I honestly can't thank Shaun and his team enough they were kind and compassionate. My dad was settled and felt secure and 100% looked after by all the team
As a family, we had hundred percent trust in Dad's Care whilst he was at Hazelford .
It was a pleasure to look after your father and I am happy that he enjoyed his stay here at Hazelford. I look forwards to him coming back in the future should he require any assistance or care.
My husband is happy at Hazelford. That is thanks to manager Shaun and his team. He has advanced dementia so a new environment was not easy. Shaun and his great team have given him more confidence and love in practical ways. Shaun's total honesty is a great help to understanding our situation too.
Thankyou for your lovely words and we are more than happy for him to be part of our extended family. We will look to strive for improvement and will continue to ensure the highest levels of care are given.
My dad was in Hazelford for respite care, when he had to be rushed to hospital. The care for him and my mum was exceptional, for exceeding my expectations. My dad is now back at Hazelford, everything is stacked against him for being happy and content and yet he is - I can only put that down to exceptional understanding of my dad and exceptional care he is getting. The manager, Shaun, has been very very supportive of the whole family, nothing is too much trouble to make things nice for dad + I think that shows in dads contentment.
Thankyou for your kind words and we are more than happy to continue making improvements and want to ensure your dad and the other residents receive the highest level of care whilst with us.
I regularly take M to Daycare, appointments and social activities and the staff get him suitably dressed. He has mobility problems so getting him in or out the car is no easy task. In the terrible weather the staff are always good humoured despite getting very cold and wet.
Whenever M perceives a problem, whether genuine or imagined, Shaun and his team listen to him and resolve the problem or gently soothe him. He misses his 1 : 1 home care but he is well looked after and safe in their care.
Thankyou for your lovely words and I appreciate you taking the time out to complete and re-review following MP now being more settled. I look forwards to working with you to ensure that the care of all residents continues to improve.
The manager of The Hazelford is kind and considerate and this is reflected by me seeing his contended and caring self. He gives the job his all, he even saw the New Year in with 4 residents - my husband included. He makes Hazelford a happier place and can be completely trusted. He is sympathetic to both residents and relatives. he is in complete control and stands for no nonsense. He is aware of all that happens and nothing misses him. He is knowledgeable, down to earth, very approachable and an excellent manager.
This is wonderful to hear and the team around me deserve the highest credit also as I would be lost without them. We will continue to strive for improvments.
How the manager and his staff achieve what they do we will never know but we will be forever grateful to them and long may they continue in helping not only people at the most vulnerable time of their lives but allaying the fears of anxious relatives and friends looking for genuine help and support for their loved ones.
Thankyou for your kind words and your husband is missed. We are happy that we were able to provide you with comfort whilst he was here and we will strive to do this for others.
Throughout my many visits to this home. I have always found the staff to be polite, caring and considerate both to me and to the residents in their care. All rooms both private and communal are kept in excellent condition and cleanliness. All the staff act in a very professional manner they work hard, but can still have a smile for both residents and visitors.
Thankyou for your kind words and I am sure that the the staff will be appreciative that their hard work is being recognised. We are continuing to work on ensuring that all areas are person centred and that residents wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do.
My mother has been here for nearly four months. The staff and management are excellent. The food seems to be pretty good, too. I have no worries. I have confidence in the staff. They keep my mother safe at all times. I do wonder if it might be possible to organise more activities or entertainment but I note in this regard that communal music and singing now take place (once a week, I think)
Thankyou for the comments. Activities is something we are aiming to improve and work upon. The singing is taking place at least three times a week but additional activities are being provided.
Massive thanks to the care home manager for taking time to "understand" my mum and her complex needs. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he has gone above and beyond. I am truly thankful and he is an amazing ambassador for your company.
Thankyou so much for your positive comments and for ensuring all our hard work does not go unrecognised.
Treated with dignity and respect, Care is very person centred and evident when you see the team with them,
It feels like home from home and an extended family
Home is a happy place full of smiles despite how hard the pressure is at times
Also the staff that never get mentioned such as the admin, chef and maintenance they all get involved if and where needed
Thank you and keep up good work
This response has made my day and has helped me to identify that all our hard work is paying off. Please know that we will continue to work 100% of the time to improve on the care all residents receive.
I honestly can't thank Hazelford enough. My dad has now been in Hazelford for 2 months and is thriving. The care I see my dad receive is fantastic, the cleanliness of the home is really good. My dad is always smiling now.
We appreciate the positive feedback and we will continue to strive for improvement in the areas highlighted.
The home could do with a complete overhaul but the carers and staff do very good.
Thanks for the positive comments in regards to the staff. I am in the process of trying to make improvements to the home. This will be a slow process but please continue to monitor.
Care home is excellent and the staff always go above and beyond couldnt ask for more especially from the manager he gos out his way to make reaidents and familys feel welcome brilliant service couldnt ask for more
Thankyou for your kind words. I am glad you are happy with the service we are giving your father in law.
Under the circumstances that my grandad was placed into the home, the staff and the manager couldn't have been more supportive and helpful. The manager remained in frequent contact throughout the initial process of moving my grandad and advised us as to what he thought was best but ultimately allowed us to make the decision that was fit for my family and my grandad as an individual. We were shown a variety of different rooms to pick from and allowed to bring some of his personal items from home to make him feel more comfortable. The manager has been very persistent regarding my grandad's medications and the appointments he needs. The staff are always friendly and this home suits my grandad's needs and his personality well.
Thankyou for your kind words. Your grandad is a pleasure to look after and we will continue to go the extra mile to ensure that all his needs are met.
Staff all really friendly, facilities well kept and feels welcoming and trustworthy, lovely setting and the staff make it a wonderful home. A little TLC to the building would be beneficial but overall a really good experience.
Thank you for your kind words. We are looking to upgrade the decor and we hope in the future this will be reflective of our long-term plan.
When meeting staff & management they were friendly & helpful & the ethos of management was everything I wanted for my dad. The home is in need of some updating but the care is what is important to me as I have worked in the care sector myself.
Thankyou for your kind words and I am in the process of updating all areas of the home. I appreciate your response.
The building is old, but lovely and most importantly clean and fresh smelling. His room is great, and he is loving the food - I don't know if all care homes give 2 choices for lunch, but I was quite envious !
Overall, the team at Hazleford have taken what was a difficult stress filled situation for us, and made it positive. Thank you
Thankyou for your kind word and for taking the time to complete a review. Your review has brought tears to my eyes and I will be sure to pass on your positive feedback on to my staff.
As a family we could not ask for more. Thank you to the entire Hazelford staff for your compassion and devotion and helping not only my father but the whole family through this time.
Thank you for your kind words and I will ensure that the standards are maintained. I appreciate all the support given from you all.
Yes, the building could do with the attention, although clear but it's the care that makes this place special.
If it was a hotel and judged on this alone it would be a 5-star! Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We are continuing to work on the building but I appreciate how much you value us all.
Everyone seems pleasant and happy and helpful. One of the residents was asking for her glasses, they got broken and she wanted them to be able to see properly and have a go at writing. I hope this is followed up as she did tell someone so when I next visit she has them as she couldn't see me well enough. Everything great here.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this review and as discussed during your visit a new pair has been ordered and a temporary repair has been completed whilst we wait. She also has other spectacles to fulfil her needs in the short term.

Meet the Team (3)

Shaun Rodgers came into care in 2002 initially as a care assistant and has progressed into senior roles gradually over a number of years, where he has developed the skills and experience to care for those within a care establishment. Shaun brings with him empathy, care, compassion and a drive to provide the highest level of person-centred care possible to enrich the lives of the people that need care he overlooks.
Shaun became a manager in 2020 and has worked within nursing and residential homes. He has a passion for mental health and ensures that everyone within his care gets the appropriate support to lead a fulfilled life. Shaun came to work at Hazelford in September 2023, and he has continued to lead it into a new era as one of the care establishments within the Oak Tree Care Group.

Kasey came to work at Hazelford in 2020, where she promptly became indispensable due to her caring, compassionate and hard-working nature. She is a perfectionist who goes the extra mile to ensure that everyone in our care receives the highest level of care. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her, and she remains a respected member of the senior team here at Hazelford. Kasey was promoted to Deputy Manager in April 2026.

Margaret Lennon came to work at Hazelford in 2021. She initially came as a domestic, but we quickly identified her people skills developed from working within a senior role within the tourist industry and promptly became the activities co-ordinator before becoming the administrator in 2023. Maggie has a heart of gold, and her attention to detail is second to none. She is like the mother we all dreamed of, and she is a confidant for all residents and goes the extra mile to advocate on the residents' behalf.
Maggie is currently the care home’s Enquiry/ Wellbeing champion who ensures that the resident experience from enquiry to admission is second to none.
