Staff are always friendly and attentive. Mum has built some great relationships with them. An old building that could do with a refresh but the team are doing a great job of getting to grips with the place.

The staff at Hazelford cannot be faulted. They are the kindest, most caring people for which we are eternally grateful. They are so kind and considerate to our mum who has been there for nearly 4 years. We are always made to feel very welcome whenever we visit. We are regularly updated with anything
to do with Mum or the home. Please just continue to do what you do in the way that you do it as Mum seems very happy and content.
Thank you again to all of you.

My wife has been a resident for six years and have seen two ownership changes, several manager and multiple staff/carer changes. Despite this Hazelford has progressed, modernised, reorganised, and improved standards. All staff are warm, welcoming, and friendly, regularly updating me in relation to the
care, welfare, wants, and needs of my wife. I'm highly satisfied with the standard and level of care my wife receives and how all staff interact with her.

I have always found the staff very friendly and helpful, also caring to the residents.
They give us all relevant information on the resident - e.g. health, problems with eating (refusing food) and what they have given them to rectify this (more pudding or toast), whatever they want.
I have had to
visit a few care homes with family and this is the best I've ever been to.

My grandma lived here for nearly four years before her recent passing. The home has gone through a number of changes during the time but for the whole period, I couldn’t recommend it more highly. It’s a real home from home. The compassion the staff have for their residents and their well-being is heartwarming.
The care is second to none.

Our mother spent a very happy 4 years at Hazelford Care Home, during which time she repeatedly told us how much she loved living there, how she enjoyed the food and how kind the carers were in looking after her. Hazelford has such a warm and friendly, family culture that embraces everyone who lives,
works and visits there and it has been a privilege to be included in that. The staff really work hard to get to know the residents and do their utmost to meet their individual likes, dislikes and needs and it is wonderful to see new, withdrawn residents opening up and becoming happy active members of the Hazelford family. During the last few days of Mum's life, the love, care and compassion shown by every member of staff that popped into her room to see her and ask after us were overwhelming. It was second to none and gave us such security in the knowledge that not only was she in very safe hands when we couldn’t be there, but that she was also loved very much.
Reply from Jemma Liffen, Manager at The Hazelford Residential HomeThank you very much for your kind words. It was a pleasure knowing and looking after your mum. I know she will be missed by all of the staff, as will all of the family. Love from the Hazelford family.

My mum has just spent a week at Hazelford for respite care. I am her full-time carer and was worried that she would not settle being away from home. How wrong I was, she had a lovely time. The home is very welcoming, clean and tidy. The staff are very kind and friendly and engage with the residents,
my mum enjoyed the company and the activities. She also enjoyed the food, which is very good and varied. The laundry service is also excellent. I cannot recommend Hazelford highly enough.

This is the second care home that my mother has been a resident in (since October 2020), and I am delighted to say that my mother is very happy with the standard of care provided by the staff at The Hazelford. The management has also actively involved the resident's relatives during what has been a
very difficult year for all of us and I have no hesitation in recommending them unreservedly.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.525)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.525) out of 10 for The Hazelford Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.550 for The Hazelford Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (144 Excellents x 5) + (57 Goods x 4) + (15 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 220 Ratings = 4.55
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Hazelford Residential Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
