentiful. AND they serve the best fish and chips in town!

During the time my mother was with St Johns, they have shown care, consideration and a high quality of service for the needs of my mother in her final months and days. A big thank you to all the staff for her daily needs and management system that kept us informed all the way.

Prior to this her previous 2 years were excellent and she was a very happy lady.

I cannot fault the care given to my mum throughout her short stay at Skirbeck Court. She very sadly passed away but all the staff gave 100% nothing was too much trouble. They also found time in their busy day to take time to answer any questions or worries we had. I have no hesitation in recommending this care home to anybody, I had previously been very wary of care homes but I would advise anybody to go and see for yourself that this is a very good one and I am extremely grateful to them.

My uncle moved into Skirbeck Court a couple of months ago. Since he's been there I have been very impressed by absolutely everything. The building, layout, décor etc are second to none. The quality of care is outstanding, nothing is too much trouble. My uncle has settled in very well, you would of thought he'd been there years. The events and activities that are put on, are so varied and frequent. The way in which Skirbeck court was decorated at Christmas was just stunning. I would certainly recommend Skirbeck Court to anyone and thank them for everything whole heartedly. Like it was recommended to us.

My husband was ill and discharged from hospital. The objective of his three week stay at Skirbeck was to improve his mental and physical health with care he received. I was very grateful for the help advice and care given to me as his wife/carer. I was in a very distressed state with the situation. The managers particularly were there and aware of my needs also. Nothing was too much trouble to all the grades of carers.

I can only recommend the staff at Skirbeck Court, they are attentive and caring and I have also had support and advice when my mother has had difficult times. The rooms are a little dated but since the new manager has taken over the place has been getting a well deserved face lift. I can only give them a 10 out of 10 and would recommend them to anyone looking for a care home for a relative.

I was very impressed with the care taken when my mum fell in the home and broke her arm. Unfortunately I was on holiday at the time but the care home notified my daughter of the situation. The care home took responsibility of contacting doctors, arranging transport and assistance to the local hospital as well as extra care on returning back to the nursing home regarding dressing and feeding.

Naomi Bender
Naomi BenderJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

My Name is Naomi, I have been working in the care industry for over 20 years, I started working in care homes as an after school job in a kitchen, washing up after tea and I then started doing care shifts to help out and on weekends, it was then, that I found who I am.

Care for me has never been just a job, it is a vocation, something that I am truly passionate about. I have worked in most roles within the care home environments throughout Boston, Essex and Suffolk and in 2012 I qualified as a Nurse and returned to care homes in Essex and Suffolk, working my way through the ranks as a Nurse, then as a senior nurse, I then spent 8 years as a Deputy Manager, before moving back up to Lincolnshire. I have worked for several different care providers over the last 20 years including 3 large providers in the South of England before starting my Journey with OSJCT.

I joined OSJCT because their values align with my own, and I am looking forward to making a difference in the lives of the residents in my care. Over the course of my career, I have developed a real passion for end of life care and dementia care and really enjoy making a difference to people’s lives. Sometimes that difference can be as small as making someone smile when they’re having a bad day, or as big as being able to go paddle in the sea, or to go see a show.

If you were thinking about joining care, I would tell you it is hard work but very rewarding. Every day is different, and the little moments can really make a big impact for those living and working in care. I had lots of different jobs before care and this is by far the best.
