Our father has always been a very independent man, albeit until very recently. Alas, he began to show signs of forgetfulness which we felt was affecting his everyday normal routine.
We heard of the Shrubbery in Higham Ferrers and the excellent reports that went with it. Both my sister and I went along to discover this for ourselves, I must say at this point, how truly astounded at the level of care, professionalism and attention to detail that was displayed in all areas.
Furthermore, we would like to thank the manager for all her hard work and for being so very accommodating at such short notice.
Our father is a different person, in such a positive way, all thanks to the Manager and her team.

Thank you so much for that extra special touch that has made such a dear "Father" very happy.

Mum has been at The Shrubbery since Nov 15. My brother & I had looked at other homes before this one and on walking through the door, we immediately felt better. At last - a care home that felt like home!

There was a lovely display of things made by the residents in reception - that first impression was so good and it has stayed with us. There was a lively atmosphere, lots going on and a lot of laughter. And that was before we had been there 5 minutes!

We are so grateful to everybody at The Shrubbery. Mum took a while to settle in as she has dementia but the experience of the team meant that they watched and evaluated mum’s needs on a very personal level and had soon worked out the best way to care for her.

We were told to treat the home as we would if it was our home, it is easy to do so.

Always time to talk if we have any questions and we have regular reviews.

1000 letters not enough to say all I wanted to but THANK YOU ALL so very much. You are the best.

My husband's 97-year-old aunt has been a resident at The Shrubbery for the past two years. Prior to that, she had been a resident at two other care homes since 2002. In the past, as a registered nurse, I was a care manager and a member of a care standards inspection team, so I know what to expect of a good care home.
During the introductory interview, it was clear that the registered manager was a very capable and caring person with a detailed knowledge and understanding of her specialised client group.

Our aunt has always been very particular about her personal appearance but as her dementia has deteriorated she has become a challenge for the care staff. In spite of this, they have done their best to maintain her appearance at all times as we found on our normal regular and random visits. She is now totally dependant on the care staff for all aspects of her daily living and yet they always treat her with great kindness and dignity. Her room is always kept as she would have wanted. As a former professional, I recognise that this standard of care is dependant upon sound structures and procedures determined by the home management and any small issues that we have found have always been dealt with promptly when brought to the attention of supervisory staff or management. The Shrubbery is a very friendly and welcoming care home which I can thoroughly recommend. It goes the extra mile.

The staff are very attentive, and nothing is too much trouble. They care and want to do the best for all the people there. The manager is both kind, supportive and extremely professional. My mother is very clean, extremely well looked after. The food is of a good quality with choice and decent portions.

My uncle was admitted in January this year. We have found the staff to be excellent, caring and kind. The staffing levels are high and there is always someone on hand. The staff are obviously hand picked for their patience and understanding as nothing is too much trouble. Sometimes it must be extremely difficult for them to cope with the situations presented to them but they do so, always smiling. The manager and her team deserve 10/10 for their care plan. I feel every resident is catered for on a one to one basis. It feels like home from home. Nothing is too much trouble. Well done

Having to look for a care home for my mother in law has been a very worrying and sad time for all the family. But on finding The Shrubbery all that changed, we were greeted at the door by friendly staff and shown around the home by the head of care. Unlike the other care homes we have visited The Shrubbery has a homely feel to it and we were instantly put at ease. The rooms are light, airy, and clean and decorated to a high standard. I especially like the way the corridors are decorated, with pictures of cats, London buses, red telephone boxes and a sensory wall for residents to touch and feel. There are plenty of fresh flowers around and window scenes of forests and beach views.
We were told when first looking at The Shrubbery, 'our home is your home', and we are certainly made to feel at home whenever we visit. It has a feel of one big happy family, the staff are always friendly and fun, and the residents all look content and happy.
My mother in law loves the food provided and we are able to join her for meals whenever we wish, there is always a great choice. We are offered cups of tea when we visit and the staff are always at hand to answer any questions and to help with mum if we want to take her for a walk outside.
My mother in law has parkinsons disease and since being at the Shrubbery her mobility has greatly improved, I believe this is due to the extra time the care staff take to assist with her with walking.

It is a great peace of mind to not have to worry about mum, and to know that she is getting the best care available. On my last visit she said ' I am glad I am home', as a family we can't ask for more than that! We would recommend this home to anyone looking for excellent care for a loved one, and would like to thank all the staff for making our mum feel so at home.
