The home is very good. The staff are very helpful. If you don't like the meals provided they will find something you like.

It is important that we give our residents choices, and good to see that you have highlighted this in your review regarding the food at Queenswood.

Following a 5 week shut down due to norovirus we eventually saw the in-law mid-month. Residents obviously a bit down as they had no visitors. The staff were doing their best. They had a very late Xmas/New year party, which perked up the residents.

The closure of Queenswood came at a very bad time (over the Christmas and New Year Holidays) but we were pleased to celebrate this later than usual to bring in the new year. This was very successful and everyone enjoyed the event.

Comfortable. Well looked after and the carers are good. Not as many activities as there used to be. More encouragement to walk with aids to maintain independence.

Better communication with family members on issues such as mobility/continence.

Thank you for your review especially around the activities at Queenswood. I am pleased to announce that we have now appointed another Activities Coordinator to work alongside our other Activities Coordinator as well as the volunteers at the Home.

Having found Queenswood, our first impressions walking through the door was YES!!! This is the place we wanted our friend to be.
It just felt like home. From the first moment after viewing the rooms available, with the most helpful of staff, big thanks to the senior member, the decision was made, yes.
Everything was explained throughout very well, obviously, they had to assess him and likewise for himself. We were asked to join him for his first lunch there and meet his dining companions, which I thought was an easing in process all around and went very well.
He became permanent two weeks later, which in himself there was an improvement. The staff are so caring, thoughtful and nothing is too much trouble anytime night or day. With the support of the staff, his quality of life greatly improved. His mobility went from using a wheelchair to self confidently walking with a three wheeled walker, his cheeky grin had returned...

They could not do anymore if they tried.

It was a pleasure that we had the opportunity to look after your friend and we are so pleased that we helped him have a quality of life. He participated in many of the activities and seemed really happy and settled even though he was unsure at first. I will pass on your comments to the team.

My mother went to stay at Queenswood on 18th/1/17 initially for respite care. At the end of her two week stay, she had already decided she did not want to leave. Apart from a 10 day period when she was hospitalised she spent the remainder o her life at Queenswood, passing away on 9/3/17. During all her time there I cannot praise highly enough the wonderful care and consideration she received from every single member of staff. The knowledge that my mother was receiving such superb care was a great comfort to myself and the members of the family. I cannot recommend Queenswood highly enough. Thank you to one and all.

Overall Experience
My mum has been at Queenswood since April 2015. Initially she came in for 2 weeks respite whilst my wife and I went on honeymoon. On our return she refused to go home, as she enjoyed being at Queenswood so much. Around Christmas time she was poorly, the staff and other residents were fantastic, providing great care in regard to the staff, and displaying compassion and concern, in regard to the other residents.
My mum has never been the happiest person in the world, but I can honestly say that this is the happiest and most content that I have ever seen her. She gets a lot of choices of activities, outings, good quality food and most importantly to her, the company of other people and knowing that there is always someone around if she needs help.
The staff always make me and my family feel welcome when we visit and we have made friends with staff and other residents.

I would highly recommend Queenswood to anyone.
