My mother has been a resident here for 3 years. The staff have always been respectful to her and very supportive of me. If they have any health concerns they never hesitate to contact her GP, sadly mums condition hs altered significantly. She has since been assessed and now requires nursing care. I am very sad that she has to leave Skirbeck Court.

What a wonderful happy home this is. All staff are friendly, helpful and happy. Food is very good. Good variation of meals and nicely presented.

This has got to be the nicest care home I've ever been to. I've already recommended this home to several people.

I found the carers cheerful and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Very friendly. A lovely, happy atmosphere. Residents seem content. My first impression was there was no care home "smell"!. I feel my mother is really happy there and has become more social since being there.

Review from Jennifer W (Sister of Resident) published on 15 June 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My sister's days are well structured with set mealtimes in the dining room with nutritional and varied meals cooked on site. There are many organised activities - bingo, quizzes, church services, visiting vocalists, etc. The enclosed gardens give fresh air and a place to enjoy flowers, seating, vegetable patch, birds and squirrels. Although small, rooms are clean with towels changed daily. There is a good laundry service. Above all, the staff are caring with a sense of humour. They are aware of the varied needs of residents and deal with any problems sympathetically.

My brother and his wife were both in Skirbeck Court. They are cared for really well. The staff are very good. The food is good with a good choice. I have always found the home very clean and comfortable. They try to make it a home from home. Well done for all who work there.

Skirbeck Court is a very friendly and homely home. Everyone is always welcoming. All the staff are kind, caring and give respect to my Mum. This is always good for me to see as a daughter (being an only one). The staff always have time to have a chat to my Mum and also to myself, when you have no choice but to have your Mum in care. In Mum's care, because of dementia, it really means so much. I really do have all confidence. They all will give my Mum the best care when things changed, and I couldn't carry on giving Mum the care I had done, for some years in the past.

All the staff, from kitchen, housekeeping, maintenance, carers, office and manager, provide excellent care and service to all the residents of Skirbeck Court. Special praise for the Activities Coordinator, who provides varied and fun sessions. I would not want my mother to be cared for anywhere else. Such confidence in Skirbeck Court.

I am more than happy with the care my mother in law received. The staff are very attentive and caring and go beyond what is required to ensure that all the residents consider Skirbeck Court to be their home and not just where they are staying. They are treated with dignity and compassion. The food is 1st class and the place itself is spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend. 5 stars.

My mother who has been a resident in Skirbeck Court for over 6 years has received throughout this time an excellent level of care. As I live a considerable distance away I have had a real peace of mind that she is being well looked after and receiving a level of care according to her increasing needs. It is friendly, professional in its care that is carried out to a high standard where despite difficult circumstances at times, nothing is too much trouble.

My friend has resided at this care home for almost 2 years and I have always found the staff friendly towards both residents and other staff members. The manager and assistant manager are both very approachable and put the needs of the resident first and foremost every time. They provide lots of activities for the residents which they encourage all residents to take part in but also respecting their wishes if they decline. The home is always clean and tidy and well presented. The excellent care staff do everything possible to ensure that all residents are well cared for and everyone works as a team. Excellent cleaning and administration staff. I would highly recommend this home to anyone.

A very positive experience for me and especially for my dad at what has been a difficult time.
I am of the opinion that the staff are very well motivated and make every effort on behalf of the residents.

Consequently, I personally rate this as one of the best care homes in Boston.

Skirbeck Court have provided excellent care for my father who has just passed away at the age of 90 after two years in the home. All the staff were very caring and patient with him.
My mum is still in the care home being there for four years. If it wasn't for the love of the staff she would not still be alive.

They help her with all needs and encourage her to join in all the activities. I would recommend this care home to everybody.

I've been a resident of Skirbeck Court since May 2016.
My room is comfortable and personal items make it feel more like home.
Personal care (ie baths) is very good.
All members of staff are very caring but very overworked so their time to spend with residents is very limited.
However busy staff are, they always find time to be sociable and friendly.

I find the food adequate/good but a larger menu choice would be welcome.

Naomi Bender
Naomi BenderJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2025

My Name is Naomi, I have been working in the care industry for over 20 years, I started working in care homes as an after school job in a kitchen, washing up after tea and I then started doing care shifts to help out and on weekends, it was then, that I found who I am.

Care for me has never been just a job, it is a vocation, something that I am truly passionate about. I have worked in most roles within the care home environments throughout Boston, Essex and Suffolk and in 2012 I qualified as a Nurse and returned to care homes in Essex and Suffolk, working my way through the ranks as a Nurse, then as a senior nurse, I then spent 8 years as a Deputy Manager, before moving back up to Lincolnshire. I have worked for several different care providers over the last 20 years including 3 large providers in the South of England before starting my Journey with OSJCT.

I joined OSJCT because their values align with my own, and I am looking forward to making a difference in the lives of the residents in my care. Over the course of my career, I have developed a real passion for end of life care and dementia care and really enjoy making a difference to people’s lives. Sometimes that difference can be as small as making someone smile when they’re having a bad day, or as big as being able to go paddle in the sea, or to go see a show.

If you were thinking about joining care, I would tell you it is hard work but very rewarding. Every day is different, and the little moments can really make a big impact for those living and working in care. I had lots of different jobs before care and this is by far the best.
