Real peace of mind, which is invaluable. Love the extra attention for Dad's birthday. The social media presence is so helpful, keeping us up to date with what's going on - particularly my siblings living abroad. A really well-run home and friendly atmosphere. I'm unaware of the financial aspect, so
can't complete it.

I needed to find a care home for my mum, who is unable to continue living on her own. After speaking to South Moor Lodge, I was invited to look around the care home. All the staff seemed friendly. The room they had available was perfect for Mum, who then came a few days later for a day and stayed. She
has settled in well. We have nothing but praise for South More Lodge. All the staff are fantastic, the facilities are good, and the home is very clean and pleasant. We are happy Mum is being very well cared for in a lovely environment.

Super place. My brother-in-law was a bit of an emergency admission due to falls. Our family are more than impressed with the home, the facilities and the lovely, kind and welcoming staff. Nothing is too much trouble, and we can talk to the team whenever we want. He is very comfortable and happy and
very well looked after, which is very reassuring for all of us. Many thanks.

I was very pleased with the care my mum received at Sout Moor Lodge during her week's respite care recently. Her room was lovely, even with fresh tulips, and the staff were very attentive. The manager was welcoming, and nothing too much trouble. There is a calm, bright and comfortable atmosphere at
the home, which makes the experience much happier.

My mother seems to have a good social life and activities with staff and some fellow residents. It is hard to judge when dementia is involved, but she seems happy, and she has good relationships with very friendly staff who are always smiling and having a joke with her.
She is well looked after with
health and hygiene, able to bathe safely in a bath with a hoist chair. Throughout the winter, it has always been warm inside. She has her hair done regularly and has access to a podiatrist when needed. There is excellent service from the local GP medical centre.
She eats well and mostly enjoys her food.
Visiting is very welcome at all times except meal times. When Mom's 'baby brother' (in his 90s) visited, it was such a joyful occasion, and we were provided with tea, coffee and cakes in the conservatory, where it was quiet and relaxed for them to reminisce and catch up on family news.
Mom's ensuite room is pleasant and opens up into a secure garden with a bench just outside if she wants to sit out.

I have received good care and attention from dedicated staff, much appreciated during my recovery from a major accident.
The exercises and quizzes kept me stimulated as my movement was restricted.
I enjoyed the home-cooked food.

We are happy with the home, our mother (97+) is comfortable, safe and content. The main asset of the place is the excellent staff, many of whom have been there for several years, which gives an air of stability and continuity. The categories I have left black is because I do not know due to lack of
access through Covid. It is no reflection on the place.

Mum appears to be very happy and settled in South Moor Lodge. I have no issues with her care. She regularly has her hair and nails done and is generally clean. She needs encouragement to change her clothes. She enjoys taking part in the activities and singing.l I have no problems communicating with
staff and management re Mum's care.

I have been visiting an ex-client of mine in South Moor Lodge for a couple of years now - Covid permitting that is. I have worked in care for 38-years, and I can honestly say with my hand on my heart that South Moor Lodge is the best care home I have worked in and visited over all those years.
From
my very first visit, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
The friendly welcome from everyone you meet, staff and residents, are second to none.
I really look forward to visiting. I am welcome to join the residents for lunch at a nominal cost. Speaking of meals, they never disappoint with a variety of different meals all home-cooked.
Birthdays are always celebrated, especially milestone birthdays.
South Moor Lodge is kept clean and tidy at all times, all of it, and it is quite a big building. The resident's rooms are always spotless and cosy, with residents allowed to bring their belongings with them to make it feel more like their home.
The activities coordinator is truly amazing - too much variety.

The staff and manager are all very caring and helpful. They are always helpful and happy to update you on your parent or take the phone to them. My father passed away in December, and I collected mum for the funeral, she was dressed and ready, and the staff were so supportive and really easy to talk
to. It meant so much to know that all the staff we're primed and compassionate to each of the resident's circumstances.

Mum has been a resident here since December 2018 and we are extremely grateful for the care she has received over this time, especially during the COVID outbreak. The home did have a few cases but kept us informed of the situation. I know everyone was extremely lucky pulling through and I'm sure it
is all down to the care and attention from all the members of staff. Mum seems happy there and takes part in lots of activities which they put on for the residents. The best thing for me and my sister is that we can see what Mum is up to by checking Facebook. This is an excellent way of keeping involved in her life until visiting restrictions are lifted.

Within days of Mum’s move to South Moor Lodge, we knew we had made the right choice. The improvements in her health and enjoyment of life were, frankly, stunning. We were heartened by the caring, even loving, approach of all the staff and by the way the residents were kept stimulated and occupied. Mum
was quickly embraced by her lively and warm South Moor Lodge family. Naturally, we worried about the threat of the Coronavirus entering the home but when it did, the staff leapt into action, isolating the sick residents with a dedicated care staff. What a huge relief when the last of the patients danced and laughed their way out of quarantine to loud celebrations, South Moor Lodge style. All recovered! No spread! What a truly remarkable job, then and now, by all the staff! Heroes all! And through the months of isolation, all the residents are entertained and kept busy by the wonderful, endlessly cheerful, Activities Director.
Mum says it best, 'My only complaint is, that I have no complaints'! Thank you, South Moor Lodge!

My mother has been a resident in this care home since September 2019, and I can honestly say the care she has received has been exceptional. South Moor Lodge has provided an extremely good standard of care to my father. After living in the home for several months, he has really settled in and found a new lease of life following living on his own for some time. Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.687)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.687) out of 10 for South Moor Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 23 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.687 for South Moor Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (207 Excellents x 5) + (40 Goods x 4) + (19 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 268 Ratings = 4.687
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for South Moor Lodge Care Home is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
