Barnby Court has 23 bedrooms, all of which have a sink within; they are individually and tastefully decorated. Externally there is a beautiful enclosed garden with seating. An active lifestyle is encouraged and a varied activities programme tailored to individual interests is offered.
The home is located centrally within Barnby Moor. There are good road connections an the home is easily accessible from the A638 and A1. It is approximately 3 miles north of Retford.
Barnby Court has a 'Good' CQC rating (December 2020) and is a band 4 Nottinghamshire County Council Quality Rating and has a top band 5 Food Hygiene rating (March 2023).

Staff monitor resident’s welfare and movement over a 24 hour period. We promote a sense of wellbeing by encouraging residents to move around the building freely, promoting choice as to where they sit and where they have their meals.

On the money side, since my mother-in-law has started at the home there has been 3 price increases with the last one being a significant increase of circa 20%, which I'm not sure the increase in care/facilities has matched the increase.

My mother has been a resident in Barnby since 13th January 2016, so far I have been very happy with the care provided for my mother. The staff have been very thoughtful and attentive. My mother is struggling to settle and I know she is not the easiest of patients to look after.

I must say we thought the last increase in her fee's were a big jump. I would expect to see that difference in the home.

My friend is happy and well cared for. Visitors are always made welcomed by the staff and offered refreshments. Food and drink must be good as she looks so much better. I do not know about the activities of the cost of care.

Very professional but homely care, the staff are caring towards the residents and also are very supportive to the relatives and friends of residents. We are so fortunate to have mum looked after by such a gem of a care home.

My father has been diagnosed with dementia in hospital and has been so confused. After 2 weeks in Barnby Court it was like having my father of 10 years back. His appearance and general health has dramatically improved because of the care given by Barnby Court. He even think she is in a hotel!

Barnby Court enhanced the company portfolio in February 2023, and it has been a pleasure to see the home and team embrace our company values. We are working hard to improve the environment piece by piece while maintaining our beautiful building's history and presence within the village, and it has been an absolute pleasure seeing the home grow, evolve and move forward over this time.

I’ve worked in care homes for over 28 years now, qualified with Level 2 and 3 in Health & Social Care, Level 5 Management of Adult Residential Health & Social Care Settings and a Level 7 CMI Strategic Management qualification. I followed my mum into the job by volunteering at our local care home where she worked; she had also followed her mum into care, as my nana was the Matron of a council care home for 20 years.Everything I do makes me happy in my role, but nothing more so than seeing our residents smile and knowing the staff feel supported and also enjoy their jobs, as it can be long and at times difficult hours in care work.
Over the years, I have worked in 12 different homes; some of those were for the same company as I progressed, but to me, Farthings outweighed all previous experiences through my career. As the Registered Manager, I felt happy and content there for 8 years. I woke every day happy to go to work. Even through difficult times in the industry, I always felt supported and encouraged by the Directors and the family as a whole.
My favourite thing overall is that the company is family-run, but led by the residents' wants and wishes. Ashall Care Ltd go above and beyond to ensure the residents receive everything they need, and the Ashall Care team all together really get on and enjoy working together.
In February 2023, Ashall Care was enhanced as a company when we took over Barnby Court Care Home. It was a privilege to support Barnby Court take on Ashall Care's shared Values and envelop our vision. It was then my pleasure to take on the Operations Manager position and CQC Registered Nominated Individual role for the company, working across both Farthings and Barnby Court, supporting the Management team in both homes and driving the business forward.
I feel 100% confident that the delivery of care to our residents is second to none.

Jacqui has always had a passion for helping others. At a young age, she extended her helping hand and provided company for her elderly neighbour, whom she continued to support throughout her teenage years. Jacqui feels that making a difference in someone's life is a truly special position to be in.
Jacqui worked as a deputy manager here at Barnby Court, and her passion and drive were recognised as a true asset to Ashall Care, and so the natural progression for Jacqui was to step into the Home Manager role in November 2025 before working hard to achieve her CQC registration in May 2026.
