Oak Lodge Care Home

My Grandma has lived at Oak Lodge Care Centre since September 2021 and has been extremely welcomed and has settled in very well. This was the 3rd care home she had been in in a year and by far the best. I can definitely relax now I know she is being well looked after. As a family, we are kept up to date with covid procedures and protocols and I feel that my grandma is being kept very safe. There is lots of daily activities that she can join in and encouraged to join in with as well, the best bit is being able to see her joining in daily on social media. Since being there my Grandma is always dressed immaculately with her hair and nails done and I feel is being well looked after. The only negative I feel that sometimes her room is untidy with laundry not put away or the floor hoovered. Overall I am extremely pleased with the care my Grandma is receiving. Thank you to all the staff and management at Oaklodge.

Mum became a resident in November 2021, following a weeks trial visit beforehand. Her dementia diagnosis reached a point whereby the family felt that despite excellent care at home, she would be safer in a setting with 24-hour care and the company of others. Mum agreed to this but did waiver in the build-up to the move. I was able to settle her into the home and get her very pleasant room set up to include treasured belongings and keepsakes. Unfortunately, Covid has meant that visits and indeed visitors have intermittently been limited, but with each successive visit, I have personally noticed an improvement in Mums temperament and wellbeing. She enjoys the food, has joined in with various activities (including exercises, crafting and cooking) and enjoys warm relations and good-humoured banter with staff. Sometimes it is difficult to get through by phone but the Manager promptly responds to emails. It’s a relief to us all to know that Mum is happy.

My father moved into Oak Lodge Care Home summer of 2021, he settled in well, I’ve visited most weeks since and have found the staff helpful and attentive. I’m welcomed every visit and find my father in good spirits. I find the contact between the home and myself when he has problems like a fall are excellent and continue to feel as much a part of my fathers care. Friendly, helpful and kept clean.

My wife has been at Oak Lodge for three months now, and prior to her moving in, I spent hours searching for a suitable home for her. I chose Oak House, and I am so pleased I did; it is just what I was hoping to find, it is a perfect place for her needs. This is a perfect opportunity to thank the whole staff for the care a dedication they freely give to my wife. I am also impressed with their willingness to keep relatives up to date with her care. I know my wife is happy here, and that makes me very happy too.

Can't thank the care home enough for their care and dedication, not just for my mum, but towards us also. They are always helpful and try to keep everyone upbeat. They are very sympathetic to both the needs of Mum as the resident and us as relatives. They try very hard and seem to build genuine relationships with the residents. To say they create a safe environment and a home from home is all we want and ask as consumers.

It took a while for Dad to settle in, but he is doing so well now. He looks really well and is finding his feet and his place. The relief of having him so well cared for is enormous.

The staff are very kind to me and make me feel very comfortable.

I am a resident and I enjoy the food, it is excellent. We are very comfortable and we do many activities like artwork and handcrafts which helps to pass the time. And I enjoy living here.

In the two years my husband has lived at Oak Lodge, first for a few weeks respite. He settled, happy with his surroundings and care. When his home circumstances changed, he stayed at Oak Lodge as a permanent resident. His family was happy with the situation as was the management. May I say on behalf of the family, many thanks for the excellent care.

I can't fault the care given to my mum while she was a resident. Everyone showed her love and dignity. Absolutely superb. Prior to her becoming a resident, the staff helped me to negotiate with social services and the local financing team. During mum's last week of life, I felt as cared for as her. Staff looked after us both with love, care, compassion and dignity. Thank you!

I can fully recommend Oak Lodge. My mother spent 18 years in the home and the last months the home treated her with great dignity and went out of their way to give extra care in her last moments.

Friendly staff, very competent in the care of the residents. All resident's needs are catered for.

Residents needs attended to as and when required. More activities could be provided. On the whole, I am very satisfied with the level of care and attention given to my stepmother.

I feel confident that my father is being well cared for and all his needs are being met by the manager and her team.

My sister and brother-in-law were going on holiday on the 98th birthday of my brother-in-law's mother, so I offered to visit her that day. I have visited lots of care homes in my time and there has always been a smell. This home is bright, clean and no smells. The residents in the lounge all appeared clean and happy. The resident I visited looked so well and contented, it made me so happy as a few months ago, prior to being here, was going downhill rapidly. I cannot tick all the boxes below, as I only experienced some but I intend to visit again.

On visiting a dear family friend, on each occasion, I have found him to be happy, comfortable and content. He always looks clean and tidy and nicely dressed. As a result, I can come home from a visit feeling satisfied that he is being well looked after.

This care home is more like a small hotel; clean and spotless. The carers have gone out of their way to make my mother at home. So far, I cannot fault this establishment.
