My Mum has been a resident at The Shrubbery since the beginning of September 2021. The decision for her to leave home was a difficult one but the moment I went into The Shrubbery and met the manager and her team, the decision of which home to choose was simple. It's a decision I have not regretted for
a moment. The level of care, kindness and understanding shown towards Mum is immeasurable. It was a major worry for our family how my mother would react to the transition from home to care home life and I can only say that the change happened seamlessly and this was totally due to the staff. Their planning, preparation and execution on the chosen day was faultless, as has been the care thereafter. I am so impressed with this home and its friendly staff, who seemingly go above and beyond in the hope of bringing a little joy and comfort to my mother's life. True devotion to duty, for which I can't thank them enough.

The standard of care is excellent with all staff being friendly, caring, helpful and the needs of residents and relatives being met. The wishes of residents and relatives were listened to and acted upon accordingly. The room was large and the furniture provided was comfortable, with the room being kept
clean and tidy. A good choice of meals were provided for breakfast/lunch/dinner and drinks and snacks were provided throughout the day. All in all, a lovely place and in spite of covid lockdown etc, Mum enjoyed her stay.

From the start of care at The Shrubbery our Aunt has, in my opinion, received excellent care and attention. I have never had any concerns for her welfare whilst in care. The staff are all friendly and approachable, we are kept updated on a regular basis. The facilities are very clean and well-appointed.

The staff are brilliant and Mum enjoys living in the Shrubbery. She has Alzheimer's and has been there for over 2 years. The senior care staff have had no staff turnover in the time she has been a resident and the activities and attitudes of the staff to the residents is excellent.

My Father sadly died in June after being a resident at The Shrubbery for many years.
We initially found ourselves in the unfortunate position of having to find an alternative care home for Dad at short notice. We visited many in the area, but we knew as soon as we visited and spoke to the Manager that
this was the one.
The friendly, caring staff were always helpful and approachable, and they became a support not only to Dad but to us as a family as well. They came to know him so well and adapted his care to his changing needs as his dementia progressed.
In the months before Dad died his care needs increased significantly, but it was still carried out with care and patience giving Dad his dignity until the end.
We cannot thank the Manager and staff at The Shrubbery enough for all that they did over the years they cared for Dad and would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

Not only is Dad made to feel one of the family, we are too. The manager and her team are upbeat, hardworking and always kind and patient even when under pressure. We are so happy and grateful to have found such a caring place for our dear Dad.

The manager was so kind to my mother and extremely supportive to my sister and me. We immediately felt it was the right place for my mother. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming.

I was looking for a care home for my father. I phoned a few to make appointments and when I spoke to the manager I immediately knew this was the one. However I did go and visit some other homes but something didn’t connect. As soon as I walked into this one I knew it was ideal. The staff were so welcoming,
the home was extremely clean and didn’t smell, and the manager took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. Within days my dad was ensconced and I am so impressed with how all the staff have interacted with him. Well done to all.

My father has been in this home for almost two weeks now. On the day we took him in the staff were very reassuring and helpful. They took immediate care of Dad, showing him around, Introducing him to everyone, getting his clothes cleaned and marked up so it didn't get lost in the laundry and generally
making him, and us, feel welcome.
His room is comfortable and nicely decorated and we were able to put up personal photographs and pictures.
I visited every day for the first week. He was always clean and fed and happy. He joins in with activities and seems to be settling in well.
There is always laughter and smiling in the house. It is a very welcoming place.
Despite my initial misgivings, I'm now happy that he is in a place of safety where the staff are excellent and we are kept informed of his progress.

Always greeted by friendly members of staff who are always helpful. They also support the family and listen and act on any concerns.


The home always has a nice fresh smell, never any smell or odours!

We can all appreciate how difficult it is to come to terms with and how traumatic it can be on the transitional period, not only for Mum but all the different emotions we are all experiencing. The Manageress and deputy, with their expertise, made the move for us much less painful for us on that transition
and all the staff were there to welcome Mum with their cheery smiles and warm hearts.
We, as a family are made more than welcome to visit as often as we wish at any time, including meal times where Dad is welcome to dine with Mum in one of the dining rooms.
On entering the home there is always a hello from all the staff and laughter in the corridors. The Cooks work exceptionally hard to produce some lovely meals, whether it be homemade soup and a variety of sandwiches, or a roast!
The home always smells very pleasant and no odours as found in some homes.

I picked The Shrubbery after reading the reviews and by word of mouth. The manager and her deputy have been so helpful and supportive to us as a family when Mum first went into the home in February 2018. They are always there to talk us through our concerns and advice on how to deal with various situations.
When
we visit Mum the staff are all so friendly and always smiling so it gives the home a happy atmosphere and when we leave at the end of our visit, if we ask, one of the staff will go in and talk to Mum to make sure she is ok.
The home is always clean and smells fresh which is a nice greeting when you open the front door!
I would have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others as I feel we have chosen the right one for Mum.

Sadly my mother recently died after a stay of nearly four years at The Shrubbery. During that time the staff and management could not have been more caring towards her. My mother did not want to go into a care home, something I am sure most people would prefer to avoid however the staff were so patient
and understanding and she soon settled in and for many months became more independent and sociable than she had been for some time in her own home.


In the year before her death, my mother's care needs greatly increased and indeed she was bed bound for a number of months. Again despite the high level of care she needed, the staff cared for her with such patience even when she appeared to resent their care. They ensured she was safe and her dignity preserved throughout and I can not thank them enough.

Mum has been in this home for about 15 months now. When she went there, I never thought that she would still be alive now.
The care is excellent, any medical needs are dealt with either by the district nurse or local GP. Even though mum's mental health has deteriorated, generally she is good for someone
heading for her 95th birthday.

Our father has always been a very independent man, albeit until very recently. Alas, he began to show signs of forgetfulness which we felt was affecting his everyday normal routine.
We heard of the Shrubbery in Higham Ferrers and the excellent reports that went with it. Both my sister and I went
along to discover this for ourselves, I must say at this point, how truly astounded at the level of care, professionalism and attention to detail that was displayed in all areas.
Furthermore, we would like to thank the manager for all her hard work and for being so very accommodating at such short notice.
Our father is a different person, in such a positive way, all thanks to the Manager and her team.
Thank you so much for that extra special touch that has made such a dear "Father" very happy.

Mum has been at The Shrubbery since Nov 15. My brother & I had looked at other homes before this one and on walking through the door, we immediately felt better. At last - a care home that felt like home!


There was a lovely display of things made by the residents in reception - that first impression

was so good and it has stayed with us. There was a lively atmosphere, lots going on and a lot of laughter. And that was before we had been there 5 minutes!


We are so grateful to everybody at The Shrubbery. Mum took a while to settle in as she has dementia but the experience of the team meant that they watched and evaluated mum’s needs on a very personal level and had soon worked out the best way to care for her.

We were told to treat the home as we would if it was our home, it is easy to do so.


Always time to talk if we have any questions and we have regular reviews.

My husband's 97-year-old aunt has been a resident at The Shrubbery for the past two years. Prior to that, she had been a resident at two other care homes since 2002. In the past, as a registered nurse, I was a care manager and a member of a care standards inspection team, so I know what to expect of
a good care home.
During the introductory interview, it was clear that the registered manager was a very capable and caring person with a detailed knowledge and understanding of her specialised client group.
Our aunt has always been very particular about her personal appearance but as her dementia has deteriorated she has become a challenge for the care staff. In spite of this, they have done their best to maintain her appearance at all times as we found on our normal regular and random visits. She is now totally dependant on the care staff for all aspects of her daily living and yet they always treat her with great kindness and dignity. Her room is always kept as she would have wanted. As a former professional, I recognise that this standard of care is dependant upon sound structures and procedures determined by the home management and any small issues that we have found have always been dealt with promptly when brought to the attention of supervisory staff or management. The Shrubbery is a very friendly and welcoming care home which I can thoroughly recommend. It goes the extra mile.
